Not gonna lie the change in staff is kinda disappointing considering the people behind S1 did gave their all to make the series entertaining despite being the typical fantasy show. While I think it's good enough to work, it just feels off to an extent.

Really the only issue I have with S1 was the filler final episode but even that was more because it felt like an OVA.

looks really generic now. A pity..

People who talk about animation know what lol is talking about?

That artstyle change tho it looks mediocre, I hope the animation gonna be good. Decent staff I guess.

They look a lot like the art they used in the first PV of the game

By the way, people who expect "characterization" know that the game is not over yet and characters like Eugen develop in the second arc of the story?

The first season is an excellent adaptation that even improved the original material. The good thing is that it seems that they adapted all the rest of the first arc of the story since a symphonic version of the ending of this is heard in the background

Dope! I really enjoyed the first season... I just hope it still focuses on Gran and his party, and doesn’t completely flip it to the cast of the one-off, special episode.

Didn't like the first season all that much, but MAPPA has slowly become a favorite studio of mine, so I may give this a chance.

As a fan of Darkfeast Bat deck in Shadowverse, I'm more than happy to see Vira.
Ferry too!

PogChamp, fall 2019 will be the season of the year.

I hope all side character got a major design change and retain the animation quality.

I dont understand why people hate s1.
it is the same as any other shonen we fucking see anyway, but it dont really complicated and too exagerating like 'mc relative is dead' so he want to be a hero or some shit.
MC clearly want to be a sky farer like he wanted at same time looking for his lost grand father iirc (cmiiw).

MC look like a shit because he mostly not in the center of the spotlight cause all characters get a decent screentime and not so much drama between the characters.

Really excited, I liked the first season a lot.

I had no problem with the animation, it was the lackluster plot and terrible characterizations that made me need a month long break before finishing it.
Maybe new staff will make it suck less.

Also the Happy voice for the small flying animal sidekick -bothered me

I've tried the browser game back when the anime was airing and I guess, it felt kinda weird so I stopped. Heard it was one of the better gacha games out there. Probably going to do well too since I'm expecting the BD for this to also have an item exclusive just like the first season

Mixed feelings about this. If there's one thing I liked about the first season it was its artstyle and with the studio change it seems it has lost it, shame. But if sacrificing this, means that I can like the overall show more, then I'm fine with it... And I don't remember the animation being bad in S1...
You're not remembering wrong, it did look good. I guess people were off put by the thin outlines, which was what made it stood out. The new art looks really generic ngl

Studio change? Well not bad. I must see season 2 now.

While I never could get into the first season because it wasn't for me the visual style looks less unique. The one thing the first season had going for it was a unique presentation. And from what little I saw I can't believe people were saying it was animated poorly. It had some really cool scenes from what I remember and have seen.

I feel it has lost its individuality visually with Mappa taking over. The story, however, might be better with different staff though. So it makes me interested in getting into the series now.

Spoilers in this sakugabooru clip below, but when you have clips like this I have a hard time seeing this show having bad animation.

I think that whether this fails or not wouldn't really matter to the devs (Cygames) seeing that the game is monstrously popular in Japan. Really want to get into the franchise at some point, but the game seems to be too much of a time sink. Hoping this will at least be as good as Rage of Bahamut, which is one of the only decent mobage adaptations.
