Just comparing the Aqours 1st Season CD sales and µ's 2nd Season CD sales, the numbers are very similar, so it is more appropriate to compare Aqours to the 2nd Season rather than the 1st Season, where µ's actually had to build their fanbase. Aqours only needs to convince the current massive Love Live! fanbase to support them and possibly get new fans to the Love Live! franchise. I wouldn't compare Aqours to µ's in their Movie era yet, because that's when µ's pretty much reached their peak in popularity and success.

These sales just shows that Aqours is well behind μ’s. Can the upcoming 1st live in February and/or a 2nd Season anime increase their sales, or are they doomed to forever be in μ’s' shadow?

I feel bad for Aqours.

Do you have the data for the µ's season 1 BD sales per volume? All I found is the average BD sales of LL S1 which is 29k and yeah.. 23k is quite disappointing, for LL standards of course. 15+K for other anime series is considered a juggernaut

Agree with that, same people say every 'generic' harem sells well also despite never looking at all to see that is so far from the truth.

I'm not surprised about Keijo!!!!!!!! doing as bad as it did. It wasn't popular in Japan to begin with. It was already doomed: doing under 2k but under 1k? Holy shit that's bad.

It is slightly higher vs LL 2nd Season Vol.2, but that's because of the 1st Live Day 2 event ticket serial code bundled on it.

Would like it to be more/higher up but not everyone can have superior taste in anime~

A bit surprised that working actually managed to sell 3.2k. It's not that I think it's bad or anything like that and I'm watching it... but I expected less tbh
