| I'll give it one or two more episodes before deciding if I want to drop. So far I haven't been impressed though. It felt like "Primitive Technology - The anime" and I've never found those videos to be interesting either. MC also hasn't really rubbed off on me yet either. Also can't stand that he has the standard "mad scientist" look with the "exploded" hair, lab coat, and they even went as far as to put "E=MC2" on the lab coat because...science. |

inim said: Knowing this is shounen I was prepared for kids with near superpowers. Because it has "science" in the official synopsis, and I love science, I gave it a shot. But holy crap. What I got was a weird de-facto isekai with some of of the worst science babble I've seen so far, only second to the butchered "Quantum Physics" in Bunny Senpai. "Polyethylen is just a long gasoline molecule with a few hydrocarbons chopped off." Yea, fuck thermodynamics, fuck chemistry, those details are for loser nerds. This perma-smirking Senku scientist-ish brat is about cool, not about getting detail right. Or anything scientifically right. "Ten billion percent", as if 100% didn't already equal certainty. And to make my day perfect, he zips a canned beverage right in the chemical lab. Goosebumps. I've lost at least "ten billion" brain cells suffering the bullshit of the first 5 minutes only. Even an ecchi like No Game No Life has it's game theory math correct. But this piece of garbage doesn't even try to get the science it bears in the very synopsis right. Hard drop. *plonk* That's the most boring route the could've chosen imo, glad the did what they did. |

| ok, yeah, i really loved this. like a lot. i'm a massive science nerd so finally getting an anime about science with legit science in it is beyond awesome. the animation is incredible - that stone turning scene was really quite gruesome and done really well. the OP is a banger too. super excited for this one! |

Julianfoxy said: Well, taste differs. But I'm not sure it would even influence "the route", because it is about diligence in language and honesty in labels, not about plot. I happily accept turning to stone, staying alive in that form while remaining brain function, etc. pp. Just label it "magic" please, and not science. Dr. Stone's world claims to be the real world, so the laws of nature apply. But the plot heavy-handedly ignores it, which leads to my cognitive dissonance between the label and the content. This is an isekai world, not the real one. At least label stuff properly and then pull any fantasy you want. Neertheless, meanwhile I made progress understanding the mechanics of Shounen story telling in another thread (https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1790727) and am a bit more relaxed about it all. inim said: That's the most boring route the could've chosen imo, glad the did what they did.Even an ecchi like No Game No Life has it's game theory math correct. LMAO you're literally saying ''You're a science guy so you can find anything anywhere''.... I think that's the point of bringing Taiju lololol. And they didn't make 'sake' they make 'wine'. Do you think there is a 'google map' or 'supermarket' to find grapes so easily ? (If Senku chooses to make sake he will need rice and that one will be a pain in the ass and so unrealistic if he actually manage to succeed on his own in 6 month). Being a 'science genius' don't make shit so easy they're literally showing that Senku empirical and theorical knowledge are limited in this world setup if he don't have the right guy next to him. However, Taiju finding grapes just in time is plot convenient. If you guys are so much triggered by this , I can't wait to see your reaction next episode hehe. |

| Starting off right away, we immediately get a sense of who our protagonists are, though I am unsure what their relationship in regards to one another is; One the one hand there is the calm, cool, calculated Senkuu and his straight edged friend (?) Taiju. Within the opening minutes we are already introduced to Taiju's character motivation and love interest Yuzuriha; as well as the catalyst that will plunge our protagonists into life-threatening danger. Everyone has been turned to stone; though it seems like everyone is still very much alive and fully aware of the world around them. The protagonists have great chemistry already, but Senkuu gives me uneasy vibes and Taiju's VA is rather annoying albeit fits his character archetype justly. I have high expectations for this series, coming off the spring season's success of the Fruits Basket remake, TMS should be able to knock this one out of the park. The character designs are genuinely interesting and scenic atmosphere is breathtaking. Based on the OP we should be getting a very colourfal and intriguing cast in the coming episodes. It is definitely too early to tell, but based on the reception the manga has received, we could be looking at another contender for the new Big 3 [my votes being MHA, KnY. I've heard great things about Shield Hero but I have yet to see it, and now Dr. Stone] I see a lot of people in this forum already complaining about the show not being realistic enough to be sold as a "science anime". Though I am the last person you'd want to ask about science, I can vouch for good story telling. It is the first episode, let the story unfold before jumping to conclusions, you will enjoy the product by immersing yourself in the world building and taking in the unique aspects the show has to offer. After all; we are watching an animated science fiction shounen (or fantasy depending on how you approach it), realism should be the last thing on your mind. Well when your sig says "life has no meaning" I'd assume you'd take this position. I think it just sets up for easy character motivation if nothing else |

| I'm loving the quality of storytelling tied in with animation and sound!! The way they did Senku's time in darkness counting was so cool and intense! I'm glad the comedic faces and stuff was really great here! I'm chill with the animation right now- hope it gets really up there (the opening style of art was incredible). |

| While i did like episode 1 quite a bit, which made me go and read the manga, that on the other hand made me worried tbh. There's no real substance to mine there. The start is solid, and there's something that will bring the story forward by a bit but that's it. There's a lot of fluff between 2 points that involve the main storyline, which foreshadows an anime which has no concrete ending but just a lot of fillers. Hope i'm wrong |

| A strong guy named Taiju arrived to school laboratory to talk with a guy named Senkuu about his love declaration. Taiju met a girl named Yuzuriha and when he was about to confess his feelings, a green light shone brightly from the horizon, suddenly, every human was turned into stone. Taiju woke up known nothing, and due to a clue in a tree, he encountered with Senkuu who woke up six months ago, he revealed that three thousand seven hundred years passed. Senkuu suggested that the nitric acid contained in the bat’s urine could be affecting the stone, so he has been experimenting without results, but it could be better with liqueur, Taiju remembered the grapes that he ate and suggested to produce wine with them. After obtaining wine, Senkuu proposed to distill it to produce brandy. Senkuu experimented with a combination with brandy and it worked and set free a bird. The first episode was not enough to judge where this anime is going to finish, sometimes it has comedy and weird decisions and others it’s very mature, the fact that Taiju survived for thousands of years thinking in a girl or Senkuu survived counting are just a joke. The animation is good and fluid, the backgrounds that they showed when Taiju woke up and discovered that thousands of years passed was amazing. This show is gonna be supported by scientific laws and experiments, so could be funny, but the comedy could kill it. It was disgusting when it appeared that Senkuu does everything excellent, fortunately he got wrong in this episode, at least, he’s not that op character that gets everything right. Do they had family? |

| It was alright. I found Taiju to be an annoying character. Senkuu was fine for most part, but his know-all attitude about “science” was a bit too much. Also, after waking up all alone after being petrified for thousands of years, Taiju seemed to be handling the situation rather well (too well if I’m being honest). It is the end of civilization, but there is no feel of panic and/or fear coming from Taiju. Psychologically, he should be a mess, but he isn’t... I guess “idiots” with big hearts like him are immune to dire situations. The overall animation was rather lackluster. Everything was kept pretty basic and to a minimum. I was hoping for more in that department considering this was the 1st episode of the series. Artwork ≠ Animation. I will keep watching for the time being. |

gadboyz said: They skip the panel that show Donald Trump was being stoned I was looking forward to that the most! D: Trump-kun's panel was removed. Booooo! Anyways, I'm glad that Kobayashi Yuusuke is doing both Senku in Dr. Stone AND Arthur Boyle in Enen no Shouboutai/Fire Force. In the manga, the dog on the leash was released and running about around its stoned master. In the anime, they made it seem like the poor doggo was stuck there forever. I love dogs whether they be in real life or Anime-form and they need love. Tsukasa's (primate high schooler) stone form looks older in the Anime than the manga. There are panels in the manga where Senku looks much older than his Anime counterpart. Overall, great first episode and I'm excited to watch more of it. |

| I'm very intrigued by the mystery surrounding this show. The viewer and characters know very little about what is going on but the lack of knowledge isn't a turn off for me. I like the art looks well done. I think this show has a thin line of being good or bad and I am eager to see where show goes from here especially since they already discovered the cure. |

| The concept of the show is interesting but I find something off in it, maybe the characters are a bit annoying, maybe there's no realism even it's about science, I think this show is that type of show that might have only an interesting foundation and nothing else, like no development, no plot twists, no great writing, it's just a concept, and I hope I'm wrong! because I like the idea of it. |

| looks decently interesting, but I still feel this will be super underwhelming. Playing the score game, 8.3 is just way too high for this. The setting is cheap, the characters are annoying, the art is bad, the story seems to be non existent. Would be better off as a short. |

| After the first episode of Dr. Stone, which manga I've been read from the begging to chapter 100, I have to say I'm 10 billion percent sure it will be worse than the manga. Of course, it is just at the beginning of the story, but I already don't like the animation It feels cheap and not very much detailed to me. Btw the story is awesome and I'll give it 10 billion percent recommendation to read. If you don't like ongoing anime then better wait for the end of story o just read all the manga already scanlated and translated. I'm 10 billion percent sure you won't be unsatisfied. |

| It was pretty interesting. I'm looking forward to more. I wonder too. It seems like the main guy's focus was reviving that girl LOL. What the hell? |

| I like the juxtaposing nature of the sublime setting with the peril of the plot, it makes for an interesting and unique world. I think that this could go far. |

ZuzuMiBachi said: Pretty good first episode Maybe i just missed something but they explain how our main characters broke free?? Was it just their determination or something lol?? We don't know all the details yet, but we know that it was because of the nitric acid from the residue created by the bats atop the cave. |

| Now, THIS is a first episode. The premise was clearly explained, there were actual characters, and the art style was atrocious. Take fucking notes, Arifureta. What a directorial debut. Everyone send Shinya Iino some love. Senku just dead-ass handed someone a bottle of gasoline to drink, lol. I love him already. It was predictable that the "Stone-ning" would take place as he was confessing his love, but I still liked seeing him try and protect the girl. It's pretty terrifying to think that they are still conscious under the stone layer. Especially if you think about just being to yourself for 3700 years. It's a miracle these two remained sane. I was wondering how Taiju got in the cave, but I assume that we are supposed to make the connection that Senku moved him there? Senku was counting for 3700 years. Damn. This is such a cool fucking premise. Isn't that the antagonist? Is it really this easy to make wine? That's certainly a creative way to shave. I'll stick to my razor though. I'm curious as to who they are going to "revive" first with this new miracle water. Loved the episode, extremely excited to see where this goes! |

Why would you assume someone is lying if he didn't like something as much as you did? Ha, my apologies then, I thought you were jumping to conclusions hella quickly! Why would he do that though lol. Why do you care why Ruyougine comments? Nurgu is obviously attention wh0ring by posting a generic comment as soon as the thread is up, without having seen the anime, then editing the comment later with a real episode-specific comment when he has actually watched it. Nothing wrong with pointing out attention wh0ring, which is a form of forum pollution that, anime gods willing, will bring him bad karma in return. May his ramen be forever powdery. |
