Go Nagai is a Japanese manga artist and a prolific author of science fiction, fantasy, horror, and erotica. He made his professional debut in 1967 with Meakashi Polikichi, but is best known for creating Cutie Honey, Devilman, and Mazinger Z.

He also pioneered the ecchi genre with Harenchi Gakuen. He is credited with creating the Super Robot genre and for designing the first mecha robots piloted by a user from within a cockpit with Mazinger Z.

In 2005, he became a Character Design professor at the Osaka University of Arts. Since 2009, he is a member of Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize's nominating committee.

@Blueflare45 I would personally say to just read the original Devilman first and then just read the spin-offs and sequels in whichever way you want. Continuity isn't too important. The two big "sequels" are Devilman Lady and Violence Jack, but they aren't related to each other at all, they just build off ideas from the original (I'd even argue that Jack is more of it's own thing). I recommend you read Mao Dante, it's essentially a pilot for the original manga but its not really connected (save for a reference in Lady) and is pretty cool in its own right. I also recommend you check out the 70s anime. A lot of people shit on it for not being like the manga, but its still fairly dark and is an entertaining motw show.

tl;dr Just read the original first and then the rest based on what's interesting to you. I brought up some personal favorites that I think are worth checking out.
