Dance with Devils

Ritsuka Tachibana has always been a good student, so she is completely shocked when she is suddenly summoned by the student council for breaking school rules. Led by Rem Kaginuki, the student council—also consisting of Urie Sogami, Shiki Natsumezaka, and Mage Nanashiro—tries to interrogate her, but it soon becomes clear that they have ulterior motives. However, this is only the beginning of Ritsuka's misfortune. When her mother gets kidnapped, her life is turned upside down, and Ritsuka gets drawn into a battle for supremacy between vampires and devils. Both groups are searching for the "Grimoire," a forbidden item that allows its owner to rule the world, and Ritsuka is somehow connected to this strange artifact.

The return of Ritsuka's protective brother Lindo from overseas gives her hope that life could return to normal. But even her sibling is harboring his own dark secrets. Ritsuka begins to question whom she can trust, and if she can ignore her growing attraction toward the devilishly handsome student council members.

This is one of those anime that completely pulls you in with its plot, even if it occasionally tests your patience xD. The story is dramatic, mysterious, and full of supernatural tension and despite the moments where the sudden singing made me want to scream into a pillow, I still ended up enjoying it a lot. Not all the songs were bad, but some of them definitely had me questioning my life choices xD. What really surprised me was how emotional the whole thing became. It’s packed with tension, laughter, and sadness, and by the end I was honestly shocked I didn’t cry when the ... main character made that decision :’). It hits harder than you expect, especially after getting attached to the characters and their chaotic relationships. Overall, it’s a dramatic, stylish, slightly unhinged supernatural romance that keeps you hooked, even when you’re annoyed, even when you’re laughing, and even when you’re yelling at the screen. And that’s exactly why it’s so fun.

Mixed Feelings

(NO SPOLIERS) I have given overall a rating of 5. I am having a hard time rating this anime though, because honestly it is not good. The characters are poorly developed, the singing parts seemed to come out of nowhere at times, I felt as if there was not much closure at the end, and really the plot is not anything note worthy. Despite all that, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It made me laugh, I was invested, and I have watched it twice. The thing is, I could not tell you why I enjoyed it so much, so honestly if you have not seen it, ... give it a go. I am still giving this an overall average score, because as much as I loved it, from an anime standpoint it was not anything that would or should stand out too much, and does not have the qualities that GOOD anime has. Keep in mind, I really enjoy typically stupid, trash anime.

2 stars only bc Mage and Shiki are goated. MC was genuinely so unlikable, Rem was boring, Lindo (Secondary love interest) is MCs cousin, and I genuinely did not gaf abt Ritsukos mom or Azuna. The plot was so boring and I found myself not caring at the literal climax of the story and everything the love interests said was predictable. Shiki x Mage on top, I wish Mage was a butch lesbian. Uh idk what else to say abt this but I still wanted to write a review so rewatching this wasnt a complete waste of time. Watch a different reverse harem unless you ... like to suffer, ngl some parts were ironically enjoyable like when the characters belt into song at random times in the episodes, or when MC screams like Raku chan from kawaii neko sugar girls.
