According to the Republic of San Mongolia, their ongoing war against the Giadian Empire has no casualties—however, that is mere propaganda. While the silver-haired Alba of the Republic's eighty-five sectors live safely behind protective walls, those of different appearances are interned in a secret eighty-sixth faction. Known within the military as the Eighty-Six, they are forced to fight against the Empire's autonomous Legion under the command of the Republican "Handlers."

Vladilena Milizé is assigned to the Spearhead squadron to replace their previous Handler. Shunned by her peers for being a fellow Eighty-Six supporter, she continues to fight against their inhumane discrimination. Shinei Nouzen is the captain of the Spearhead squadron. Infamous for being the sole survivor of every squadron he's been in, he insists on shouldering the names and wishes of his fallen comrades. When the fates of these young souls from two different worlds collide, will it ignite the spark that lights their path to salvation, or will they burn themselves in the flames of despair?

"The two fight, each on their own battlefield.
She fights against her tears. He fights against his death.
They fight on never seeing each other's faces"

Since I am a light novel reader I've set my expectations very high knowing how good the source material is and the staff working on this project but watching the first 3 episode clearly shows how much the studio care for the source material and I can't tell you how much happy I am seeing one of my favorite series being animated.

The animation and CGI overall is superb and it looks beautiful combined with Sawano and Yamamoto's amazing sountrack is fxxxing incredible read more

86 Eighty-Six episode 1 may just be scene-setting for the story to come, but that’s not necessarily an issue when the story, if familiar territory for the genre, is as interesting and well-executed as this.
It’s hard not to see this anime as one of the most unfortunately relevant anime airing during the Spring anime season.
A militarized force is institutionally designed to uphold the status quo at home and use its might to impose national values beyond its borders, with the purpose of protecting those in power from potential external influence from other countries or the lower classes. The purpose of a military force is to read more

Commoners often say that the mecha genre is dying nowadays. There is no place for the giant robot stuff in the era of the light novel fantasies and battle shounens – and it’s difficult to disagree with it. After the ridiculous success of FranXX three years ago, the genre fell down into the void again, and suddenly I realized that literally nothing new was released in the past two years. Yeah, some movie sequels of already established franchises, some cheap and weird trash like Listeners or Revisions, and another rehashing of the same ideas for the tenth (eleventh? twelfth?) time by Trigger. Mecha series has been trending over the years. Following the light novel by Asato Asato, A1 pictures have brought us a sci-fi anime filled with drama. The anime was first announced in March 2020. Before the anime actually aired, the produced left no attempt at hyping up the audience and released three PVs for its promotion.

Eighty-Six has had a good reaction from light novel readers. The anime is about an ongoing war between two neighboring countries, Legion and The Republic of San Magnolia. Legion is a country with sophisticated technology. The Republic is only growing in terms of technology. Legion sent read more
