Kami no Tou

There is a tower that summons chosen people called "Regulars" with the promise of granting their deepest desires. Whether it be wealth, fame, authority, or something that surpasses them all—everything awaits those who reach the top.

Twenty-Fifth Bam is a boy who had only known a dark cave, a dirty cloth, and an unreachable light his entire life. So when a girl named Rachel came to him through the light, his entire world changed. Becoming close friends with Rachel, he learned various things about the outside world from her. But when Rachel says she must leave him to climb the Tower, his world shatters around him. Vowing to follow after her no matter what it takes, he sets his sight on the tower, and a miracle occurs.

Thus begins the journey of Bam, a young boy who was not chosen by the Tower but opened its gates by himself. They call his kind "Irregulars"—beings that have shaken the very foundation of the Tower each time they set foot inside it.

Tower of God season 1 is…………………not bad at all, it’s quite great actually. Now hear me out, I have no clue of how the Webtoon goes and what details it missed (Which I know it’s missing some for sure) but as an anime watcher (a.ka me) it’s pretty great. The animation is pretty to look at and the art style is phenomenal. Unlike other webtoon’s that get adapted, the artstyle this studio gave to the Webtoon really makes you feel like your watching a webcomic come to life and that’s an experience I’ve never felt with the other adaptations. Feels like a lot of thought ... went into the artstyle and backgrounds that they’re such a joy to look at. Unfortunately season 2 took away this, which i consider was a huge appeal…. They made it look like any other anime :( The characters are such a joy too watch. Instead of the regular trio consisting of “The Nice/ Energetic MC” “The Serious Dude” and “The Girl” . We got “Calm/respectful MC” “Smart Dude” and “Hyper energetic Dinosaur XD”. Way more interesting in my opinion and the rest of the cast are just as interesting……I like Endorssi, Anaak, Shibusu and Rachel…….yup I stand by what I said XD. None of them give off the “Ughhh it’s this character again…” The Plot is simple as of now, just climb the top of the tower through trial and tribulations and you’ll get anything granted basically. Now the ost….I really liked it, for some reason I find it unique and fitting for this series. The Op and Ed, how can I not mention those aspects! For me they’re both 10/10 and the visual for the OP is one of the very few that I give the title of “masterclass”……. “It’s literally just Baam walking for 95% of it though?” You may say and…. Exactly. You don’t need all the flashy visuals, fast moving animations, or show a slideshow of the Side characters that won’t matter. XD Just seeing Bam marching forward into nothingness, seeing him fall and get up says far more than an opening with explosions and a whole cast of characters doing wacky stuff/fighting all over the world. (It also in a way spoils the anime too which is amazing how it can to that with such simple illustration. I could go on about how the OP is masterclass but I’ll just leave it at 10%. The lyrics on both OP and ED play 50% into what makes them special, I’m saying this because the ED is fin- “HOW IN THE WORLD IS THE ED REMOTELY FINE! ITS FREAKING RACHEL” Yeah, but it’s just so calm too look at…… not as impressive as the OP but, it’s still a great example of how simple is good. So yeah… in a nutshell. Unique artstyle, good animation, great characters, straightforward plot, and amazing OP/ED.

Mixed Feelings

Direct viewer here and I’ll make it sweet and quick without all of the nonsense!

-If you’re a seasonal/avid anime watcher and appreciate the quality of story, character development and more… run.

-If you’ve watched some anime from time to time and is still part of your hobby you may enjoy it. It’s pretty slow paced and characters and VA is kinda boring, but if you’re looking for something easy to follow along this is definitely a must.

-if you’re young and new-ish to anime in general I would recommend it! Just don’t underestimate how deep anime can be , how intense the story could become, ... how awesome characters and character development could be, and so much more.

- Personal review: it’s 100% a 5/10 anime. It’s extremely cliche, not very entertaining and characters are extremely bland. The anime definitely left me empty from the beginning till the end. They make some funny references such as the DBZ reference and HunterxHunter but even that was poorly executed. It’s… like they had a good idea, but was extremely lazy about it! Well thats my opinion anyways. Be that as it may I stuck it through both seasons… but honestly I was searching for a new anime to watch by season 1 episode 9. It’s not bad which is why I give it a 5/10… but it’s definitely your water-down anime. Great if you need white noise to sleep!

It is one of those series like "Lost":
- they keep the mistery alive till the last episode, then the last episode doesn't explain shit.
- some weird convoluted "mistery" as an excuse to mash thousands of genres together and call it "all part of the mistery". is it fantasy? future? past? crime? thriller? why not everything at the same time, while failing at them all?

Spend a whole series watching this and then realize nothing actually happened. the plot didn't move at all. still same characters, still same goals, nothing changed and nothing progressed.
I even watched the first episode of the second season because FINALLY it felt ... like something was going to happen...But no. Second season starts the same way: avoiding the plot and introducing new characters to avoid progressing the story.

I honestly think not even the author knows where this story is heading to. It's like he's writng without a clear goal and without having an idea of what he wants to write about.

Watch this if you like Gooning without a happy ending.
