It was announced that an original TV anime titled Soushin Shoujo Matoi (Matoi the Sacred Slayer) will be scheduled to broadcast in Fall 2016. A pre-screening and stage event will be held at the Kyoto International Comics and Animation Fair 2016 on September 17. The two main cast members will host the net radio show on YouTube, which will begin in August.

There are two girls who are in training to become Miko at the Tema Shrine: Matoi Sumeragi and Yuma Kusanagi. Matoi Sumeragi lived with her grandparents on her father's side because her mother left her since she was young, until the second year of junior high school when she finally was able to live with her father since three months ago. Matoi yearns to live a simple life. Yuma Kusanagi is the daughter of a family who lives at the shrine and is expected to become the next Miko. She knows that her ancestor used Taimakou, a technique to exorcise evil spirits and invites Matoi to challenge the ritual called Kamikagari using the skill of Taimakou.

One day after school on the way to the shrine, the two girls go to meet Yuma's parents, but discover that they have fallen in pain. Shingo, who is Matoi's father, and a police officer involved in investigating the case, discover a man giving off an unusual aura. To stop this man, Yuma calls out Kamikagari, but something happens to Matoi.

The girl who yearns for a simple life has a power to exorcise evil spirits? In order to get her simple life back, she goes on a task to exorcise evil spirits.

For once I'd like to see a new original anime that isn't some magical fantasy bullshit, or something that's trying to bandwagon on the latest light novel adaptation trend. But since this is by White Fox, I will at least give the first episode a shot.

This series will either turn into a dark Madoka-esque magical girl series or it will be similar to one of White Fox's cute slice of life series series that's full of lolis. Forgot the title.

I'm most likely going to watch this series since it's by White Fox, a studio that's recently becoming my top favourite studio due to Re:Zero.

I don't know why but I can already see people pitting this against Flip Flappers, that's also going to air on fall.

Definitely going to watch this though.

I mean I like White Fox and the recent stuff they've made so I'll definitely give this a watch.

All in all though, I really hope once they wrap up production with this show that they'll go into making Steins;Gate 0.

The art looks kinda cute, and the premise isn't half-bad, so I'll check this out.

Magical girl exorcists? Alright, I think I can dig it.

I wonder if its gonna be a good old cute magical girl anime to calm down after re:zero or going in for another dark one and trying to pull out a madoka magica.
I mean, with White Fox its possible.

After Re:Zero I won't be surprised it it turns out to be more like Madoka or Yuki Yuna.
