The official Twitter account of the Saihate no Paladin (The Faraway Paladin) television anime announced on Saturday that a second season is in production.

The anime series premiered on October 9, with the 11th episode airing on Saturday. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime outside of Asia and Oceania with English subtitles and dub, as well as foreign dubs, including Spanish, Portuguese, German, and French. Medialink streamed the anime in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania.

Yuu Nobuta (High School Fleet) directed the anime at Children's Playground Entertainment, with Tatsuya Takahashi (Kenja no Mago) handling the series composition. Kouji Haneda (Scared Rider Xechs) designed the characters, and Keigo Hoashi (Concrete Revolutio: Choujin Gensou) and Ryuuichi Takada (Ikebukuro West Gate Park) from the music production studio MONACA composed the music.

Saihate no Paladin adapts Kanata Yanagino's adventure fantasy light novel, which they launched on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in May 2015. Overlap began publishing the novel with illustrations by Kususaga Rin the following March and released the fourth and latest volume in September 2017.

Mutsumi Okuhashi (Hai to Gensou no Grimgar) began drawing a manga adaptation on the Comic Gardo web manga portal in September 2017. Overlap shipped the eighth volume on September 25.

J-Novel Club licensed both the light novel and manga adaptation in English in 2016 and 2019, respectively. The fourth novel volume went on sale in April 2018. The seventh volume shipped on December 14.

Synopsis
Born into a new world after a life of stagnancy, Will awakens to the faces of a skeleton, a ghost, and a mummy. Living in the ruins of a city long fallen, the three raise Will as their own. The skeleton— Blood—teaches him to fight; the ghost—Gus—teaches him magic; and the mummy—Mary—teaches him religion and responsibility. Most importantly, they all teach him love.

As Will grows up and learns about the world he was born into, he prepares for the day when he must finally set out on his own. For Will, this journey includes a lifelong promise. At their coming-of-age, every adult is required to swear an oath to the god of their choice, with the strength of the pledge affecting the degree of their sworn god's blessing.

With his departure approaching, Will must prepare to accept the truth of his undead guardians and embark into a world that even they don't know the state of. Will discovers, however, that every oath must be fulfilled, one way or another. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

aah... ahhh... well... well... I suppose that is uplifting news. however, i'm not putting a lot of confidence in it. i've perused one unsubstantiated proclamation that this first season just involved THE FIRST TWO books for every one of the 12 episodes. i'd figure that is the reason ep7 was an inadequately done recap ep. there are just five books in the series up to this point and I can't recall truly watching a 12 ep season obtained off under 4 books. likewise, the creator hasn't distributed one since Sept 2017... i'm not pausing my breathing for a 6th novel and a second anime season that will just cover most likely three books? https://dirtbikehelmetshub.com/
the second season will most likely adapt volume 3 & 3.2, which makes up one big arc. Volume 4 probably won't ever be adapted or it will just be turned into an ova because vol.4 is a compilation of side stories (basically just filler).

Good thing they announced it. This really needed a second season but I just hope it gets serious instead of the mc just going around killing off demons like usual.
It's supposed to get serious on the first episode but poor adaptation ruined it. I would recommend reading the manga or LN instead.

Well... this adaptation was even more disappointing than PV gave away at first. I assume it's a split cour, not an actual second season. I highly doubt this can sell enough or boost LN sales enough to justify regular second season.

aah... ahhh... hmm... well... i guess that's good news. i'm not putting too much faith in it though. i've read one unconfirmed statement that this 1st season only used THE FIRST TWO novels for all 12 episodes. i'd guess that's why ep7 was a poorly done recap ep. there are only five novels in the series so far and i can't remember ever watching a 12 ep season sourced off less than 4 books. also, the author hasn't published one since Sept 2017... i'm not holding my breath for a sixth novel and a 2nd anime season that'll only cover probably three books?

Kinda of a weird time to announce s2 as usually it happens after the season ends. Anyway more of this anime is nice.

Should've been after the last episode, but well atleast we now know there'll be one for sure.

It's probably planned already since the announcement came out right after Episode 11 aired.

I'd expect a good continuation knowing that author Kanata Yanagino is very vocal about his work, but please fix the production issues because it's kinda shit.
