TV Anime Adaptation of Manga 'Hinomaruzumou' Announced

The sixth 2018 issue of Weekly Shounen Jump magazine, which goes on sale on January 4, has announced that manga Hinomaruzumou (Sumo of the Rising Sun) will get a TV anime adaptation.

Synopsis
It is a divine ritual, a martial art, a combat sport—it's sumo!! A "small" new student, Ushio Hinomaru, appears before the weak little sumo club of Oodachi High School! The words "big" and "heavy" are the rules to this sport, which does not fit this newbie any inch, but this guy goes and does what...?! Ushio and the small sumo club climbs its way to the top! The goal is Hinoshita Kaisan! (a title for the highest rank in professional sumo, equivalent of Yokozuna) A fired up high school sumo tale—no retakes allowed!! (Source: Shounen Jump, edited)

The manga is drawn by Kawada and has been publishing in Shueisha's Weekly Shounen Jump magazine since May 2014. The series currently has 17 volumes in in print, with the 18th volume to be released on January 4.

based nippon gg so many new sports anime is coming out now, looking forward to this sumo anime! haven't got to read it yet but i've heard good stuffs about it

I've never read the manga; this is my first time hearing about it and I'm not really into sumo. However the synopsis seems interesting so I will give the anime a shot. a sports anime with little to no fanservice sounds refreshing too.

It's better if it gets a one-cour to test the waters. If they pump out 51 episodes Black Clover style it'll just be a mess.

YES! More bara anime is always welcome..

Though I really want a studio other than Madhouse, I don't like what they did with All out!, it was just there.. I hope it's a good studio with good art cuz them muscles need to be drawn properly <3

who knows... i wonder how shueisha will handle that... TOEI also finishing tiger mask W which also 3 cour series, maybe they also work that way... their latest sumo also courly (2 cour IIRC) rather than long run.... they had 17 volume (might 20 when anime aired) ready to adapted....

I'm reading the manga and let me just say it's everything a sports manga should be. Really looking forward to this. I've had enough of fan service, idol oriented nonsense that are invading our lives. Talent in art and storytelling are slowly starting to prevail.

The faster these jump anime get announced the quicker theyll run out of titles before they have to announce TPN and Kimetsu anime.
