Wow, Code Geass is still ongoing.

@TheMechaManiac Jokes aside, but judging by the latest trends, GG is gradually becoming a solid classic and you can even find people who think that it is something “inaccessible to normies.” Which is really ironic considering how Geass was the epitome of mainstream teen anime back in the day.

@Playcool
If you think the rankings mean anything other than being an indicator of popularity (and not even of how many people watched it but how many accounts rated it), you need to touch grass, seriously. Quality is subjective.
Like call it all you want, the truth is Geass was a show heavily popularized by some of the earliest anime memes on the internet. Ranking it a 10/10 was the start of the whole ratings troll culture. It's ratings were never fully sincere and the show was simply put - a meme. Back in the day 4chan's /a/ board spammed the living hell of Geass everywhere on then popular social networks like Myspace.

@TheMechaManiac Except if we go by your metrics, nothing can then be called a masterpiece.
Both seasons of Code Geass have hold up pretty well among the years on this website in terms of ranking and popularity, I would argue a larger portion of people that ranked it, did so thinking it to be a classic and a masterpiece, otherwise why it is ranked so high?
Also I have never seen all those woman crazy for it either, most people I have talked about it here in forums would not fit that criteria, one thing is having an opinion, another is looking for facts, the rating of the main series here on MAL is a testament that many found the series to be amazing, at its peak.

@TheMechaManiac Well, my earliest memories of the show back then were one of those ecchi promotional illustrations with the caption "this is a show about terrorism, don't forget" and an argument with Lelouch fans who were trying to prove to me that he had done nothing wrong. Ah, the good old days in the late 00s. When even relatively serious shows had promotional illustrations with lewdness bordering on doujinshi.

@RobertBobert "TERRORISM" was waaaay back around the time the show was airing on TV, I don't think that meme's been relevant in ages. Lelouch has had some relevancy in, like, the early 2010s but other than a lot of oldsters faving him he kinda doesn't have that pull he used to have.

@TheMechaManiac Has the main animator of GG already passed away? God, it's been a while since I followed anything related to the show. Rest in peace. Well, when I first saw the show mentioned in the fandom, but didn't follow it, the main points about Geass were "this show is about terrorism ololo" and "Lelouch is a god."

@RobertBobert Oh trust me, there are fans who love the Geass women. I'd even go as far to say the girls are the highpoint of the series. C.C., Kallen, Viletta, Cornelia, Euphie, even some of the lesser ones like Sayoko and Rakshata are really fun to watch, and the late Takahiro Kimura (may he rest in peace) did a phenomenal job making them distinct and attractive in their own ways. Seriously, if there's one segment where Geass really is a 10/10, it's the women.

@TheMechaManiac I don't want to argue about the quality, but I always thought that Geass was mainly popular because of fujoshi and Lelouch fans who considered him a role model. I've rarely seen people who adored this show because of the chicks.

@Playcool Resurrection isn't canon to the TV series though. It follows on from the compilation movies.
Also, a "masterpiece"? Top kek. I liked the show for what it is but it's honestly filled with ridiculous plot holes, and while you can ignore them and just focus on the over-the-top events it really doesn't deserve the title of "masterpiece". Popular =/= masterpiece. I mean you can always consider it one, I'm just stating the facts.

@TheMechaManiac Heavily disagree, the show (both seasons) were masterpieces, but the movie sequel to S2 was just fanservice and IMO it lacked in many aspects, being a shadow of the OG series, the concept wasn't bad, but the development and plot were just not there.

These following movies seem to be even worst, my expectations are not zero, they are NEGATIVE, for the stain these movies will most likely be.

Wow, I dislike the MC's squeaker voice already. His design looks off as well. He looks like an underaged, androgynous princess; and something you'd see in a host club anime or something. Definitely a fujo bait.

Dropped. The show wasn't the best (and frankly it was carried by all the hot chicks and Lelouch to a lesser extent) but it has an ending that was on point.

@Astachanna This is the third version of the Code Geass anime, not counting the original two seasons. Two spin-offs and one trilogy of remake films.

Apr 11, 11:20 AM by RobertBobert

I didn't know Code Geasse had more than one anime. How many character from the original anime series are going to be in this one?

Apr 11, 10:37 AM by Astachanna

looks like this will be really like akito the exiled where the old characters are just gonna have short appearances at least
