The eighth 2019 issue of Young Animal announced on Friday that Kentarou Miura's fantasy manga Berserk will resume serialization in the magazine's combined ninth and tenth issue on April 26. The manga entered hiatus in August last year.

The manga has been serialized in Young Animal since 1989, and Hakusensha printed the 40th volume on September 28. The manga has received multiple anime adaptations, including a 25-episode TV anime in 1997 by studio OLM, a theatrical trilogy by Studio 4°C, and a 2016 anime with 3DCG visuals produced by Millepensee and GEMBA, which continued in Spring 2017.

Dark Horse licensed the manga in English and published the 39th volume on July 24 last year. Crunchyroll licensed the latest anime adaptation for North American distribution, and released the first season in January 2018.

Been almost 2 years since I read it last time. Didn't know it's on hiatus again but it's good that it's back. Maybe it'll actually end one day.
I'm watching anime since 2012. I also play games, sometimes.

Don't bother me if you want to 'become friends' or things like that.
It's tiresome. I know you just want to collect some meaningless numbers.

Still waiting for tons of chapter to pile up so that I can binge them. That said, days of Berserk greatness are long gone.

I disagree, well if you read while it's airing it's going to be the case but exept from that kind of case for me berserk's greatness hasn't gone at all. we just have to hope kentarou ends the manga before he dies and that the ending is good.

I didn't take the breaks into account. The last 100 chapters or so have been incredibly slow and felt aimless. It was still a decent read, but not masterpiece tier anymore. I must also admit that I had some issues with the tone shift that occured later, it's been years since I've read my last batch of chapters, tho, so I can't go into details with my complaints.

well we'll just have to wait until he finishes the manga, reread everything and we'll have out opinions set up (it seems like you don't read when every chapter comes out like me if I've understood corectly. at least that's what I do, I wait until it's finished and read everything).

Sad, yet true.

Wonder how old the author is, maybe he will die from old age without ending his manga.

Yeah, first I tried to read the chapters directly after the release, but this wasn't really enjoyable since I didn't remember previous events that well.

Sadly I dropped this during the infamous boat ride. Used to love this manga, but the wait for each chapter was ridiculously long. Don't even remember how many times it entered hiatus.

I'm glad Miura still has the motivation to keep writing though. Hope he's able to finish the series.

And you probably won't as it most likely will never end lol

It's sad to think some people will have died waiting for the next chapter, especially in the boat hiatus...

The story looks so uninteresting on the latest chapters.
Chapter 365 until now has switched focus to Griffith, so I presume it's building up to the marriage scene between him and Charlotte. The past few chapters, in all honesty, could have been combined into one as they don't advance the story much. However, the art is great. I would not say that the story looks uninteresting in any breadth of imagination.

We have the cliffhanger of what happened with Casca and her recovery, which I am sure many are looking forward to. However, it's also interesting to see what is going on in the current world, where time is going at a faster pace than on the elf island. I think that the story is still interesting - the buildup to Charlotte marrying Griffith, and more importantly (at the moment), seeing the tactics that Griffith is using on the battlefield.

I find it very interesting to see how eagerly people accepted the monsters on the battlefield, despite them being horrific and still dangerous to humans. Personally, I would like to see where they go, and more development on Griffiths aspect. In addition to this, it's interesting to see how many monsters are fighting instead of humans. I wonder if Griffith will allow them to live with human society after the war is finished.

Certainly not an uninteresting story - we get to see what is going on in the 'real' world.

Why would he marry her? would he gain anything at all(since this is the motivation for all his actions)

Welcome back, pacing of hell!

As long as Berserk generates money, it will certainly continue. The loss in quality over the time is unprecedented, and the indifference on the mangaka's part towards his own series is quite evident.

MAL is a far cry from being my main literature site, that's why I won't be doing mere single chapter updates anymore. Manga- aka Baka-Updates + 2 French ones are miles better and more thorough/complete + less restricting. The latter are perfectly suited for Manga/Light Novel/Books collectors such as myself. Less stressful/tiring this way. -g-

I think this is kind of an unfair statement, Miura's art is insanely detailed so he definitely wouldn't spend so much time and effort on drawing something he's indifferent about. I hate hiatuses as much as the next person but I understand that he has his own personal life, being a mangaka is really time-consuming and he's been writing Berserk for 20+ years so if taking breaks is what it takes for him to keep it going then I'm just glad he still writes it.

As for the loss in quality, I think it might have to do with him incorporating elements he finds interesting at different points in his life into his main work (e.g. magical elements, pirates etc etc), given that Berserk has become a life project for him. Not saying I love all his choices obviously lol, I just think this is a plausible explanation.
