'Yami Shibai' Gets Spin-off TV Anime 'Ninja Collection'

An official website under TV Tokyo opened on Friday, revealing that a spin-off of the TV anime series Yami Shibai titled Ninja Collection has been green-lit. The anime will begin broadcasting in July this year, with episodes streaming a week before TV broadcast on animeteleto.

Synopsis
Set in modern-day Tokyo where dreams and desires are afloat, a group of ninjas called "Toukeshuu" is set to stop the spread of "darkness" that prevails in the world using ancient techniques passed down through generations.

The voice cast of the anime will include a variety of talents, including stage play actors Yuki Kimisawa, Taiga Fukuzawa, Kazuki Soejima, Ryoushirou Tsuji, Vtuber Taku Nanase, musicians Shingo Ogaya, Wahei Yamasaki, Dai Hirayama, former and current idol group members and singers Akari Nakamura, Ayaka Oota, Monika Mita, MoeMi, as well as newbie and veteran actors Kou Ikeda, Shion Suzuki, Masaki Sawai, Ponzu, Sae Izumi, and Sachiko Nakagome.

Akira Funada is directing the anime at ILCA, Toho Interactive Animation (TIA), and DRAWIZ, with production cooperation by Aqua. Hiromu Kumamoto and Mitsuhiro Sasaki are returning with film writer Rei Tsuruga to pen the script. Tsubo Asano is credited as the main animator. Yami Shibai's series planner Norio Yamakawa and Takuya Iwasaki are also returning. Satoshi Umetsu (Oushitsu Kyoushi Heine) and Funada are credited as producers.

Yami Shibai is a short horror TV anime with moving picture animation style depicting different Japanese urban legends. Seven seasons of the anime aired between July 2013 and September 2019.

If the eps are short I might watch them anyway, but I'm not expecting anything

I read on ANN that Ninja Collection will be a horror with urban legend elements, so the same as Yami Shibai, but just focused on a group of ninja. So maybe this will be the connection

Agree with the guys above, no idea how is this connected to Yami Shibai at all. Maybe they picked one of the stories from the random episode and decided to do a full series on it, but I don't remember any episode with Ninjas in Yami Shibai, its all set in modern times.

Either ways will watch when it airs and hopefully connect the series then.

Well this came out of nowhere. I look forward to it though, since I "love" Yami Shibai and am curious to see how they connect.

I've been checking if MAL is talking about the YS I know or was I mistaken. It turns out it is related to it. I love YS, so of course I'll watch it. I'm just so curious how is it a spin off. They look as two different anime.

A YS Spin-Off sounds oddly interesting, Hopefully it's not as much of a disappointment as the most recent season Of YS.

What a weird thing to see. I mean, I love Yami Shibai, so obviously I am watching this, I just cannot imagine what the mood is going to be here. If they are going for Ghost Hunt levels of cheese then I am so ready.

No idea how this is even remotely related to Yami Shibai aside from some production talent on this show having worked on YS, but I'll watch it I guess....

This visual looks nothing like yami shibai but since yami shibai has ran out of ideas anything different is welcome
