A Mecha anime and its also a Mobile Suit Gundam title. Both are very cinematic, lots of action, and have a similar length too. The characters are memorable and the stakes are high just like in IRO.

Watching Unicorn I felt the same excitement as Zeta , conflict of war and main protagonist's ideology about war(though Banagher is more charismatic in a way and less arrogant, tries to understand the situation unlike Kamiyu who is hot headed guy on his way to demolish the corrupted titans good thing he has Char to mentor him or is it?). Spoiler? The amount of excitement when Char entered Gundam is reached everytime in unicorn it is just fun to experience.

Side stories to the Amuro - Char saga. Features newtypes, cybernewtypes and Neo Zeon. Broadens the setting/worldbuilding of the Universal Century.

Great sequel that honors the themes introduce in CCA while adding new stakes, characters and music.

Both are high-budget OVAs belonging to iconic anime sci-fi franchises. The main plot focus of both series is relatively simple and essentially the same : embarking on a journey through space on a quest to retrieve a mysterious item said to have the potential to alter the fate of humanity. One difference is that the divide between "good and evil" in Gundam Unicorn is much blurrier and less apparent compared to Yamato, never really portraying any one faction as good or evil, although Yamato does feature some villains one can genuinely sympathize with. Both OVAs have stellar animation quality and amazing soundtracks (especially in Gundam Unicorn's case) and  read more

Both feature a protagonist with family issues using their overpowered mecha to protect an enigmatic girl who falls out of the sky, getting involved in a war they didn't want and enduring out of the power of love. Both also explore the reality of throwing children into a battle, and are heavily based around the themes of belonging and family. Think of Gundam Unicorn as Eureka Seven with better animation, a more directed plot and without the mind-screws.

Mecha in 3D graphics, both are part of their respective universe which is kind of similar, has male lead and female lead, both Alexander and Unicorn has same colors, released in the same way each year, epic fights when it comes to mecha, and both animation are brilliant!

Unicorn Reminds me of Broken Blade, the story is kinda the same, and all the character all have something in common in both shows. Of course i can recommend Gundam Unicorn to any other Gundam Series because they all have the same plot :P
