“To my only desire, the beast of possibility, the symbol of hope…” – Banagher Links, Gundam Unicorn episode 1

Since the advent of the original Mobile Suit Gundam 0079, the Gundam franchise certainly has grown to become one of the most iconic shows in anime and has undoubtedly revolutionized the mecha genre itself. Now we take a look at the long-awaited, most recent addition to the Universal Century, Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn.

For those who know the Gundam UC timeline it is obvious, however for the newcomers, it should be known that Gundam Unicorn, despite its name, is not to be taken lightly. For the uninformed about read more

The latest animation production in the Gundam metaseries, MS Gundam Unicorn is adapted from a light novel with the same title. Although most of the newer Gundam production is set in an alternate universe, this time Sunrise decided to return to the Universal Century timeline, set in UC 0096, 3 years after Char's Counterattack and 27 years before F91. Planned to be a 6 episodes OVA, this OVA will take approximately 3 years to finish. But for me, the wait is worth it, since based on the 1st episode, the series will be an excellent one.

Hey, Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn is finally a complete package and it's great, but who wants to read gushing? Not me, and I baselessly suspect I'm not the only one who combs through reviews for the most critical ones instead of the most adoring ones. With that said, this review will explore what makes Unicorn either worth mounting or nay, so saddle up!

Let's start with disclaimers: watching previous entries in the Gundam Universal Century is optional, but it is a highly advisable option if you want to get the most out of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn. You will be able to follow the story, but read more

Dubbed as "Vanilla Gundam" for its shift to elaborate upon the old gundam series, this OVA will not disappoint. Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, is a OVA series set three years after the events of Char's counter attack. That being said, Gundam Unicorn is a separate story adapted from a light novel series, though i believe is canon thus the need to at least read up on the gundam series beforehand is probably advisable. Though you could get through the series without a single clue, i feel that some of experience would be lost.

Like all Gundam series i have watched, most explore a lot read more

Anime: Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito 1 - Yokuryuu wa Maiorita
Mecha in 3D graphics, both are part of their respective universe which is kind of similar, has male lead and female lead, both Alexander and Unicorn has same colors, released in the same way each year, epic fights when it comes to mecha, and both animation are brilliant!

Anime: Eureka Seven
Both feature a protagonist with family issues using their overpowered mecha to protect an enigmatic girl who falls out of the sky, getting involved in a war they didn't want and enduring out of the power of love.

Both also explore the reality of throwing children into a battle, and are heavily based around the themes of belonging and family.

Think of Gundam Unicorn as Eureka Seven with better animation, a more directed plot and without the mind-screws.

Anime: Break Blade 1: Kakusei no Toki
Unicorn Reminds me of Broken Blade, the story is kinda the same, and all the character all have something in common in both shows. Of course i can recommend Gundam Unicorn to any other Gundam Series because they all have the same plot :P
