An official website opened on June 1 for a TV anime adaptation of Aka Akasaka's school romantic comedy manga Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen (Kaguya-sama: Love is War). The announcement was made ahead of publication of the manga's 100th chapter, which was printed in Young Jump magazine on June 7.

Synopsis
Considered a genius due to having the highest grades in the country, Miyuki Shirogane leads the prestigious Shuchiin Academy's student council as its president, working alongside the beautiful and wealthy vice president Kaguya Shinomiya. The two are often regarded as the perfect couple by students despite them not being in any sort of romantic relationship.

However, the truth is that after spending so much time together, the two have developed feelings for one another; unfortunately, neither is willing to confess, as doing so would be a sign of weakness. With their pride as elite students on the line, Miyuki and Kaguya embark on a quest to do whatever is necessary to get a confession out of the other. Through their daily antics, the battle of love begins! [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Akasaka launched the manga in Miracle Jump magazine, where it was serialized between May 2015 and February 2016. It subsequently transferred to Young Jump in March 2016. Shueisha published the ninth volume on April 19. The manga reached a cumulative circulation of 2.4 million copies (including digital editions) with the release of the tenth compiled volume on June 19.

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai was voted number one in the Comics category of the 3rd Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho, a joint award by Da Vinci magazine and Niconico, which was announced in August 2017. In an interview with the web portal Comic Natalie, Akasaka indicated that he discussed the anime's script with producers, but he did not make any specific requests on how to adapt the series for animation.

VIZ Media licensed the main series in English under its Shonen Jump imprint in February 2018 and will publish the third volume on July 3. Two spin-off series titled Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Doujin-ban and Kaguya-sama wo Kataritai were also announced by Shueisha and will be serialized on the Tonari no Young Jump website from June 14 and in Young Jump magazine from July 26, respectively.

Definitely Shaft would be appropriate for Kaguya-sama. They'd probably make those "how cute" head tilted though, which, kinda fit.

Still so happy that finally adaptation was announced. Someone mentioned on the 110 chapter that it would be that there might be announcement as celebration for the 100th (+10 first before changing the magazine) and it was true! Very nice and praying for good adaptation!!!

Based on the context of the series, I imagine Shaft would be a good studio for this.

That's one beautiful key visual tbh.

If only the site is up when this news is announced the hype must be real.

Hope this one is adapted by a good studio and the adaptation actually delivers unlike Grand Blue.

Is grand blue really a bad adaptation? because if it is then it's really a shame as the manga is quite funny and interesting.

Now,reading this news made me so happy, this is literally one of the best romcoms ever and if done right, then it could become a huge hit like toradora.

Personally I find it very underwhelming, it doesn't really have the buildup of comedic timing of the manga, the anime art is pretty meh too.
