Kami no Tou

I couldn't help but think about Hunter x Hunter when I was watching Tower of God. Both MCs start off their journey trying to find somebody that is important to them, and it involves tower climbing with different levels in each, tests and enemies to fight. MC also doesn't seem very strong at first, but he uses his head in the best way he can to try to solve some problems and find people to help him in his task.  

These shows both portray vast unknown worlds yet to be explored with a great deal of mystery around their worlds and it's origin/contents. Both have deep & engaging power/ability dynamics (nen & shinsu) and both have amazing lovable characters with impeccable character design. Both also have great OSTs and art styles. 

There are many similarities between Tower of God and specifically the Hunter Exam arc of HxH: - MC is seemingly innocent, pure-hearted and cheerful - MC meets a few friends while trying to complete the challenges of the tower/ exam and they have to cooperate in order to complete them - the floors in ToG and the exams in HxH require quick-thinking, seeing through traps and fighting others smartly. Only a few among the examiners manage to pass on to the next stage - Gon's quest is to find his dad while Bam's is to find Rachel Bonus: in ToG the idea of the challengers having to go up so many floors, while fighting their way through them is kind of like the Heavens' Arena building in HxH in a broad sense. read more 

Honestly there's no anime that is as similar to Hunter x Hunter as Kami no Tou is, no anime has ever filled my HxH void as this did. Not only is it incredible on its own but there are so many similarities it would not surprise if the WebToon took heavy inspiration from HxH. It has: - Its own Nen and Nen users - Its own Hunters exam and Hunters - Its got its own rag tag group of MC's with a light hearted and friendship loving MC - And of course it's got its own bad ass assassin and dimwitted brute force side MC Its got a beautiful world with strange and mysterious creatures, people and stores. It honestly might as well be a side story in the HxH universe. Honestly if you don't love this after watching Hunter x Hunter you're doing something wrong. read more 

Hunter X Hunter is probably the most obvious recommendation if you liked Tower of God and vice versa, mainly because of how similar the Hunter exam and the Tower challenges are. Furthermore, the relationship dynamics between Khun/Bam and Gon/Killua are quite similar. 

Tower of God is like the first arc Hunter x Hunter but longer and 10x better. Note: HxH is still the better show as a whole. 

-In both, almost every main character is goal driven in some way -In both, there is a duo of main characters with a similar relationship, where the deuteragonist is much more mature and experienced than the protagonist, but becomes interested in them regardless. This isn't the end of the similarities between Killua and Khun, but you get the point. -The first arc of Hunter x Hunter bears striking resemblance to the concept of Kami no Tou; both involving various methods of tests which evaluate characteristics in a large range between physical prowess and intellect -Both have a similar setting, being a fantasy world with aspects of modern society sprinkled in  read more 

Tower of God is a lot like the Hunter Exam arc of Hunter x Hunter. Both main characters are taking an exam with the goal of finding someone important to them, and both are seen as underdogs who have to use more than pure strength to get by. Other than Bam and Gon being alike, Khun resembles a mixture of Killua and Kurapika, and Rak is a bit like Leorio. If you loved Hunter x Hunter like I did, you should definitely check out Tower of God 

similar in levels and tired competition system that leads to a great reward 

impossible not to get HxH vibes while watching/reading tower of god -Gon and Bam have a similar personality and goals -Both shows start with the characters going thru various tests and finding a team and friends to proceed in the tests -HxH Nen power and ToG Shinsoo are also similar  

They start of with the exact same formula: Boy who knows little befriends boy who knows slightly more, and they must go on fighting through these tournaments. And through it all there's this lingering feeling that something overarching has yet to be revealed. 

The first thing I had found that I loved as much as HxH way back was Made in Abyss, but this one is quite literally the hunter's arc from HxH and it's actually pretty good. I enjoyed it quite a bit and honestly the manwha has some crazy content so they actually have something pretty epic on their hands if they do it right. This is as close as I've found to HxH though not a 10 like HxH. This is my first recommendation ever so that should say something. 

this anime is very similar to Hunter X Hunter in which of the Hunter Exam, the anime is talking about a guy named Bum wanted to find a girl named Rachel, She abandoned him to climb the tower to see the stars as she says, in the start of the anime they started with the first test, was about 400 "Regulars " had to fight each other to reduce their number to 200 to pass this test, and every exam their number reduced same as HXH, and one one the characters named Rak said one of the most memorable words in HXH "First Comes Rock" gon say this when he uses "Jajankin" and also this an awesome anime you should watch it sooner or later read more 

Both have main characters who have friends that give there all to get stronger Both have characters who try there hardest to protect there friends Both have main characters who start off being very innocent and naive Both have main characters who are trying to find someone Both have unique powers that are separated by type Both have great background soundtracks  

- Both Baam and Gon search for someone important to them - The Plot is very alike but not the same - There are many characters with the same vibe (Killua and Khun) If you liked HxH you should at least try to watch Kami no Tou. You're gonna get the same vibe. 

From the first season how the world is presented and explored has a very similar feel to the first 2 arcs of Hunter x Hunter. The tests in Tower of God are quite similar to the hunter exam. But both are also very different in many ways as well. 

The first arc is very similar to Tower Of God's premise 

Both are similar in many ways •Both protagonists start their journey for the same reason, to find someone important to them •Power/Battling system is same •Both series start with an exam arc which are very similar to each other 

The test system is relatively similar, when I watched HxH, it struck me how much Tower of God S1 resembled it in that aspect. The nen system in HxH is similar to the shinsu system in Tower of God. Both are used for various functions in combat  

The premise of the Tower of God is very reminiscent of Hunter x Hunter's Hunter Exam arc, and both have really great worldbuilding. In addition to these things, many of the characters are very similar to each other. For example, both Gon and Bam are cheerful protagonists facing their challenges in the hopes of finding someone important to them, and Killua and Khun both come from prominent families that they are looking to be free from. The supportive dynamic between Khun and Bam is similar to the dynamic between Gon and Killua. The two series also use similar concepts at some points, some examples being the motivations of Kurapika and Hoh, the occasional banter between examiners, and the power systems that are introduced later on. read more 

Tower of God shares a lot in common with the first two parts of Hunter x Hunter (2011). If you liked Hunter x Hunter (2011), you will probably like Tower of God too and vice-versa. 

Both are all about adventure. They made friends along the journey and battle in challenges given to them. Along the journey, the protagonists got more stronger and made some character development. Although Hunter x Hunter had already ended, Kami no Tou has not and the anime adaptation only covered Season 1 of the series. 

These shows have a similar premise, going to find someone who abandoned at a young age. They both have amazing fight scenes, good character development, and are packed with mysteries. Hunter x Hunter's Gon and Tower of God's Baam both start as weak, but determined, and watching them both grow and gain power is always really exciting to watch. Both plots are ridiculously well thought out and have immense depth to them. 

In my opinion, the manhwa for Tower of God is like a better version of Hunter x Hunter. Replace every character with their counterpart from the other show ( Gon = Bam, Killua+Kurapika = Khun, Leorio = Rak, Ging = Rachel ) and the stories match. I always preferred the TOG manhwa's slightly more seinen approach on things, and though the anime doesn't do it justice ( except for its music, Kevin Penkin you rule ), I think you might still get some enjoyment out of it. 

Think of the Heavens Arena arc, but if it was a whole anime. The main character Baam and his closest friend Khun will resemble Gon and Killuas relationship. Anyways solid 8.5/10 in my opinion. 

Tower of god is really similar to HxH, but it still has it's own story, characters and charm  

What unites both anime and makes them similar is that they both revolve around some kind of tournament or contest, and the whole story is revolved around it with not much happening outside. Both are action-packed, have some humor, supernatural powers, and keep you guessing which challenges the protagonists are gonna have to face next. 

- both have origin of manhwa 🇰🇷 - both have exciting villain and supporting characters who are very very fun  

Both God of High School and Tower of God follow the premise of becoming a god, or well obtaining anything you want. They're both WEBTOON adaptations, with the same general consensus of "A lot of content has been skipped", so if you enjoyed one, you'll probably like the other. Animation in Tower of God is nice and simple, however in The God of High School, the animation is top-tier, with insane fighting scenes every episode, so the contrast will keep anime viewers refreshed, even if the main concept contains a "God" entity so-to-speak. 

Both series suffer from heavy adaptation issues of very webtoons, which make this series link really well with one and the other, as both share the same flaws, but to those who know of its origin will most likely follow them anyway. 

As both of this animes are a manguas you can feel the same level of excitement between the two series, they both have really cool protagonist, although they are notably different in attitude. In my experience the way the protagonist are developed they kept me on edge in every single episode and on each one of them they show you something new, and something to keep you watching. 

Both of these animes were were originally webtoons. They are also have quite interesting plots and the main characters are likeable.  

Both Crunchyroll adaptations of Korean webtoons. Both have lots of action and a bit of comic relief. Art style is a bit different from standard anime art in both. Both have God in the title 

Both are extremely rushed adaptations of famous Korean Webtoons produced by Crunchyroll. 

Both series are korean webtoon adaptations, and have character-driven plots, as well as themes of ambition and growth.  

This may comparison may seems weird but bear with me. Also a lot of this are mostly what I've taken from the mahwa and this season of Kami no Tou may yet to reveal them =Both shows have a similar undertone =Both characters have similar destination but for this anime, it was in reversed =Bam and Rachel x Regu and Riko have similar backstory and past =The theme of both anime and the lore is intriguing and gave of the same vibe =The theme of the soundtrack is similar and thus giving off the same feeling =The struggle and obstacles is similar though in MIA it was far heavier 

Whether you're a fan of made in abyss or tower god you can unanimously agree that Kevin Penkin (the composer for both these series) has done and will do a finominal job when it comes down to the soundtrack. Both series have tracks you can loop for hours and still there is something that still makes you hold on. But anyway onto the main comparison. Both series take place in an extremely large world. Whether you're venturing up a tower filled with mysteries and obstacles or diving into the depths of the abyss not knowing what you can find. -Both of them appear to be cheerful and colourful at the beginning, but then exposes it's true darker sides to the viewer as the story progresses. -Both the titles include the protagonist ascending/descending a large structure so as to find someone dear to them. -If you found one of these entertaining, you'll almost definitely enjoy the other. 

-both are fun and lighthearted on the surface, but contain dark undertones -the main character of each traverses floors of a structure(tower/abyss) to find a loved one -each are full of mystery regarding the structures and the veterans who run them Both anime are great. I'm sure if you like one you will most likely like the other. 

If you are looking for exploration of a cruel world and a feeling of an exciting but dangerous adventure, then Made in Abyss and Tower of God are both offering it. Even though the ideas are different, these two shows somehow feel very close in spirit to each other. The visuals of Made in Abyss may appear bright and positive, but don't let that fool you, its world is quite dark at heart. Also, both shows have epic music from the same composer - Kevin Penkin. 

Tower of God may be a clusterfuck, but it's still great. There's not a lot similar with the characters, necessarily, but I draw a lot of parallels between the worlds in the two shows. Both the Abyss and the Tower are very mysterious in their own ways and the further you progress into them, the more dangerous they get. Just give the damn show a watch, and you'll get what I'm trying to say here. 

- Students/Teachers In these Series - World building All of the students have at least one power special about them. Both protagonists start off with no powers/didn't know they had powers and then later on discovered they had them (early in the series) Both have interesting storylines, but MHA is more longer and with many small stories while Kami no Tou is more of a small Tv series with one main story Kami no Tou really reminds me of MHA because of the students and having to go through trials to become/get something 

Both revolves around characters with superpower abilities competing against each other. Both anime are filled with action. The protagonists shares similar character traits. 

Both features a cast of many characters with many different architypes and wacky costume with specific superpowers special to them competing for a similar goal. They also have a very comedic tone together with a comic book like style and a ton of fight scenes. 

DW and KNT both go on the list of shows with lots of potential that fell short. Like they literally seem unfinished. These are really interesting, dark shounen series with a survival game element. KNT walks into the conflict by choice. DW is forced into the conflict and struggles much more, especially emotionally. Both shows have a big group of interesting side characters, and some of their backstories will be explored. MCs have an opposite sex character who influences his life. 

- Different levels you have to pass - You have to fight and use strategies to pass - Both have a secret background story 

Dungeon & Tower is quite similar Both Protagonists are naive and have baby face. Both are fantasy world  

fight your way to the top and survive  

the main character learns to make bonds with friends and protect them within all costs. Like an adventure. 

Both shows are about climbing / defeating a tower with powers (shinsoo / magic) 

Protagonist and a girl, singular motivation, insane fight scenes, mysteries and discovering what could be lies 

Both anime titles are similar in their atmosphere. The characters must go to the very top floor, and on each floor there is a challenge for them to complete, and the challenge presents challenges and difficulties that they must overcome. Kami no tou is a very good anime, excellent drawing, music, plot, I got a lot of pleasure watching this anime, I really liked it! I advise everyone to look, you will not regret it! 

Both are outstanding isekai[-adjacent] battle shonen with a strong air of mystery. Several of the main characters have similar personalities and are equally easy to care about without just being goodie goodies. 

- Mystery-centric plot that is very well planned ahead - Characters took classes, joins society, fights the establishment and wars - MC grows psychologically throughout the series - Great worldbuilding, great side characters - Relatively serious narration with some humour - No ecchi, powerful and important female characters 

You have to pass multiple levels and work with others. They are both fun and interesting. In the end if you pass all the levels you get something in return. This is an awesome journey and I recommend reading the story on WebToon. You will regret missing either of the animes. Both are current and fun to watch. Not to mention that they are both really energizing.  

Both have a very similar idea of getting whatever you want but having to take some risk
