The YouTube livestream celebrating the Diamond no Ace anime series' tenth anniversary and Sawamura's birthday announced on Saturday that an anime sequel to the Diamond no Ace: Act II (Ace of Diamond Act II) television anime is in production. Original creator Yuuji Terajima drew an illustration to commemorate the announcement (pictured).

The original Diamond no Ace manga ran in Kodansha's Weekly Shounen Magazine from May 2006 to July 2015 and was compiled into 47 volumes. Terajima began serializing the Diamond no Ace Act II (Ace of Diamond Act II) sequel manga the following month and ended its 16-year run in October 2022. The fourth and fifth volumes bundled two original video anime episodes in 2016.

Production I.G and Madhouse adapted Diamond no Ace into two anime seasons in Fall 2013 and Spring 2015. Crunchyroll streamed both seasons with subtitles.

The Diamond no Ace: Act II (Ace of Diamond Act II) television anime produced by Madhouse aired in 52 episodes from Spring 2019 to Winter 2020. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime with subtitles.

Kodansha Comics USA licensed the original manga in English and began publishing it digitally in March 2017. The 47th and final volume was released on January 9.

@RobertBobert Ahh I see. In that case yeah, it's one of the best.

@PixelWater I meant the best genre works, in this case sports shonens. My knowledge of this is zero, since all my experience is limited to watching a couple of episodes of the Major sequel.

@RobertBobert I don't necessarily know what you mean by classic, but you don't need any knowledge of baseball to watch it. I watched it without knowing anything about the sport and so did my brothers and we all love it. I would highly recommend it, it's got lots of great characters with good character development, and lots of hype moments, which I think hit more because the sad moments are sadder compared to other sports anime.

OMG, finally, can't wait! It's been too long!

I-Is this for real? A-Are we seriously getting this? DnA is seriously going to have a new season??? I have already gave up the hope and thought they will never come back... They did!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭 There are only 3 anime I'm ever dreading for continuation: Akatsuki no Yona, Tower of God, Diamond no Ace. I gave for real on AkaYona, but now that Tower of God also did have a sequel, I received this news??? I couldn't be happierrrr 😭😭😭😭

I have watched this series several times and each time it made me smile and feel sad. I am positively surprised my favorite sports series is getting another season, all I can do is wait until they announce the exact date.

May 19, 9:51 AM by Kirigakuya

@RobertBobert Ah ok. I don't know how classic Ace is.

May 19, 8:43 AM by Azuchi

@Azuchi I'm familiar with Hajime, I was asking how classic Ace is. Because as far as I can see, the manga appeared in the 00s, but the anime only came out in the 10s.

May 19, 8:37 AM by RobertBobert

@RobertBobert Hajime no Ippo is a boxing anime. Also has comedy and nice fights.

May 19, 7:54 AM by Azuchi

@Azuchi Is it also quite an old sports shonen? I heard about this work, but never tried to watch it because I don’t know much about baseball.
