It looks promising and interesting, but that artstyle is a big no-no for me

Anything directed by Yuasa is an insta-watch, the Tekkon Kinkreet director is a plus.

This looks interesting, and ping pong is something I haven't seen in an anime yet. Definitely on my to-watch list.

I tried to read the manga but then the art happened.

I guess I would have to wait for the anime with improved art hopefully.
It's Yuasa. Have you seen any of this other works?

No, but what does that have do with the art of the manga?

Actually wait, The Tatmi Galaxy was directed by him.
Yes, though the artstyle isn't his. If you look at his other works they're usually quite sketchy and what people can see as ugly.

I meant it as if you didn't like the manga's art, he will probably make it looks pretty sketchy and similar to the manga. I believe this and this was in the trailer for Ping Pong.

Well if it's going to be like the Tatmi Galaxy's art style then I will love it. Hopefully it's not like Kaiba and Kemonozume. From the trailer it's seems better than the manga's art.

More manga adaptations (And from sport genre to boot) is always welcome. This means there will still be noitaminA show in spring to look forward to after Gin no saji ends

WTF is that? No one plays ping pong like that, screw dat shit, this is no badminton.

Damn was hyped because I used to play ping pong, but.. ugh they're just going to make it looks "cool"? Sighhh, let's see how this will turn out.

Well, shame on you. If I remember correctly, that image isn't from a proper panel nor a ping pong game, it's just one of those images authors often draw on the chapter title page or volume introduction. It's just to display the quirkiness of the character. A single 225 x 350 image is hardly going to represent what the manga or anime have on offer.

But of course it's going to portray ping pong in a cool way. It is cool. Why would a sports manga ever portray its content as boring or drab. The manga perfectly captures the intensity of professional ping pong, chapter 49 especially is told completely without dialogue. The game flows both brilliantly and impressively. The manga also includes relevant terminology and knowledge of the sport. Taiyo Matsumoto was commissioned to travel abroad to research, write and draw his first manga for a magazine, which was a sports manga about baseball. He has known right from his roots not to cut corners, and he doesn't with Ping Pong. As someone who used to play ping pong, you would probably love the manga.

Never read the manga, but I'll follow the anime. Just saw the PV and I am dying to see more.

waaat, never expected this to get an anime adaption!
I've actually thought about reading it a while ago (because of my love for table tennis..), decided not to in the end.
Nice, I'll definitely watch the anime.
