Contrary to popular belief, you can actually watch and finish every anime that ever existed (that is available to watch). You'll just need to burn a couple decades of daily anime marathon (with dayoffs obviously), and you'll catch up to everything eventually. Would you do it though? I will personally, this is going to be my retirement plan. Mangas is a different story though, I'll invest in immortality technology for that.

Edit:"I'm just gonna watch the good ones." How would you even know that it's good before watching it? Most of my favorites (animes that I rated 9 to 10), I don't even know that it's good before watching it. And this probably one of my biggest motivation for this shit. "What about the shit you hate?" Fast forward is a thing. That's practically cheating, but a wouldn't watch the same bs a trillion times. "What about your obligations?" As I said this is my retirement plan (and I'll still watch a bunch of shit, even if I'm still schooling/working), and who cares about social life, when you have watched every anime that existed before you're 40.

It's a cool thought for sure lol. Like I'm sure some would love to do it just to be that guy who did. But people would have stuff like schooling and/or work to prioritize.

If it was possible, and my job could be something involving watching anime, that'd be one of my goals lmao.

that would be kind of impossible cuz u would have to go to college or work and new anime come out every other season and if u watch anime as an obligation its just boring and u would not be able to bring urself to watch it and if u even watch every anime that ever existed will u be able to remember all of that cuz i cant even remember the whole anime i watched a year ago

I once did the math and determined that it would take as many hours per week as a full time job to keep up with all new and currently airing anime. Catching up all those past decades of existing anime would be relegated to your spare time.

It'd be cool to see someone achieve it of course, but I personally think it's a bad idea. I don't even think it's possible.

For one: you can't possibly enjoy every anime you watch, so once you run out of enjoyable anime it would be hard to do something you don't like doing.

Second: You won't have enough time... if anime is getting in the way of work, college, and other events then it's not worth it.

Anime is supposed to be something that's enjoyable, not ruining your life and wasting time.

Another problem is where to find, order, store and download all that anime, especially if you are not in Japan. It would cost you a fortune and you'd waste precious time managing collections

Watch 2-3 episodes and add 26-52 episodes in your list instead and rate series 2/10, you will be forgiven and justified due to reaching enlightenment.

you can watch every anime relased today but by the age you are 60 or whatever
there will tons of other animes so it's basically impossiple cause you don't know the rate that animes are going to be produced in
just keep it simple

I wouldn't do it. I don't like every genre out there,Life is too short and I have other interests besides anime.

Ehh no. As much as I love anime, I ain't going to waste my life watching LITERALLY every single anime. I have friends to hang out with and school plus work.

Ok, I'm sorry but this is the biggest load of bullshit I've ever seen in my life. This guy obviously added almost every anime that he could possibly find to his list. It's not hard because I could create a dummy account right now and spend 3 days adding every anime in existence.

Let's say that this person has actually watched almost 14k anime then he hasn't seen a pussy in his life lmao.

So this is in some fantasy world where all of the anime that have been lost to time are rediscovered and you can actually watch them all? Through this same magic will they all be translated into our respective languages or will we have to deal with a huge percentage of them only being in Japanese raw (or Chinese/Korean for those shows)?

Would we be paid for this in some way or is our savings going to be the determining factor on how long we're able to continue this for? It sounds like a pathetic existence to do nothing but watch anime. If I was doing some sort of service by putting in my 40+ hours a week of watching anime then I'd do it, but if the idea is that eventually you'll just lose the challenge and have to go back to working then it wouldn't be very fun.

First learn Japanese to a profficient level, because not everything is subbed.

Then get ready to buy stuff, because not everything is online.

Then track and treasure hunt stuff that is discontinued.

Then move to Japan, because some things never left the domestic market or are limited to the viewers like the shorts at the Ghibli museum or the specials that only come in local theatrical releases.

If at this point you are still ready and willing to watch everything, think about what you'll be exposed to. How many iterations of the genre or the trope you dislike, of the kink you are disgusted by, of the animation/artstyle that gives you a headache.

In short: it's not worth and it's tiring. Not even academics and historians of the medium are required to watch everything there is.

Nope I have no interest in half the anime that gets released each season and I won't force myself to complete anime just for the sake of growing my list or for a impossible goal of completing all anime in existence.

Schopenhauer was more pessimistic. He believed happiness was a fleeting illusion, dependent on desires that, once fulfilled, only lead to new ones. In The World as Will and Representation (1818), he writes:

“Life swings like a pendulum backward and forward between pain and boredom.”

And why would anyone bother watching all of the anime that has ever been produced? It seems like a waste of time and effort.

It's something I wanted to do before I die.

That's why I'm trying to be less active in other social media.

My goals in life are:

1) Watching all Anime in existence (obviously available)
2) Learn Japanese and go to Japan.

I don't care about anything else.

Highly doubtful, and even if I could I don't have the mental stamina to force myself to watch the incredible amount of trash anime I have to subject myself to in order to "finish all the anime".

@JomyS spacecowboy hasn't been active since January 2024. Do people have actual proof that he died? Or that he was really born in 1930?

I've other forms of fiction like reading mystery novels and manga and to immersing myself in Japanese dramas specifically those with Nanao and chiaki kuriyama and there are Hollywood flicks and mysteries series and those mystery specials produced by hallmark.
I'm true cultural connoisseur.

No, thank you. I don't even like certain genres and themes at all. It would be a torture to watch all those shows.
