'Gekidol' Original TV Anime Announces Cast and Staff, Includes 'Alice in Deadly School' Anime

Happinet opened an official website for an original television anime based on the Gekidol Project on Friday, scheduled to broadcast in January 2021. The anime will also include Alice in Deadly School, which adapts Kaworu Asaku and Ajiko Kojima's 4-koma manga. The website revealed cast, staff, a promotional video, and a teaser visual (pictured).

Synopsis
Set five years after the mysterious disaster of a city's sudden disappearance, a group of girls fascinated by the "Theatrical Material System" using 3D holograms aims to brighten the stage during the city's post-apocalyptic recovery.

The anime idol seems to be enjoying the same fate as mahou shoujo, isekai and action shonen with their sharp leap into drama and grimdark after the traditional optimistic plots began to repeat itself and don't work. Not familiar with this franchise, but I hope it won't be similar drama for drama's sake and don't used it just as an "original" commercial gimmick.

Madoka was likewise not the first dark mahou shoujo, but it was after it that it literally turned into an ubiquitous trend. To such an extent that now trying to play traditional magical girl's tropes not-ironically will be perceived very weird.

I like what I'm seeing, the only thing is that some of the designs look a little on the similar side. That'll probably be better when I actually watch the show
