Bandai Namco Pictures announced a Western live-action television series for the Tiger & Bunny anime series on Friday. The company is collaborating with US-based film production company SK Global to produce the live-action series.

M. Raven Metzner (Iron Fist) is credited as the scriptwriter and showrunner. Masayuki Ozaki, the executive producer of the original anime, is serving as an executive producer alongside Metzner. Tetsu Fujimura (Ghost in the Shell) of Filosophia and SK Global's co-founder Sidney Kimmel are also among the executive producers.

A Hollywood live-action movie of Tiger & Bunny was previously announced in 2015 and would have been produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer from Imagine Entertainment and Sandy Climan and Annmarie Bailey from All Nippon Entertainment Works.

Sunrise produced the original 25-episode anime series and aired from April to September 2011. The side story film—subtitled The Beginning—premiered in Japan in 2012, with The Rising sequel film opening in 2014. The first 13 episodes of the second season streamed on Netflix on April 8.

Mizuki Sakakibara began a manga adaptation based on the first 13 anime episodes in Newtype Ace in 2011. The manga moved to Kadokawa Niconico Ace in 2013 due to the former ceasing publication and ended the following December with nine volumes.

VIZ Media licensed the anime series in North America and released the television series and side story on home video throughout 2013, with the sequel film in December 2014. The company also published Sakakibara's manga adaptation, Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning manga adaptation, and the Tiger & Bunny Comic Anthology.

Well... I hope they put a lot of money into this because they deserve it, it's a perfect story, entertaining, and without a doubt was ahead of its time in 2011, of course, I know the reputation of western live actions is terrible but if they do this well I think it could become something big

anyway you are right t&b has a very loyal and devoted fan base all over the world, especially in Asia, apart from the possible low budget the only thing I fear from all this is the boring and unpleasant point of view that the westerners always have can affect the writers and cause changes in the story.

They're smart for not going with Netflix after what happened with the Bebop live action lol, but I'm looking forward to this

Sickeningly worthless staff. Dead on arrival.

At this point, sure, whatever. Go for it, for all I care.

In all fairness though, this felt more Western than Japanese at times especially in terms of the plot so I guess it makes sense. But I doubt I'll bother checking it out though, xD.

anime is no longer about story telling, its business. naturally everyone want a share regardless of quality.

ugh doesnt surprise me. the anime was as badly written as a western show, full of cliche n unimaginative storylines. it reminded me so much of cheap american shows that this adaptation is natural

I love tiger and bunny because it’s a fun action comedy and it does give me some marvel vibes overall, but you would need a monster studio or a bunch of money in special effects to make this worthwhile, because even though I love it, the story is rather basic, it’s all the wacky characters that bring it life, and they are characters indeed, but there could also potentially be problems with how they are portrayed because there are different nationalities and even a female character who is a minor having a crush on an older man (if you know, you know), and then of course all the powers, especially the suits. I guess since it’s already based on American comics, there is pretty easy brand integration, since that’s also a focal point of the show, but you gotta be careful with that as well because Americans especially complain about that a lot in movies. I would for sure still watch the show though because I’m a glutton for punishment and I love the characters and the world, same reason why I’m going to watch the one piece live action, but like that one, you can’t help but be a bit worried.

Who do they even target with this? T&B is mostly popular with fujos.

Hollywood likes Superhero stuff, so I think that's why it it has a better chance of working.

Nah, they like marvel and dc capeshit because they read comics when they were young + young kids who are main target. Also no one reads capeshit comics anymore, people prefer manga.

Marvel is big. DC is....meh. But there's also the Boys and Umbrella Academy that are adaptations of comics that have been doing well too.

This could still be hot garbage. Hollywood doesn't seem to adapt mangas/animes properly when it comes to live action. But I'm somewhat positive about this one. It could surprise all of us.

I can't wait to see the funny casting choices.

😂 Agreed. Whenever I hear about live action adaptations of anime, I just think that it'll become a great meme material

Ah hell to the no, Hollywood is always ruining anime

These guys should hire someone to tell them which anime would work as a western live action and which one wouldn't, since they be seeming like they got absolutely no clue what they are doing. Where is the Monster live action HBO TV series that was announced years ago? Please give us that instead.

Love the Anime but will be in shock if this isn’t more than a disgrace.
