The 20th issue of this year's Morning magazine announced a television anime adaptation of Shigemitsu Harada and Issei Hatsuyoshiya's Hataraku Saibou Black (Cells at Work! Code Black) spin-off manga on Thursday. The anime will premiere in January 2021.

Synopsis
In this new spin-off, a newbie Red Blood Cell is one of 37 trillion working to keep this body running. But something's wrong! Stress hormones keep yelling at him to go faster. The blood vessels are crusted over with cholesterol. Ulcers, fatty liver, trouble (ahem) downstairs... It's hard for a cell to keep working when every day is a CODE BLACK!

There are trillions of cells in the human body, and they all have to work hard to keep that body alive. But what if that body isn't taking great care of itself? This new take stars a fresh-faced Red Blood Cell and his friend, the buxom White Blood Cell, as they struggle to keep themselves and their world together through alcoholism, smoking, erectile dysfunction, athlete's foot, gout. It turns out the same immune cells that fight off the common cold also have to deal with troubles of a distinctly more adult nature... (Source: Kodansha Comics, edited)

I wasn't huge fan of original. Hopefully this one is less of a elementary school biology dump and more of actual story with some education value included inside. Considering this one is seinen, there is some potential.

This reminds me of the progressives, well they will have their feminist anime, where the lymphocytes will be powerful and strong women

You are reading too much into it.

Like I said in another thread, it will be an interesting experience to switch between the light-hearted and wholesome original work and the depressing and dark atmosphere of BLACK every week.

I was honesty suprised when I saw that announcement. I'd though I would never see the spin-off Cells at Work BLACK getting animated, because the small ammount of source material I could read some time ago I really did enjoyed for sure.

Please take care of your body, folks. ;-)
