 The Gintama Shirogane Matsuri 2019 (Kari) event announced production for a new anime for the Gintama franchise on Sunday. The format of the new anime was not revealed. Gintama is based on Hideaki Sorachi's manga of the same name. It has been serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump magazine since December 2003. Shueisha published the 76th volume on January 4. The manga has received multiple anime adaptations since 2006, with Sunrise helming the first three anime seasons and Bandai Namco Pictures producing the rest. A live-action movie premiered last July. But we think we're gonna do it, we guess. Well, just get ready." A new season is definitely happening, but only after the manga ends. I think BNP learned to not trust Sorachi's "I'll end the manga soon" anymore. Gintama was supposed to end with Gintama°, but Sorachi didn't end the manga by then. Then it was supposed to end with Shirogane no Tamashii-hen - Kouhan-sen and Sorachi was still dicking around. Welp, time for the ninth season, and most likely the final one too. I should be certain that this is the final one, but idk, it's Gintama. The definition of "final" is about as bad as Final Fantasy's. |

| More Gintama is always a blessing. I salute Sorachi for not ending the manga and didn't succumb to tight schedule . This series deserves proper ending. |
