My guess for the absurdly high price for the North American release is probably because the distributors in Japan are worried about reverse importation of the DVD's. Since the release in NA is almost simultaneous to the Japanese release, if the price were that much cheaper in a America, people in Japan would just import the version that was released there since it is virtually the same. Also, Im assuming that KnK will probably not get dubbed in English any time soon since Aniplex is willing to do this American release in February.
Well, I can say that they nailed suckers like me. This time i think i may just "support the industry"

The box looks really nice, but why the fuck so damn expensive?
I mean oh my gosh...
In germany they are currently releasing the series one by one... hope our box, if we get one won't be as expensive as this one.
unfortunately only on DVD and not on Blu-Ray
True, but it
1. is a lot cheaper
2. includes a dub
3. includes the soundtrack, which isn't included by this box apparently.
I'm sure KnK looks phenomenal in HD, but for that price I'd rather stick with my DVDs (and hope a cheaper Blu-Ray box comes out one day :p )

Price is ridiculous, wouldn't even buy it if it was halved. Decent series so far though (I've only seen the first 4 movies but I plan to finish em all this break).

I would have paid normal prices (i.e. western price = $30) for each of the movies separately but a little under $60 bucks for each part? No freaking way.
Edit: Evidently $400 is the discounted price, the MSRP is $600. LOL.

much for a mediocre anime series. It's like buying a Xbox 360 all over again
I smelll a troll, yessir i do.
Calling the awesomeness of Knk a "mediocre anime series" should be considered a symptom of mental illness.
Anyway as fo rnews....soooooo buying it....preferably three copies, so i can safeguard one in vacuum or something, unopened, gift the other and enjoy/use the third :3

^Im not sure what dub you are talking about. To my knowledge, there is only Japanese audio for KnK.
My post referred to the german release of KnK. We only get it on DVD, but it includes a german dub and the soundtrack.
