Nice job Orange, great adaption (must've said that a hundred times already^^).

Sadly the last episode was slightly more rushed than others, but they presented Juno's dance nicely. Still think that the romance between Haru and Legosi is one of the more natural in anime - especially when it comes down to what stands in their way. In most shows it is just the stupidity of the characters. Here (at least in this season) the progress is hindered by pretty substantial problems that a relationship between vastly different species will have. Though I will admit that I dislike the Shishigumi HQ assault that was obviously used by Itagaki as a kickstarter for their relationship (and to get some shounen in this... shounen).

I think I don't have to mention that Beastars is AotY for me. It's also one of the very few stories where I read the manga and also watched the anime.

I think Orange selected the right scenes because the first season centers around Haru's and Legosi's relationship. If I recall correctly they didn't omit anything major from it. Sadly some other characters got the shaft, especially Bill who becomes nearly transparent after his performance. I think they hit most of Louis' major scenes. Wonder if people will write in their reviews that the gun scene was missing, like it's some curse on the show :D

Im not entirely liking Haru and Legosi's relationship but it makes everything exciting and fun so why not?. Didn't expect for this anime to be good, especially the characters were likeable and the story was atleast for me interesting because it is all about animals. Would like to see Louis again after seeing this episode last part.

This show was infinitely better than I thought it was going to be and I'm so glad for that, and that season 2 was announced so fast

I love Beastars so much, it is on the same level as Banana Fish (My favourite anime of all time which I hold in such a high regard)

But I need more, now, I didn't even do this with Attack On Titan and I waited like three years without a new season even being announced but I have to have more. I'm going to read the manga, I dont normally because ive never been a fan or reading manga but I actually need to I just finished the episode a few minutes ago. I need more im literally hnnnngggggg

Does anyone know what chapter beastars has left off on for me to start? I also know most of what they cut out from the manga btw

You can start with chapter 48. It is a more detailed version of the scenes shown during the credits of episode 12.

Nice ending! Juno is showing Haru to mind her own business ^^; but she doesn't understand Legoshi have feelings for Haru which showed Juno to be quite possessive.

Can't wait for Season 2 and it's going to get darker!

Not my favorite one, but indeed one of the best ones of the season...

Top Score in Fall 2019 in this moment, well deserved. (Kono Oto Tomare, Boku no Hero and Shokugeki no Souma, none of those deserved to be at the top this season)

Ill be waiting the second season..

PS: i hope they improve only one thing: "the walking", sometimes the characters had some weird reactions/physics when walking...

Pretty good anime, I liked all the episodes except episode 10, that one was just too dumb for my taste with the Rambo shenanigans going on with an untrained wolf and an old panda with barely any weapons defeating a mafia consisting of thirty-something LIONS which I consider to be stupid and absurd, is that the mafia that had the whole town scared? give me a fucking break, they were pathetic and only made this anime look worse.

Aside from that dumb episode 10 I was pleasantly surprised with this anime, episode 12 felt a little bit overly-dramatic for my taste but it was still a good ride, I'll definitely be watching season 2 when it comes out.

Final rating: 8/10

BTW, I'll be watching "Land of the Lustrous (Houseki no Kuni)" next because I got interested in this studio, I'm a guy that usually hates CGI in animes and because of that I never watched that one but I will give Land of the Lustrous (Houseki no Kuni) a chance because that studio definitely knows what they are doing with the CGI usage.

Fucking fantastic. God that was such a well-done emotional episode, I'm so, so invested in Legosi and Haru's lives at this point and their relationship in the span of 12 episodes has more depth and actual complexity/intrigue than most romance shows try to push with 24 episodes.
Thank you Orange, can't fucking wait for season 2. Definitely hands down my anime of the season.

Definitely the best thing to come out or finish this season, and beats the overwhelming majority of shows this year. This last arc, specifically the previous episode, (because of the fights) wasthe only shaky part, but it was otherwise largely without any significant flaws.

Like the romance. Intrigued by the love triangle. Hopeful with the character development. Interested in seeing more world building with background characters. But disappointed with no progression in the initial murder storyline. What? Are there no police to investigate or will this be children solving a case (even tho they lack the expertise or know how to do so)? 7/10

Great finale!

Juno has been officially rejected. I've a feeling she saw this coming anyway but that was a good little fight to re-ascertain Haru's feeling for the popular wolf lol. Resulting in the sweet little confession there in the end, pre-ED. And the new ED theme to top it off, brilliant stuff! Loved that little scene of the chicken making a comeback too, lol.

Interesting start to the episode with the monologues though I've got to say, Studio Orange have done a fascinating job with this show! Of course they haven't gone that far yet lol. Juno's confirmation of that after the walk-jog-run scene and Haru with the "Why do I keep attracting wolves?" remark was hilarious.

Where's the Panda though lol? And seems like Loius either got eaten for real (which I don't think is the case) or in some sort of trouble at least, hopefully we'll get to that next season!

Overall, this has been a definite dark horse of the season and potentially the year. Animation/Artstyle aesthetics in particular, thanks to Studio Orange, was brilliant! Ground-breaking CGI from the industry, I reckon. I really liked how much attention they put into the character movements in particular and the choreography of the Op. I can't wait to see what they've in store for us next season!

Romance between the main leads and the world-building were other impressive departments of the show, imo. Immersive world and the society aspects on multiple fronts were brilliantly dealt with and the romance very unconventional but welcoming. Soundtracks had a very jazzy feeling to it and it perfectly fit the tone of the show so big props for this too. Op and ED themes were great too and likewise for the VA department.

All in all, a solid 8/10 from me.

God, that Season 2 teaser with the killer though. Season 2 can't come soon enough!

Started off as a very good 7 or 8 / 10, however since the kidnapping part it just steadily went downhill. Ending was extremely generic and once again we have an anime that is too afraid to breach the "sex" boundary (at least between the MCs).

The finale was not satisfying in the least so it gets a 5/10 from me. Hopefully the next season end off stronger.

Also, yes I am aware there is a manga. This is an anime review.

This was okay finale but the cliffhanger was awesome! Overall for me the first ten episodes were outstanding shounen 8/10 at best and then the last two episodes weren't very interesting because I don't really dig romance stuff in shounen shows and this show went way too deep into this matter and took long to finish. Still this shounen start very promising tackling the uninteresting part first which other would save for later. Still my final verdict is aoty and the next season seems like will delved something like murder mystery which kind of the stuff I dig alot (reminds me how black butler show tone changed on s2 compare to the first). I really hope that better comes in early 2021!

I'm a fan of the manga and the Anime. I was a bit worried about the CGI in the beginning but loved it more than most of the series that I watched this season. This and Vinland Saga are both my top series for this year. Yes, there was Mob Psycho 100 II and that's one of my best series of the decade but I usually don't count continuing series.

Both this and Vinland Saga get a 10/10 for me, yes, I'm a huge fan of both their original manga and am probably biased but I'm also a fan of many manga and their Anime counterparts did not get a 10/10 from me.

I'm just so fucking excited that this is getting a second season! I'm so happy and I'll watch the English dub too even though my heart will always favor the original Japanese cast.

Yeah, I also read that same thing from other people, what happened in the manga was at least a bit more believable (even though, it was still quite absurd...) because the Panda was at least armed to the teeth but the anime made that scene look way more retarded because the Panda barely had any weapons with him and they still defeated the mafia that had the whole town scared. I knew that Rambo operation was going to be bad when I saw the first lion with the gun talking crap instead of shooting with his damn gun, this anime/manga didn't needed those type of unrealistic attempt to make it look good, this was looking pretty damn good without it and those unrealistic attempt only made it look worse.

They could have handled that scene better than that, instead of going all Rambo they could've be more subtle about it, for example, create some fire to have them rush out, then sneak in and get rid of the electricity and once the building is all dark then the wolf can use his sense of smell to sense the rabbit while the mafia tries to find out what's happening. This stealth operation would still be quite retarded but it would at least be more believable than going Rambo style and defeating the mafia head-on. *sigh*

so ur saying legosi and haru shpuld fuck already when 1. They're not even dating yet let alone confessed their feelings and kissed and 2. Their physical differences and having to get over that and 3. Their animalistic instincts. Remember, they're not humans. They can't just fuck any time like we humans can. They're a wolf and a bunny, where one's innate instincts is to eat the other. It ain't that easy. You can't treat this like any other anime.

I agree with that part. My assumption is that Itagaki wanted some pure action in her show (or maybe the readers wanted it, it *is* in a shounen magazine afterall).

Whether the anime is doing the scene worse than the manga... I already stated that I find the machine gun part really stupid. It is obviously an homage to rambo, but it is so terribly out of place. In the manga they fight 10 lions at the same time, which is also pretty bad, whereas in the anime it's usually around 3 at once (and then ascend the building further). I find the overall presentation of the scene better in the anime as it's more dynamic. That they (especially Gouhin) can defeat them in a fistfight is not that believable, but I can somewhat let that pass.

The really bad part is the fact that so few of this feared lion mafia are using guns. Both in the manga and anime version. Because if they had guns, none of this setup would even remotely work - not even with panda having an MG. Highlighting how nonsensical it actually is. This is actually one of the reasons I don't mind that that one gun scene was cut from the anime. Itagaki uses guns very inconsistently. I get the feeling she sees them not as a crucial part of this world and uses them more for shock value, which is cheap. So the anime downplaying that element was actually fine for me.

The problem is, it started off unique(ish) and then in the second half became just like any other anime. The first half was awesome. Then the generic kidnapping stuff happened and (as far as I'm concerned) it went down hill. Also the fact that he was able to take out 32+ armed gang members with his fists and a bamboo gun was ridiculous. He went from a relatable character to a generic mary sue in the course of 1 episode. This anime had some good moments, which is why I'm giving it an rating of 5/10, aka "average".

A much talked about manga series that finally got an anime adaptation. I'd avoided the manga but decided to give the anime a chance and, I think, I'm glad I did. I was expecting something of a mystery series given the opening murder but, that ending stinger aside, they really didn't address that too much after the first episode or two. Just a brief nod at the memorial picture here and there. And even now I'm only guessing that that end stinger with Legosi meeting the mysterious person is going back to that earlier murder, I could be entirely wrong on that. Instead, what this story really was was a high school/young, forbidden love story with an animal motif. I suppose you could argue it was also a comment on society with the carnivore black alley and Leo Group abduction stuff. Overall I must say I found it pretty engaging. I liked Legosi and Haru. I even liked Juno even though she went a bit too aggressive in this last episode, but I guess I can't really blame her even if she had no chance. I liked Louis too, though my feelings on him are admittedly a bit mixed, though in a good way. Despite that final scene of him offering himself up to the lions I have a hard time truly believing he's dead. I suspect he'll turn up again, but we'll see I suppose. I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing how the story continues in season 2. Solid 8/10, a contender for anime of the season for sure.

Oh and just a couple more thoughts. While the 3d cgi character models were annoyingly distracting at first I got used to them quickly enough. Though I still prefer anime avoid using them whenever possible it's a testament to the series that I enjoyed it as much as I did even with them. And secondly, my favorite thing about this show hands down was that stop motion(at least I think it was stop motion) opening. Both the song and the look of it were fantastic. Watching Haru and Legosi dance like that to start each episode was always absolutely adorable. Honestly I wouldn't mind them keeping it for season 2 as well, though they probably won't.

kidnapping isn't generic. It's the way it's delivered that's generic. To the shishigumi it's not kidnapping, but rather as casual as buying food for dinner. I blame the anime for fucking up the fighting part cause the shishigumi arc has a ton of major changes from the manga. If u don't wanna read the adapted part of the manga, that's up to you, but i recommend u watch the 2nd season when it's out cause no matter how badly the anime fucks it up i can assure u it will still be wayyyy better than the 1st season that's just how magnificent the 2nd arc (tem killer arc) is

Certainly enjoyed this show, and I will certainly look forward to the next season. Although, it leaves me a little sad we won't see Land of the Lustrous S2 yet. (Well, maybe I might be proven wrong... but I got a bad feeling.)

Anyway, a good ending episode, and at the very end... of course the murderer would come in and wipe away that light feeling, and replace it with "incoming storm". I kept saying this as the series progressed, and... well, it'll be interesting seeing who the murderer is considering our boi, Legosi, knows them.

Just to list a couple of biases.
Likes: A good story, characters, writing, romance, a good plot twist or something that breaks expectations (In a good way), 'backstory' and justice.
Dislikes: Bad romance, too much fanservice, the harem genre, yuri, yaoi, and bad writing.

i do wonder if the lion mob group will be back. the leader is dead but the public are afraid of them, so shouldn't be hard for them to have a new leader and continue their reign. plus no one is going to check their compound and find anything involving Louis. Legosi and Haru better be together now or this whole thing was a waste in my eyes.

Very happy a second season was announced. Great series all around. Louis has gone rogue, but I'd be surprised if he was dead. Kinda surprised we got Haru and Legosi's relationship developing so much tbh. Juno is mildly yandere, but she's basically been flat out rejected at this point. Not sure how either her or Louis (if he comes back) will react to their relationship. I mean I guess Haru and Louis were just banging but it wasn't too serious?

I don't think this episode was as strong as the others, but the relationship between Haru and Legosi continues to be built well, taking into account their feelings, their instincts, societal expectations and so much more. Of course Legosi could and arguably should be with Juno from society's perspective, but it's not that simple at all if Legosi doesn't want it (as he clearly doesn't). Juno was clever to try and frame it and his actions as beneficial to carnivores' position in society, but I just don't think that matters much to Legosi now; if it did, he ironically wouldn't have saved Haru to begin with and Juno wouldn't have had an angle to work with.

This series has been anime of the season by a mile and, for me at least, it just about claims the title of anime of the year, and I can't wait to see what season 2 and the manga (as it's officially released in English) have in store.

Juno tried, but she wasn't able to get between Legoshi and Haru. I don't think she is going to give up soon, but Legoshi is more sure than ever about what he feels, and Haru tried to run away from her own feelings, but it seems that she couldn't. That chase moment between Juno and Haru though. xD Then there's Louis-senpai who is missing. I can't believe he is going to throw away everything he worked for after he got out of that hell hole to become a murderer or something. Maybe he felt too shackled by the way things work and felt like he had to change the world around him in another way, but I'm not sure he made the best choice. If it really ends up being something like this. Then there's the killer who ate Tem. It's someone Legoshi knows, and I doubt it's Bill, but I honestly can't remember other big carnivorous guys. I guess it's another thing to look forward to in the second season, it's great that it was already confirmed.

Beautiful final episode. The interactions between Legoshi and Haru were as emotionally deep as always and Juno's interventions were actually quite entertaining to see, being honest. Props to this series for making me feel so invested in a love triangle (love chain if we also include missing Louis to the mix).

Well... and so it concludes. It was a quite enjoyable experience overall. I honestly got my initial expectations completely surpassed with how complete this series ended up being: captivating story, likeable cast, endearing dialogues (Legoshi's inner monologues were sooo good), super interesting world-building and of course, superb animation and music directing. Seriously, this anime was such a pure delight to watch.

9/10 - Clearly AOTS for me. Now I can't wait for the second season!

Easily best anime of the season and one of the best in the year.

This show is gorgeous to my eyes, the music is superb, characters interesting and story SUPER interesting as it's in an animal setting where stuff like carnivore/herbivore stuff actually matter in their daily lives. I wanna read the manga but I enjoy watching it so much idk.

As expected, Legosi will flush over Haru no matter his conflicting feelings to have her as his own.

But as for Juno, no matter her reciprocating love for Legosi, it's clear that Haru is the only thing floating in his mind. And to meet the girl who've touched his heart, a challenge is born to impress the beta male.

Haru's conflicting feelings towards Legosi...
Legosi's moment of reconciliation but dispute...
And Juno's relentless chase towards Legosi towards both love, affection, and most importantly, acceptance. This love triangle of confusion and the difference of species sure is a wildfire.

Perfect ending point for Season 1, hope to see more in Season 2, with the stakes growing higher.

Then there's Louis-senpai who is missing. I can't believe he is going to throw away everything he worked for after he got out of that hell hole to become a murderer or something

He is going back to school. Although his ambitions may change

Then there's the killer who ate Tem. It's someone Legoshi knows, and I doubt it's Bill, but I honestly can't remember other big carnivorous guys.

There's the hint. Rewatch the scene from the first episode and watch the murderer's shadow: He doesn't have a tail and his ears are small. This guy does show in this season but only in a single frame in one of the latest episodes

So they didn't do it after, and things got somewhat awkward instead.
Juno running after Haru lmao.
Haru seems to have fallen for Legosi, but is afraid of the differences. Lmao Legosi is so smitten to Haru. She's so cute when she rants at him.
Nice confession. Legosi and Haru have had good development.
What was with the suspenseful ending. It was almost horror-like. Good S2 has already been announced.

Overrated.

Started interesting and promising but then became boring and cliche over the time. The romance is what kills this anime, imo. Forced.
