Regardless, I'm just delighted and so happy to read that you're alive and able to keep talking about giant robots and animanga with me, safe n sound! ;] (also is this a common occurrence where you live?!) and yes, you said it, from what you just experienced things can only go up from here! Oh I'm EXCITED to read that your Gundam voyage is going to be closer to mine after that dreadful experience! Your take on watching G Gundam regardless of that is close to mine when I decided to try out G-Witch when it was airing despite not being in the UC canon at all ofc. Sorta similar for Gquuuuuux, speaking of which...LMAO at ppl knowing singing a different tune now that it's over. Perhaps now that they've had time to recontextualize it as the anniversary celebratory, homage series of sorts that it is instead of ALL Gundam is going to look from here on out (not that I'd personally be complaining myself if that were to be the case), they won't be pissed off that the new designs aren't replacing their beloved classic designs.

The new RX78-02 also was a little hard on my eyes when the poster came out for it. But ofc, no surprise that it grew on me as the series progressed. Actually seeing this model of it side by side by the other designs makes it look alot better imo.

It's different for sure, but its new design makes it seem like it has a bunch of joints you can screw around with, which would not only make it more fun to mess around with, but also in terms of the actual gundam universe, would make it more swift and less stiff in battle. I've never hated the design, but I've gotten to appreciate it more overtime for sure. I just think the headpiece makes it look like a bull about to charge lol.

GYAN!! YESSS, looks like it's about to do some jousting! And yeah I also the Gmgoog/Gelgoog......GqGoog? Looks more traditional, and I think that's a reason I appreciate that suit's design. The guncannon's also a very solid choice, similarly looking more familiar than it's RX79-02 and Red Comet counterpart in the series. For me, it's the new guntank. It just looks so raw, and the cannons on it's shoulders are like Desert Eagles, the color pattern, and it sharing the same type of build as the other suits in Gquuuuuux actually makes its designs MORE appealing than it's orginal UC counterpart IMO.



Loved your reflection Gquuuuuux and agree with it, minus my preference for the new guntank over the OG. The new suits really do hold down the fort on their own, and it's wild to have the human characters designed by the pokemon character designer, and suits like gMS-κ GFreD being an obvious nod to series like EVA what with Anno being involved and all (also I don't really care for EVA personally all that much, I think it's good but doesn't hold a candle to Gundam imo hbu?). But anyways, it's just wild how much variety there is throughout this show and its influences that make this entry very unique and among my favorite entries!

HARD AGREE, it does a pretty piss poor job of trying to get new viewers invested in the series. Especially if their only experience with Gundam was something like G-Witch (which I oddly saw quite a few people on here and other forums asking if this was a good starting point for the series) and even for someone like me who's fairly well versed in OG UC timeline Gundam stuff, I definitely had to pause and take a moment to remember all the lingo and jargon that I've not had to think about in a while. 'Stuff like how Psycommu works and why tf Bask just appeared then disappeared'. I DO THINK however it does an excellent job showcasing what it's like to experience a classic Gundam, at least in a REALLY narratively condensed capacity. Complete with a love triangle with newtypes, characters that seem important being off'd in two seconds flat after you meet them, and teenagers propped up to carry the outcome of the war on their shoulders all the while making hasty decisions that are FRUSTRATING to watch unfold!!! It is a Gundam in its truest essence, and thematically matches many of the same beats as its ancestors.

Hathaway Flash 2 GIGA HYPE!!! How long has it been since the last one?!?! And yes, would really love for Gquuuuuux to have another cour or movie. I DO think we're getting at least SOMETHING, eventually but just not immediately. I WANT JUSTICE FOR XAVIER!!! I WANT TO SEE MACHU AND NYAAN DEVELOP!! I want to see Lalah with Char in this newtimeline, it'd be insane to witness! Do you prefer Machu or Nyaan?

SEED as an introduction huh? I've actually heard that quite a few times, I think that could definitely work for some people. And I really love how you framed an entry like SEED where you have to use your mind a bit and use context to piece together everything that's being presented in order to make the most sense out of it. Hence why I'd NEVER recc Gquuuuuux as entry point. Also you saying that about SEED makes me more excited to watch it, because I remember when I was first starting out my Gundam journey long ago, I used to think you HAD to watch the OG UC stuff to understand the Alt. timeline entries! Eventually realizing that alot of people actually started out that way in the 90s to 2010s even lol. How about you, what was YOUR entry into Gundam and how did you catch wind of this franchise in the first place?

YES AHHHH STARDUST MEMORY is indeed serving me well plasticrobot! I'M STILL WAITING for the 'bad part' to unfold. I'm at the tail end of it, and I've just been digging it more and more. The battles, the drama on both the romance side Kou and Nina, as well as the bits with characters such as Cima, Burning, and that you can tell that this is leading up to the creation of the TITANS! I think I got about 3-4 eps left, definitely taking my time with it as I'm reading SO MUCH MANGA IT'S UNREAL ROBOT!!!

As far as seasonals go, I am currently watching: Panty and Stocking s2, Osomatsu, Turkey!, Milky Subway, Vending Machine Isekai, and there's at least a couple other upcoming ones like 'Bullet/Bullet' but we'll see! ;D HBU anything you're watching this season, or any manga you've been digging!?

EXTREMELY WELL articulated plasticrobot! Now that you mention it, its smooth design, along with its colors really does represent the Axis era of Zeon coming into power through Haman (in that zeon's been 'haman-ized' for lack of a better term), er well technically Mineva, but really Haman lmao. It seems like a FAR more technologically advanced Hygogg! WHICH IS CRAZY YOU SHARED A PIC OF IT ALONG WITH THE KAMPFER AND Z'GOK-E. Because I was talking to another friend awhile back about my favorite suits from WITP, and the Kampfer was up there for me. Dude that one scene where it FIRST FIGHTS the Gundam NT-1, pure unadulterated kino.



Gquuuuuux vs. G-WITCH: YES, absolutely didn't feel that attached to the main characters as I usually do in Gundam. I too watched maybe a handful of eps, before deciding to put it on the backburner for now. As I do plan to finish it, the suit designs and action were really fun, but I kinda felt like it was just trying to play the yuri-bait too hard at times where it felt forced. Like, they wanted THAT aspect to be the selling point and not themes, characters, story, etc., that usually makes Gundam so memorable. Gquuuuuux in comparison is blowing my mind, I mean yeah it definitely gets pretty fanservice-y with all the old call-backs, BUT I CAN'T EVEN LIE I'M LOVING THAT SHIT.

As a OG-UC fan, it's imo the best love-letter/genuine continuation of that timeline in a modern era. PLS BE 2-COUR PLS BE 2-COUR PLS BE 2-COUR!!!! Who's your favorite character so far? For me, it might be Xavier....(because he shares my irl name lol)

WITP IS SO DAMN GOOOOOD! You always hear/read people saying, 'Which Gundam should I start with'. And even though my first answer will always be start with 0079, if they're just new to the mecha genre as a whole and want to test the Gundam waters before plunging into the classics which are undoubtedly longer, then WITP is the most accessible entry imo. Even moreso since it lacks the 'Tomino-isms' that filters people from completing the original UC trilogy. Alex is a cute, and BAH-KNEE!!! Deserved a happier ending, but it's war, and there are no winners. ;c

And great taste in suits, they are god tier. I'm slowly but surely making my war through Stardust. Have you seen F91? If so what are your thoughts on it?

100% No mecha design comes close to the MK. II (though my favorite overall suit from Gundam has to be Haman's Amx-004 Qubeley, also featured in Zeta!). And you're on the money with Gquuuuuux too, I think it was what I was hoping something like G-witch was. It's excellent so far, but dammit do I too wish it was longer!!! Fingers crossed it gets a second cour, but since there's no yuri-bait like in G-witch, I can't be sure, but FINGERS CROSSED!



I'm absolutely looking forward to hearing your thoughts on F91, and ZZ too! Not sure if you've seen War in the Pocket yet, but don't skimp out on it in case you haven't! Very overlooked entry imo! Glad to you read you're loving Gquuuuuux as much as me though, and here's to the ending sticking the landing! 🫡
