This episode was much better than the last one. I felt that there was some real character development for Banagher. The climactic battle was a quite a thrill. Can't wait for the next one!

As much as I dislike main characters that show a lot of "whining" and lack of resolve in Gundam series, I think the development of Banagher and how the director progressed through his thought process was well done. I'm okay with Banagher being the main character in this show as he does a good job bringing it back to the core conflict of Universal Century... at least it's more meaningful. Still a very solid anime both story-wise and animation-wise.

That was beyond epic. Unicorn is truly a series that you cannot bypass, even if you knew nothing about the classic UC. I knew the wait would be worth it.

Banshee is here!
That was some good chara development for Banagher even if it was predictable, well it's a Gundam serie.
The music was godly as always.

One more year and the serie will be finished.

Bah. The battles could have been awesome, but as usual, the trite old rehashed melodrama and Banagher's naive preaching let's it down.
Not to mention the way they snap the suspension of disbelief by having Banagher being trusted by the Sleeves and allowed to launch just like that.

It can't be Universal Century (or is it Gundam in general) without the whiny and preachy main characters. Still, I enjoyed the episode a lot. It had enough mecha porn to last me another six months.

I noticed banshee's appearance is altered slightly from the novel images. Looks like a lot of people who modded the model to look like banshee will need to make a few changes.

the mass production mobile suit battles are so sick.. classic Zeon suits and and even Federation suits have never been depicted in such detailed fashion while fighting.. they're not cannon fodders here.. and what looks to be a Byalant Custom stole most of the action scenes and he's good at it, another unknown badass pilot, kinda like the Stark Jegan from ep1.. heck, i'm ok with Banagher not fighting and doing his thing (Newtype protagonist requirement of preaching) when everyone else are into the war.. with that said, the amount of philosophy put into the first half of the show and Banagher's character development is great and adds to the feel of what the conflicts in the Universal Century are..

i believe Full Frontal had this calculated all along, especially with Banagher not exactly cooperating with them, so he just let Loni do whatever she wants.. since activating the NT-D and La+ system of the Unicorn seems to require a Newtype to face against..

Yep im sick of pussy main characters. I thought he would man up now. Wish we had more manly characters. In all serious in a real war he would had been dead asap trying to preach.

Isn't it being hinted that those Ensemble Darkhorses were with Bright Noa years before already?

No, even in a real war he wouldn't be killed because of his hardware, and he uses it. He preaches, which you say is a stupid thing to do, but that doesn't necessarily mean he stupid with anything else.

And I don't think his fight with Suberoa would happen if he's a "pussy."

No, he is not pussy. Kind heart is not a pussy. He have a resolve to win a war without force. That's why he is like that.

If you have to fight your friend, would you try to talk with him first or you will blow him out of misery in instant? I mean someone you know. Will you try to connivence or kill him.

You will see next when cold heart is pilot Banshee.

You want a main Character with best mobile suit doing dominating thru the series, then he will be like Char. Kill-em-all is a villain thing.

But, in a real war, the technological edge of the Unicorn would never have been big enough to allow a complete rookie like that win through anything other than luck. I mean, the only reason he survives is the miles thick plot armour and his newtype hax.

Okay I'm mad now, they need to fucking cool it with the new type attraction already, When it was with Mineva was like okay that ones, I'll let it slide, then it was with Miriada I was like "wtf... maybe some kind of triangle?... I'll let this pan out" and now this bitch? Banhager is kinda coming off like a new type slut. On top of that this bitch bare a pretty striking resemblance to Lala Sune.

Also this is getting pretty much close to Zeon Fanfiction at this point. Fucking Trained Federation Pilots in god damn suits comparable if not more power full then RX-78-2 with fucking beam weapons, getting fucking steam rolled by antiquated One Year Era Mobile mobile suits using One Year War Era armor and Shell weaponry, being piloted by fucking old men who probably haven't even touched a mobile suit in decades.

Fucking Dom Tropens, Zaku I's , Zaku II's and Z-GOKs, Oh and their was one Jelgoog(the only suit in the entire bunch that kinda might be able to put up a fight) are you fucking kidding me? I would have maybe bought it if they used Gorilla tactics, but no they went on in head to head fight.

This would be the equivalent of an army of Sherman Tanks stream rolling an Army of Abrams in a head to head battle.

Also who why piloting the Byalant Custom and what was it doing there? it just popped out of no where. Did they just shoe horn it in so they can make a toy?

Surprise attacks generally give you the upper hand, even with that once the federation forces recovered from the shock of the attack the decimated the Zeon.

Also the Byalant Custom didn't pop out of anywhere, it was in a hanger, look closely at the scene when it first appears. It shoots down a zeon suit and then bursts through the roof of the hanger.

Okay it popped out out of a hanger out of no where, still doesn't answer why such a specific prototype was doing there, it had no introduction, we didn't even see the pilot, it was just there, flipping around blowing shit up.

Because you know the federation can't win a battle unless some prototype mcguffin is on the field.

Also the Shamblo was all levels of insulting to my intelligence. "wait a minute you Zeon fucks actually went out of your fucking way to build a massive AMPHIBIOUS mobile armor? You guys really know how to spend your budget."

Actually I found Banaghers pacifist thing entirely understandable. He's the Piece on the board everyone needs, and the only reason he's involved is because his neglectful father basically forced him into it.

On top of that fact he has literally nothing to fight for, has nothing at stake, nothing to protect and both sides have equally been assholes to him and will only use him for their selfish reasons.

So his refusal to kill people who have done him no wrong and he has no allegiance to the people demanding that he kill is pretty reasonable.

I just got annoyed over the whole newtype attraction thing being used 3 times in once series. It's a little annoying.

Well, Unicorn upheld its title as best realistic robot series of the last ten years, and hands down. Everything was as perfect as the second episode - so downright exceptional - and the cliffhanger was just... wow.

"Epic" is not enough to describe this episode, Banagher may not have epic show-off in this episode like in EP3 but it's fine with me, there's so much depth in the story that it feels like i'm watching a live melodrama from the movies but with Epi fights from the most typically ignored characters in a show. Finally the key characters i've heard from the series finally makes entrance: Bright and the Banshee. now waiting for the Full Armor Unicorn to make an appearance too.

also, the Psychowave showdown between banagher and loni reminds me of Dragonball's aura fights.

This plot touches upon crucial elements of what we face in today's society. Wars, politics, it's never one sided.

And to the people who has had it with 'pussy' characters, really? I think I had it with you people, as it is the same people over and over. No one is born a hero, it is their history that provides them with the traits of a hero.

Now that's not to say that some 'pussy' heroines are not over the top, annoying, makes you want to smash your head against a brick wall, but the one in Unicorn isn't such a character.

I fucking loved that Walking War Museum... an amazing episode. And yeah, you might say Banagher is a "pussy", but he isn't 'cause he's up against the biggest asshole of this episode: Rhiddes. Banagher's developpment makes a lot of sense and all his actions are perfectly logical according to his character as opposed to that emo Rhiddes.

Great episode, I loved the multiple references it had to 0083, just like how ova 3 tributed ZZ :) and it was pretty neat how they showed the Albion (or Grey Phantom?) abandoned on that mountainside:

The only thing I didnt like was how they made Riddhe automatically have a thing for Mineva, when in the previous episodes he clearly hated her

It's not so much the "pussiness" as it is the pussiness happening in every other war show these days. Same old pacifist character archetype. Honestly I don't know how you guys aren't tired of it. I enjoyed the episode for the most part but, like most anime, the melodrama bogged it down.

Man up? Are you kidding me? He spent 2/3 of the episode complaing and moaning the entire episode. And the last 1/3 he spent it yelling at Lalah 2.0 about how she wasn't in control and she didn't want to fight and blah, blah, blah instead of actually fighting. If you spent the first 3 episodes saying that you want to protect people and you have a wacked out cyber newtype killing an entire city purely out of revenge, you're not living up to your creed of protecting others.

This is the worst episode by far so far. The only saving grace was Bright Noa being there. Yes Gundam has preachy, idealistic pilots, but my god he needed to man up in that battle and failed miserably. His character development went backward, not forward.

And Jigero hit the hammer on the head about the battle of this episode. Zeon fan fiction with Zeon steam rolling Federation forces like that. May have looked cool to see all that stuff animated so well and what not, still doesn't make sense though

~ ;_; Why must they do that to the GMs? Geez, they get wrecked to death. But the fights were awesome. Byarlant Custom ("jegan" looking winged thing) was great too. Also, Acguys!

~ It was nice to see Bright (he seems drawn weird. Was that just me?).

~ And the Vist family are totally cruel ;) Or is it just Al's sister?

~ Poor Loni. Banagher...make a decision on what to do. Nothing's easy at all.

Man did Ridhe just pull a 180. I really can't see any way for him to survive the coming storm. I think He and Audrey are just perfect for each other though, and the less of her around the better. I have never understood why Mineva just keeps dodging the bullet.

I have high hopes for something amazing coming out of the Marida Cruz side of the story. However, the track record of the Plu series begs to differ. Should be interesting to see what she can do now that she's in control of an N-TD though. Realistically Banagher wouldn't have a chance against her in outright combat, but here's hoping that's where the 'true newtype' subplot will shine through. I've been banking on something amazing coming out of that ever since the first dialogue about it in the first episode. I've always wanted to see the empathy of a newtype explored better.

It's Gundam though, so god only knows what's going to be left after the 'kill-em-all' sorts them out.

Ah damn, I was late watching this episode because RL keeps interfering with my time management for watching anime. Anyway, I appreciate that the battles between the mobile suit grunts on both sides were a little better with the gory and gritty details but I find myself in agreement with Jigero's analogy of pitting Shermans against Abrams.

This episode f*cking rocked! I'm really impressed by Banagher and that ass whooping he put on that Zeon captain. The sad thing is that he almost got Loni to stop, twice. Too bad in the end she "sees the tears of time" right next to her predecessors Lalah, Four, et cetera, et cetera. The action was amazing. We got some spectacular, gritty, brutal OYW combat and some ace pilot butt kicking. I want to know who was piloting that Byalant Custom. He was BEAST the whole battle. 5/5 easy. Stuff like this illustrates why I say AGE is only a solid/above average series. Because it doesn't leave the impression on me that Unicorn does.

I'll admit the different formats and budgets make a difference, too.

I was honestly surprised the Federation suits didn't put up more of a fight, they just kind of stood there while the Zeon suits tore them to shreds. I mean sure they had the surprise attack on them, but after a while it gets a bit ridiculous in the heat of battle they should have been able to evade a little and counter; taking out a few suits shouldn't be too hard with all the training I'm assuming the pilots went through. The one suit(Byalant?) that did anything made up for all the terrible pilots in that battle.
