#=================================
According to Bleacher Report, National Hockey League (NHL) commissioner Gray Bettman admitted the leaked document about the negotiations between the League Office and Japanese anime studios for the partnerships. Bettman said it's one of the options to propagate the sport of hockey and nothing has been fixed yet.

Experts believe the candidate studios are Kyoto Animations, MAD HOUSE Studios, and J.C. Staff. The preliminary deal includes new anime episodes aired on TV and scoreboards in the breaks between periods of games, and anime appreciation events collaborating with NHL.

Professor Scott Galloway (New York University) said NHL will gain numbers of new viewers if they succeed in the partnership because the demographic of anime fans overlaps little with current NHL fans.

I'm not an American and I'm not into ice hockey, but I wonder how this partnership would work. I don't want Madhouse to be wasting resorces on anime about ice hockey, unless there's a lot of money in it for them; a lot being the entire budget of the project plus a little more.

Also, shouldn't Sunrise be considered too? Imagine Gundams playing ice hockey, that really would be awesome to watch.

Yes I have to admit this too interests me. I don't watch Hockey either, well, not on a regular basis, but I do from time to time. I think it can be said this is at least an interesting concept.

If this is at all similar to what the NFL did with Eyeshield 21, I'll be interested in seeing the results.

If your going to complain that Yu-Gi-Oh! Mangas are on the top NY times manga best sellers, you must not realize how popular Card games are(as well as the fact that you get a free card).

I do like hockey, but I can't help but wonder if this won't hurt them. I mean, if they start showing anime inbetween periods I know there will be more than a few people in the stands saying WTF. With that said, Bettman has an ability to make a great thing horrible so keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best!

MAD HOUSE Studios

Mad House did One Outs, soooooooooo if they can do a Hockey version of it, then I'm all for it :3

Which is a much better idea than K-ON! on Ice.

edit: Actually, seeing a moe moe girl get her face smashed into glass is just as entertaining.

Yes if its like one outs I might like it..

Although seeing some k-on or any other moe character get smashed might be interesting for a min or two.

probably like this
anime fan watches hockey anime.
anime fan likes hockey anime.
anime fan watches real hockey.
hockey gains more fans
more fans more money

that said im not big fan of sports anime but if its for hockey i might watch.

I'm actually fairly sure this news is fake. The article has been deleted from bleacher report, a site that allows any user who has been registered for 2 weeks to write an article.
here is some blah blah blah on the topic at hand. You decide.

I'm Canadian. So if this was made and was true I would watch if it had no moe girls. Too bad the news is probably fake.

I wished not too long ago for this sort of thing to be made since there are anime about baseball, soccer, american football, tennis, figure skating, sumo wrestling, roller blading, volleyball, boxing, basektball, wrestling, golf, dodgeball, racing, gymnastics, cycling and ping pong.

Probably fake news. Bleacherreport is an unreliable site news-wise, not to mention if it really were a statement made by Gary Bettman, it would pretty easy to find something else about it. Eyeshield21 is the only reason to remotely believe in the possibility

I love hockey and I would like to see where this goes. This is one of the few decisions Gary Bettman has made that sounds reasonable, given his inability to promote hockey the way it should be here in the States.

just imagine a hockey anime scene would be like this with the hockey song....

"Though I fly through the valley of death..I shall fear no evil. For I am at 80,000 feet and climbing." - At the entrance to the old SR-71 operating base Kadena, Okinawa

If it's KyoAni, then they may just get them to produce an anime about ice hockey with moe girls, except instead of playing hockey they spend most of the time chatting, eating cakes and sipping tea. When they do get to a match it will cut to a music video instead of the match itself. I'm sorry, I just had to get that out of me.

On topic, I am curious other possibilities this partnership would result in. Does this mean we see JC Staff anime chara's promoting the sport? Will Hinagiku playing ice hockey banners be distributed? Will there be To Aru Tanoshimi no Ice Hockey posters?

KyoAni - moe on ice, drama on the side

Madhouse - serious hockey anime, manly men fight for glory

JC Staff - epic OP/ED, then the anime is about field hockey

This is probably fake, it's already gone from Bleacher Report, and as someone else said, that site isn't exactly reliable. Would have had the potential to be awesome, though. I've always wanted there to be an anime that overlaps with one of my other interests. Knowing Gary Bettman, though, he'd fuck it up, he's such a dumbass.

FYI, there are already two manga about ice hockey (both of which suck and were published in the 90's). Also, for those that don't know, Japan does have a considerable number of ice hockey players and their own pro league. There was also a successful tv drama about ice hockey that I haven't watched, forget what it was called.
