[Retracted] National Hockey League Seeks Partnerships With Japanese Anime Studios

According to Bleacher Report, National Hockey League (NHL) commissioner Gray Bettman admitted the leaked document about the negotiations between the League Office and Japanese anime studios for the partnerships. Bettman said it's one of the options to propagate the sport of hockey and nothing has been fixed yet.

Experts believe the candidate studios are Kyoto Animations, MAD HOUSE Studios, and J.C. Staff. The preliminary deal includes new anime episodes aired on TV and scoreboards in the breaks between periods of games, and anime appreciation events collaborating with NHL.

Professor Scott Galloway (New York University) said NHL will gain numbers of new viewers if they succeed in the partnership because the demographic of anime fans overlaps little with current NHL fans.

I would love a Hockey anime, since I'm Canadian and love the sport, so I hope this happens someday but, just as long as it's not moe on ice, and is gar on ice.

And since my oilers are not in the playoffs, and won't be for a while lol

This better not be untrue. The only team sport I'm remotely interested in other than Euro-Football-"Soccer" is Hockey.

That being said, confirmed fake. Oh god, Puck Daddy linked Sankaku Complex! I can't stop laughing. I've been F5ing all my hockey sites like every 30 minutes since last night waiting to see something about it.

Judging from this thread (and a bit of experience around the rest of the internet), whoever said anime fans don't like hockey is wrong. There's a lot of anime fans and a lot of hockey fans, so it's not that hard to imagine.

PS: Looking forward to seeing the Sens kick the Penguins' asses tonight.

Not interested in hockey, maybe they could make Hockey themed anime and take some inspiration from the NHL and make it good. I would give whatever hockey themed anime a try.

This is probably fake, it's already gone from Bleacher Report, and as someone else said, that site isn't exactly reliable. Would have had the potential to be awesome, though. I've always wanted there to be an anime that overlaps with one of my other interests. Knowing Gary Bettman, though, he'd fuck it up, he's such a dumbass.

FYI, there are already two manga about ice hockey (both of which suck and were published in the 90's). Also, for those that don't know, Japan does have a considerable number of ice hockey players and their own pro league. There was also a successful tv drama about ice hockey that I haven't watched, forget what it was called.
