Despite being surrounded by chaos, set-backs, and weirdos, Mafuneko struggles to become a fully-fledged TV producer. (Source: Crunchyroll, edited)

HELL YES!!!! TV PRODUCTION ANIME!!!!!!!!!

I liked "Wave, Listen to me", "Eizouken", and "Shirobako". "Uramichi Oniisan" had a lot of funny jokes to tell about the behind-the-scenes work of a low-budget children's show. I liked the movie episode of "Haruhi Suzumiya". Also, the anime episode from "Paranoia Agent".

If anything, there should be more anime about media production. Film people are clinically insane and that makes for hilarious storytelling.

I haven't read the manga, so I can't say if the anime is gonna be good. But even it isn't, I'll probably still like it lmaooooo.

Bruh, other than this series obviously, wait for Oshi no Ko to get an anime. Or better yet, read the manga if you can.

I read "essay manga" and I thought it was a manga about writing essays. There are so many school animes. At least one should be about the arduous task of essay writing.

On the fence. Sounds like it could be interesting, but the art is weak. I'll wait for a PV.

The story takes place in 2014 and follows Mafuneko, a new hire at the "Tokyo Hajikko Television" company. The manga follows the hard struggles behind the scenes at making television content.

Oh, so kinda like Shirobako then, but with general TV network stuff and not just anime production?

Maybe, except Shirobako was a fictional story whereas this is supposed to be based on real events. Most likely it will be a bit less optimistic than Shirobako since real life usually sucks.

Wtf is an essay manga?

A comic essay (コミックエッセイ or エッセイ漫画) is a manga genre that draws on the author's life experiences, much like an Autobiography, to discuss lifestyle topics such as travel, cuisine, child-raising or pet care, or mental health.
