Edens Zero

All his life, Shiki has been surrounded by machines. At Granbell Kingdom, a long-abandoned amusement park, he is the only one of his kind around. That is, until Rebecca Bluegarden and her feline companion Happy arrive, unaware that they are Granbell's first visitors in one hundred years. Their goal is to make fun videos for their B-Cube channel, but what they find instead is a friend in the socially awkward Shiki.

When Granbell becomes too dangerous for the three of them, they set off on an adventure through the Sakura Cosmos. They hope to make more interesting videos and even find the elusive goddess Mother, while Shiki wants to make more friends, spurred on by the words of his late grandfather. Of course, the journey will not be easy, as no one has seen Mother before, but Shiki is determined to reach his goal and explore the boundless reaches of space together with his new friends.

"EDENS ZERO"

Genre- Adventure, Action, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Space, Shounen.

What does it mean to have a heart? Does it mean to be human? Does it mean to be alive and kicking and if so then are these the only things that come with you having a heart? Where do emotions, feelings of fear/anxiety/anger/happiness and sadness stand? Who and when can we consider someone a being with a heart? And if having a heart means being human, what about those AI/androids that develop feelings? Are they merely just tools that are to be used and discarded or are they someone who can become so close to you that ... your own family feels unfamiliar to you?

These are the foremost questions that strike you with each episode of this anime. While it has a super strong plot of Shiki going on a journey to make 100 friends and on a mission to meet Mother, you cannot help but ponder upon these questions as each emotion is felt to you so vividly. It has an adventure unlike any other and a masterful display of emotions that can take you on a ride. With a sadistic and harsh but truthful side of humans, Edens Zero presents you a story that makes you wonder each step about what it means to be a friend and what it means to have a heart.

Throughout the season you get a feeling like 'this is the beginning of something great' and even as the 1st season ends you cannot help but wonder what the sequel has in store for you. With its crisp and perfect animation to even better plot and setting of the anime, this is just one of those series that call out the inner Otaku in you. With its perfect balance of laughter, seriousness, karma, and pitch-perfect fantastical powers, this is the one show you should consider adding to your list.

This anime is absolutely a "MUST WATCH."

Mixed Feelings

This show was definitely missed potential. It had a great setting, good music, endearing characters and themes, and incredible animation. However, the overall narrative was weak and failed to take advantage of its characters and settings.
Edens Zero had a great cast with excellent potential, but they were not explored enough at all. The series jumped from location to location to host a bunch of good versus evil fights, and it often felt like this was the primary function of the narrative. These fights are entertaining with their awesome animation, but the characters were often poorly utilized and the show lacked thematic depth. Homura and Hermit ... were standout characters who the story utilized very well, but otherwise these endearing characters were left without proper exploration. The settings were compelling at a surface level, but thematically were very basic. Sun Jewel as a setting could have been analyzed with much more drive to explore themes of oppression, but instead it was basic good versus evil fluff. Additionally, Edens Zero's fan service often felt overbearing and inappropriate, though it was also pretty easy to ignore.
Edens Zero was very basic. Even so, it was still an enjoyable watch, as disappointed as this review may seem. The characters and settings were great, even as the story seldom explored them. The cast was awesome to journey with, and the anime had an excellent presentation. It is just unfortunate that the narrative was so weak and simple outside of some standout moments. Honestly, I still enjoyed the show quite a bit, but more objectively speaking, it was just okay.

Holy ass, like genuinely this anime is abysmal. From terrible pacing to the most bland, uninteresting, and sigh-inducing characters and writing. If it isn't just the most confusing plot points and info dumps imaginable, it's the mediocre robotic voice direction and shoe-horned fan service. Nearly every aspect of this show is coated with an irritating corny aftertaste, leaving the viewer with a migraine or fighting not to turn it off.

Nothing I say is hyperbolic or an over exaggeration either; the factors leading to this show's downfall are all shown within the first episode alone. A plot sown together by silly-string, a power system that ... never gets a proper explanation to let it even make half amount of sense, eye-rolling fan service, terrible voice direction & line delivery, generic main characters, pacing of a dog chasing a squirrel, and some of the most lacking consistency when it comes to characterization.

Every episode is a slog where you either get random unprompted info dumps from irrelevant background characters or mind-numbing writing with no sense of how normal people talk to each other. And if not either of those, then it's the most mundane fight scenes that get plot armored by the main character of all time or his gang of intergalactic rejects.

Is it absolutely unwatchable? No. one of the worst forms of media exists? Not quite. Is it good? Far from it, the only redeeming qualities come from the cast of later episodes. Even then they don't even stay consistent between episodes if at all, so unless you enjoy staring down and shaking your head disappointingly every few minutes, this is not worth watching.

Anyone saying this anime "isn't that bad" or "overhated" and anything similar has either never seen something with half decent writing or their frontal lobes fell out of their nostrils. It's just about the furthest from good you can get, talk about missed potential. Such an interesting idea to have a plot centered around, with the worst way to execute.
