Most original anime TV usually turned out to be average/mediocr and silver link made some great anime and some bad anime.
Just hope this will be their great anime.

Actually this sounds promising. I remember studio Silver Link doing some very nice anime: Strike the Blood (nice fast paced action and music - one of the best "actio harem") and Isekai Shokudou at the moment.

But then again most other stuff was only average (Masamune-kun, Machiavellianism, Baka to Test) - and lots of other stuff I did not watch (didn't interest me) or stuff I dropped early (Nourin, Cavalry).

But I guess that also depends on the source. (Some studios often adapt boring stuff or stuff I don't like.) Original work should offer more freedom.

Then we have the staff ... I don't know about the newbie director. If it is for 10th anniversary I guess they wanted to give him a chance and develop their own style instead of using one that is already known (and maybe worked for lots of other studios). Doesn't mean it will be bad. It also depends on the setting and plot/characters. I guess he doesn't do them all by himself.

Script writer guy ... well Aldnoah.Zero and Ga-rei:Zero where he seemed to be involved doesn't sound that bad. Aldnoah was good until the end. (The usual twists most Japanese like to do.) A show with a setting like mentioned here ... I don't think such twists will be possible.

Personally I don't like all those "cute girls doing nothing" shows and the "group of 3-4 or more girls doing sports" shows.
But with 2 girls only ... there should be room for char development and relationship (rivalry or friendship) between them. (Stuff I like which is most of the time only good with male chars in certain shows.)

+ maybe a bit ganbatte mixed in because it is sports. Or some "cool" episodes (could be episodical racing against "enemy" of the week) - depends on the other teams they fight/race.

As for Shinya Kawatsura, I'm not too sure. I think he's probably done with Sakurada by the point and probably would take a break.
Theres also the fact that theres a new Non Non Biyori coming so im pretty sure hes working on this after Sakurada.

Yep that too. So I guess in other words there's no other way around it especially since this is their 10th anniversary thing. So I can kind of get them but eh.

I'll just say this; We'll see how this one goes (although I did said again I do lean a bit of hope on my end but who knows).

Newbie/Ange Vierge Director+ Katsuhiko Takamiya seriously is this the best they went with for their 10th anniversary anime.

I had thought they were saving either Shinya Kawatsura or Shin Oonuma to direct their 10th anniversary.

Yes, they also made Non Non Biyori. That doesn't mean they're immune to their own trend of pumping out trash.

Yeah sadly, Silver Link is a mixed bag really. I wouldnt discard em for that tho. They can strike gold when they want to.

Im not too sure bout this anniversary thingie tho.

Yeah, Silver Link isn't the most trustworthy studio for making quality anime. They're mostly hit or miss. I lean mostly on the miss for now because of last Winter, this anniversary title doesn't help it either(atm).

Excuse me while i laugh a little over the title.

It wouldn't make too much sense but well Moodie pointed the obvious here.

>Shin Ounuma is working on the show written by the Haganai Director and had been already done with the Fate/kaleid Movie

I'm more skeptical on the director's end though. The director is... well, I guess judging newbie at face value is kind of eh, and besides sometimes I think the prior work was more of a practice wrong. Who knows.

It would be pretty hilarious if their 10th anniversary anime came out to be shit.

Lol that's really fucking terrible. I'll make sure to remember that name.

Ok gotta ignore the nonsense lets get to the meat of this.

So this is the Silver Link original anime that was hinted in Newtype some months ago. I am glad they are doing what they do best. Their cute have never been criminally bad, in fact, it has been some of their best. Compare SL's action anime to this is pretty stupid. Especially since it's only been recently that mobage like Ange Vierge or Battle Girl High School has plagued their fairly consistent track record. Yes, they probably will never top their early works that had Oonuma Shin heavily involved in the decisions, however claiming they are hit and miss is a false statement. They have some misses but what studio doesn't. As a studio their art work has been great, backgrounds are top notch, and character designs are always appealing. Just because certain genre's or source materials dont appeal to you doesn't make them as a studio bad. It means you don't like some works.

But to speak about this series itself, I am very excited to see what they will do with an original script. Takayama Katsuhiko has been working with Silver Link for some time now as Series Composition. I am glad he is doing more work with them. In fact he has been working with Oonuma since the days he was at SHAFT. Looks like this is an important role for him being that this is their anniverasy project.

Sawairi Yuuki the character designer for this series also migrated with Oonuma Shin from Shaft to Silver link and has been growing ever since. His first character design was Masamune-kun no Revenge and that looked great when it was on model. I can't wait to see his art again.

While its true Tamura Masafumi directed the dreaded Ange Vierge series, most of the fault was with the story itself not his direction. His visual vision was the reason I kept going on with it.

Overall its a promising staff for their original anniversary project. I would have wanted Oonuma Shin but he is busy doing Imouto sae Ireba Ii. and just finished the Illya movie. The summary in itself gives an added gimmick to the cutesy genre which is a plus. Look at the "car" tag which is basically a racing tag. We barely have racing anime. Who wouldn't want moe racing anime?

Unlike the infinite fujoshiXspots we are getting some more female and sports anime.

When I read "original anime to commemorate studio's anniversary" I immediately thought: wasn't there some utter garbage made other studio for the same reason...? Indeed there was, P.A. vomited something so bad I apparently repressed the memory of it, since it took me a while to remember what it was called and studio that made it. Sure, SL doesn't have as abhorrent track record as P. A. but I still feel it's something to avoid. Especially with that premise.

Last time you did that with SL was with Isekai Shokudou and its mostly because of the fact that they had Jinbo as the director (I can't talk much on Chaos;Child's behalf because I haven't seen it but...) And while I personally don't like it, it does work well on his end for what it's doing. You threw it off automatically like that.

Now, I may sound like I'm salty or anything but not really but I see that you did that previously and it turned out differently for some people to be honest. Dunno. These are my two cents.
I didn't really think anyone was keeping track of that. You are right, I did have heavy disdain towards that one. However, I stand by my judgement. Maybe I'll go check that one out to see how off-base I was.

However, I really believe in my opinion in this thread. Thanks for bringing that up though.

My memory can be shit a lot of times but I did remember that when you gave that comment (the first one). I'm not trying to change your judgement but I wanted to bring that up as a way to back up my own opinions on the matter, despite having no actual clue of the director's previous show that he worked on. Same can be applied with this one in a sense with the judgement (the second paragraph) (although dunno how it will go since this is more of an original, so there's no actual source material to judge on so, will leave that up to further information).

I think despite that I do see why you did that but at the same time it feels rather thrown off on my end (again, probably a bit of a nitpick). But this is just me being a bit picky so I'll probably digress on this one, won't try to change your own decision since that for me comes off as something forced. So I'll leave the decisions up to you I guess.

And you're very welcome.

Well the director and the script writer are a big no sign but I kind of have a slight hope over here... because honestly?

Okay, yeah Tatsuhiko Takayama is a pretty shitty script writer but because of Sakurada Reset (which I actually found it a decent Mystery show) I have some slight hope here with it. Hopefully it turns out well. Besides, sidecar motorcycle racing? That sounds kind of fun. At least to me I suppose. We'll see.

Tiv participating in this is pretty nice of an addition though so I'm looking forward to that and its character designer/music composer too.

as if that somehow pertains to the state of SL's current approach which is what I was talking about.

Someone told me to cut SL some slack, so I moved on to the part that really determines the quality of work: The source, and the staff.

Are you telling me we can't predict how well a title will turn out by its participating staff members? That we cannot extrapolate based on previous titles the outcome when a mixture of said members comes together?

cmon man
if you didn't want to argue with me, what did you come here for

You can get the idea of the show but you can't really predict if it will turn out good or bad to be honest.

Like for example you can have the idea that a show can be low expected because of the staff or the source but it doesn't mean that it'll possibly be bad by a default. Sometimes its better to play it safe to have low expectations or none before making further judgement as a whole I guess, but again it won't mean like 100% bad.

Last time you did that with SL was with Isekai Shokudou and its mostly because of the fact that they had Jinbo as the director (I can't talk much on Chaos;Child's behalf because I haven't seen it but...) And sorry if my wording becomes a major clusterfuck btw.

I wrote something, which someone disagreed with. When someone tried to tell me my thinking was irrational, I gave them evidence. Now that they have evidence, they ask me why I care. Gimme a break.

Nobody asked you to explain your opinion, and I couldn't care less about this show in particular. But you went through each staff member as if that somehow pertains to the state of SL's current approach which is what I was talking about.

Music and character designs are secondary considerations when being objective. How much does Tiv's style and Lantis' music (lol) matter when we consider how much of a trainwreck this really could be.

Objective? Kek. Dude, your opinion is not superior to anyone's, so stop pretending it is by labeling it 'objective'. Objectivity doesn't even exist when it comes to fiction.

Besides, saying music and character design are 'secondary' only shows your lack of knowledge on the role of those things in anime. Music and character design aren't only the 'icing' of the cake, like many people think, they are as much the cake itself as the story is.
