Robots. Pandas. Simple Humor. Take these three ingredients, stir em together and place in thirty 5-minute episodes. Let sit and cool. Enjoy.
This is a recipe for success. Well, maybe not success, but at the very least a recipe for a pretty good mini-series. Panda Z: The Robonimation is a cute string of gags and slapstick in the form of slightly inept, animal-shaped mechs. No complicated story, no deep character development, no dramatic adventures or romances...just simple low-key comedy.
Now, you might read that and think to yourself "why even bother?". The truth is, not every animu series needs to be a three dimensional wonder that
hooks into you with everything it has. Sometimes all a series has to do is do one thing well. Panda Z does this. From the first minute to the final gag, expect to giggle, snicker, smile, and laugh.
Panda Z is short, light hearted, and fun. I would suggest any fan of comedy or children shows to check this out.
Panda-Z is a series of 3 minute shorts (5 minute if you count the OP and ED, which I don't) presented in the style of a silent film. Music rolls constantly throughout each episode and various sound effects are used but dialogue is presented through a cut to black with white text and generally consists of a single sentence at a time before cutting back.
Irrelevant. Each episode is centered around resolving a basically isolated event and is largely independent of all other episodes. You could probably watch this series in random order and your experience would be unaffected. There are maybe 3 episodes that stand
as an exception.
Nothing special. Clean and smooth but nothing about it is likely to impress or offend anyone. It's also worth noting that many episodes use very little actual animation and largely consist of cuts between still shots or extremely slow pans with a large frame.
The music is why this anime is a 10. The tracks are dynamic and well constructed enough to make the otherwise static aspects of this show seem alive. If you're at all a fan of blues riffs the OST is a must.
Static and predictable. The cast is made up of characters that you'd expect, acting in ways you'd expect them to. There is no character development to speak of.
The progression of an episode is generally something like a four panel comic; setting, setup, event, punchline. Generally the punchline isn't laugh out loud funny but the progression is entertaining. The simplicity and consistency is refreshing and allows the show to take basically any concept and present it in an enjoyable way.
This anime the the product of a simple product presented in a flawless stylized manner. It's unlikely to wow anyone with it's art, story or characters and it certainly has no deeper meaning to be analyzed or derived from it, but it never intended to. It accomplishes what it sets out to do and remains basic and guided by its roots without introducing any elements beyond what are necessary to complete its run. I don't think the same concept could be presented in a better manner and thus, viewed as such, I give it a perfect score.

English Dubbed ( i say English dubbed but understand this is a non vocal anime show. The only spoken words are in the intro the rest is either captions or music.)
Generally not a continuation based show but when needed they will keep in mind where they left off and remind you if you forgot. This is show is more see what happens before taking action. A waiting game if you will. Not like a mystery where you can keep going looking for clues.
Basic. Not terrible like that of a child not a great like that of a pro. When it comes to certain
moments like falling the art drops slightly. Animations are not complex. Smooth transitions.
The music is a tad too high. Almost screeching like. The music used is kind of catchy depending on episode. Also in relation to episode the music style tends to match the plot/mood for the episode. Some of the animation noises could be improved.
basic. Nothing in depth.
Enjoyment: A lot of the times people want the best and the new for it contains more. However, sometimes in life you want to take a step back to relax. This anime would be one of those relaxing choices. Nothing to moderate or hard to follow. Something that can get a chuckle or two per episode without much effort.
