Bandai Vidual and its subsidiary music label Lantis announced that their anime songs will be available for download in US iTune Store this summer. Beginning with JAM Project songs, they will add anime songs of Hirano Aya, Ali Project, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Lucky ☆ Star to the lineup every two-three weeks.

Bandai Vidual obtained an official account in MySpace and promotes the anime song business in US.

Hmmm ANime songs in the US...

Yeah works for Americans
And the rest of the world just does what it probably already do, and just download elsewhere anyway...

Unless they are songs you cant get anywhere else... i dont see the point

I probably already have the songs they are going to put on

Only available in the US store? That's basically asking for you to illegally download if you aren't American. Not that I use iTunes anyway. Or want most of the stuff being added. But it's the principle of the thing.

That's pretty cool.

All I can say is: It's about time!

Looks like they're just looking for an additional revenue stream.

Interesting. I wonder how well this will go. I don't see a particularly large market for it in the US, as most fans that collect want actual CDs, and more casual 'fans' don't pay at all.

Yeah, basically that. ^ I agree.

Yay. Too bad this wasn't around when I was frustrated with my lack of US iTunes selection a while back. It almost felt like a giant stamp in the face saying YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO BY JAPANESE THINGS, YOU ARE A FOREIGNER!

Well, this doesn't change the fact the idea of region differentiation is disgustingly gross.
But it's a step in the right direction.

Glad to hear it ^^ I have some anime CDs, but not many, since I tend to have trouble finding them. Plus.. isn't Bandai publishing the Hayate anime now? I want that soundtrack...badly.

Uhhh Really?! *facepalm*

Chances are that Australia will never get any of this stuff to buy.

Hell, most of the stuff on iTunes we can't get cos it's not available here.

So not really that great a piece of news, unless people start sharing what they download.

Sweet. That's awesome. But I never buy anything from iTunes. D=

Limewire ftw!~

and this

though it does sound like a quirky idea, i'm not positive its a viable cash option. i suppose it doesn't take much to market digital media though so maybe cash expenditure may be small compared to the prospective gains
