Today is the last of pride month, I know it hasn't been easy for you and I know just how much this wonderful god damn month means to you. I am really proud of you and who you are. You fight the good fight.
Same here. I'm mostly just week-ends active. My schedule doesn't allow me to watch that much anime anymore.
I'm watching more movies too and even made a letterboxd account recently. ^^
I wish I would watch more movies. I have at the moment a few siting on my computer taking space that I should get around watching. What type of movies do you like? I'm sure I'll go back to reading one day. I've already started watching a few shows again, so I just need to find the right moment.
Never an I, but I felt like branching a little bit from my usual sources of entertainment. Usually I would just take my 3DS when I used to take the train to university but now I have a bit more time to sit on my computer and play a bit.
Congratulations! Yeah, taking naps during the day is dangerous since you'll have problems getting sleepy during the night. That's the only thing I've never done no matter how exhausted I was because I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep when I needed to, and wake up in the morning. It just breeds laziness.
I'm fine, still not sleeping as much as I need but then again, I also haven't changed my caffeine intake among other things that need to be done. :P Right now, I'm looking forward to the week-end finally ^o^
No worries. Yeah, I've been busy as well and I write articles every week. Otherwise I've just been busy with some renovations in my office area...nothing terribly exciting lol. Good luck with university, what are you majoring in?
Sorry I'm getting back rather late, but I've been a bit busy. I also now need to watch the live-action series for Ooku, me and my friend are doing a panel for Zenkaikon (we're doing two actually, one is hidden gems of manga again, and the other one will be on Fumi Yoshinaga, who does Ooku and lots of other good series, seriously, the woman does not have a single bad series!) I am very much behind on actually reading Ooku (mostly because the English manga version is written in "Fakespeare" to mimic the Ye Olde Japanese used in their version, so I find reading Ooku very difficult), and it also comes out at a snails pace now that the US has caught up to Japan (it runs every two months in Japan, so there's 6 chapters a year, 4 in each volume so at least they're long chapters). So even though I've only read 5 volumes, I own up to vol 11 (soon, vol 12) since I still make a point of buying all the Yoshinaga manga. Ooku and What Did You Eat Yesterday? are her two currently ongoing series, I have all the other manga she's done (since everything but her doujinshi on her own series have been released in the US, though most of it is out of print now, so it's a good thing I've been into manga since around 2002!)
Ooku is covering an alternate history, more than just any particular characters, so the main lead changes here and there, so I'm not sure how much the live action series will cover. Unlike a lot of other series that start in the "future" then move to the past, Ooku actually overtakes the "future" where it starts out at, which is pretty cool. I've seen ep 1 of the live action series (out of ten eps, but they're an hour long each, so it's just like watching a season of Game of Thrones by that logic!), which I think just started at the main storyline (so, vol 2 of the manga), and that makes sense too. You would think that for a series whose main plot is that a disease kills at least 4 out of 5 men in Japan would have women be the leads, but Fumi Yoshinaga likes drawing men, so the mains are still mostly men. Historically, the Ooku was where the shogun kept his whores, but in this alternate reality, now that the shogun is a female (due to lack of males), the Ooku is now filled with men whores instead. The brothels also slowly become filled with men only.
Of all her manga series, only two have gotten adaptations.
Antique Bakery is the only one with an anime. It also has a live action J-drama series and a K-drama movie (I've seen the movie, it's pretty well amazing)
Ooku has a live-action J-drama series and two movies. I think they cover approximately the same things, but I've heard the series is much better, so I'm going with that.
Fumi Yoshinaga does both non-yaoi and yaoi, her two current ones are both non-yaoi. What Did You Eat Yesterday? is basically about a gay couple and the food they prep and eat for dinner (though it has time before dinner to develop the characters a bit). Fumi Yoshinaga is a massive foodie. She has also literally made a short one volume manga about her eating at and reviewing various food places around Tokyo (that really exist, or at least did when the manga was made) I'm not as big into her food manga, but man, how she describes and draws all the sweets in Antique Bakery, it's amazing, you can practically taste them!
My personal favorite is her only one with just high schoolers, Flower of Life, which is hilarious with awesome characters who are manga nerds. I just adore it. I'm just glad I got into it before vol 4 came out in the US because vol 4 is the pain one to find (but I pre-ordered it after reading 1-3!)
I don't have a ton of mangaka whose every work I will buy, it's mostly just her and Osamu Tezuka (I do own at least one version of every Tezuka manga that has gotten a physical release in English, quite difficult these days)

Indeed we haven't. How are you doing?

Did you get a chill schedule like you hoped?
And thanks lol, it's probably the laziest profile I've done.
