Gintama Ginmatsuri 2019 (Kari) event held on Sunday has announced production to new anime for Gintama franchise. The type of the new anime has not been revealed yet.

Gintama began serialization in 2003 via Weekly Shounen Jump magazine. The manga then moved the serialization to Jump GIGA magazine between December 2018 to February 22, then moved again to official Gintama application. Shueisha published the 76th volume on January 4.

Prior to receiving a full anime series, a special episode produced by Sunrise was featured at the Jump Festa Anime Tour in September 2005. The first anime season premiered in Spring 2006 and ran for 201 episodes until Winter 2010, followed by six more seasons airing between 2011 and 2018. The manga also inspired two anime film adaptations that opened in 2010 and 2013, among several OVA episodes. The latest season of the anime series, Shirogane no Tamashii-hen - Kouhan-sen, aired last summer.

A live-action film adaptation produced by Warner Bros. Pictures premiered in July 2017, grossing over 4.6 billion yen. A sequel film premiered last Friday. The first film screened in United States and Canada on last January, and was subsequently released on Blu-ray and DVD last March.

Sentai Filmworks released the first 49 episodes and the first anime film between 2010 and 2012 on DVD and Blu-ray discs, respectively. Crunchyroll re-licensed the anime series and released episodes 266-291 through Funimation on March 27. The second part of the release containing episodes 292-316 is scheduled to be release on September 25.

VIZ Media began publishing the series in English under its Shounen Jump Advanced imprint in 2007 before the release was discontinued with the 23rd volume in 2011. The manga has also been localized in multiple foreign languages.

More fun with the Yorozuya is always welcome.

I don't know how far Sorachi can take his story, but I hope for more laughs with Gintama.

I hope that they name it, Gintama Final : End of Sky. XD

nice, i'm glad that the manga just moved platforms because a rushed ending for a series like this wouldn't do it any justice.
i'd be happy if this just kept going.

More Gintama is always a blessing. I salute Sorachi for not ending the manga and didn't succumb to tight schedule . This series deserves proper ending.

If they are no longer in the dark of how much there is to adapt then they will hopefully have more focus at the very least.

Its a damn shame production had to harm the show's final outings when up till now the anime was so much better than the source

The anime is way weaker than the manga, which of course is writen by Sorachi and the anime only exists because of it.
I don't see how just because anime exists because of the source make the source automatically become better.

Hey guys. According to news sources from Jump. Gintama is going to end in 2103. But even in 2103 a sequel will still be made.

I don't think Gintama can ever look nearly as good as the 2015 season anymore since many of Gintama's animators moved on to other stuff, or aren't animating in general. Almost all of the good animation cuts from the last two seasons were done by one person (Sasaki Youhei).

The fourth-wall breaking segment at the end of the last episode did mention that the studio had a tiny budget and a tight schedule for the final arc. I doubt the budget issue will get fixed up, but maybe they might have a more fortunate schedule.
