Twin Engine Announces Original TV Anime 'Bucchigire!' for Summer 2022

Producer Twin Engine opened an official website for their first original television anime series titled Bucchigire! (Shine On! Bakumatsu Boys) on Thursday. The website also revealed the production staff, a teaser visual (pictured), and a teaser promotional video. The anime is scheduled to premiere in July 2022.

Synopsis
In an era when Samurai ruled Japan… The Shinsengumi has been wiped out by an unknown attacker, leaving one survivor. Seven criminals are chosen as doubles for the Shinsengumi. To protect the security of Kyoto, a top-secret replacement operation is executed.

The synopsis sounds interesting but the character designs make me wonder whether this will just be your run of the mill shounen series. Was hoping for something with a more gritty and realistic aesthetic.

its true that I liked the PV character design better than what we saw in the video, but I actually dont think theyre badly designed, I just think its less serious and maybe thats what people were looking for. Creator of Shaman King designed them, as we can clearly see, saw not surprised.

Tbh...I think if they nail the animation, the character design won't be "THAT" big of a problem and in fact if executed properly it would even add up to the anime's aesthetics...the plot in itself seems good enough for me to enjoy this...let's see!...how's this gonna end up
