Theres a lot of fan art (even fan ficition) between this two and I admit, some of them are cute as fuck.

This is probably the most weird pairing in the history of mankind, but how/when did it start?

P.S. Now, before the admiin starts to locked this thread because of "Content without any purpose, coherency or relevance whatsoever." according to their rules, I need answers. I need to know in the name of science btw, helps people like me that believe the earth is round, and on the bright side, it also helps the few that are adamant about having the earth be flat.

Honest to god, I don't even know. We've pointed out to these people that they've legit interacted like 3 times and that was it and then the tumblr artists take that as shipping hints, as well as for the guys too. In all honesty, majority of people in the fanbase call them out on how it doesn't even make sense and it's legit not gonna happen, so idk why they still ship it really

*ahem* Well, I don't think it's THAT bad.

It's a nice contrast - Bakugo who's really harsh and passionate and Uraraka who's really soft and relaxed. Imagine some scenario where Uraraka helps him get over some of his issues and in return he becomes fiercely loyal.

That said, I can see why the idea feels torturous if you're super-attached to DekuxUraraka, given the relationship between Bakugo and Deku. Personally, I don't find the chemistry between Deku and Uraraka very interesting, and Deku seems more focused on being a hero anyway.

Haven't you seen the tournament arc when they faced against each other? You know, shipping can happen anywhere even for characters that aren't ever shown in the same place, that's how the power of imagination works. But here it is really quite understandable. I also prefer this ship actually instead of her and Deku, just seems more interesting with a lot of issues they'd have to overcome instead of somewhat predictable and comfortable course.

Cuz shipping is fun or something like some people just see two characters and think it clicks.

Idunno about the ship or why people ship it other than the tournament arc, but the relationship just feels boring to me. You should ask an Instagram fan page or something, those guys like their ships...

Don't worry about being lame now, you were always lame anyway!

Never take shippers or shipping seriously, the purebred shippers are some of the least intelligent on the internet. To answer your question it's cause they fought in the tourney arc, like how Shikamaru and Temari started out. I do like this pairing but it's a pipe dream.

I agree with you. And like I said above, some of the fan art are extremely cute because of their reverse polarity personality. I'm not saying its bad, its weird. On how it start.

Personally I really like this ship because I think it is way more interesting in terms of character development for both Uraraka and Bakugou... I think opposites that complement and learn from each other are my fave... also they look kinda cute together, way more than Deku x Uraraka imo

It obviously started with the tournament arc and yeah there is no more interaction between them after that but welp at least we have fanfiction, fanart and stuff but damn how I wish it had happened ):

I've seen girls arguing that bakugou is too good for uraraka and boys arguing that uraraka is too good for bakugou. No wonder why this fandom gets so much shit.

You can't expect logic from most of the shippers. They ship characters that have no/small amount of interaction with each other and threaten the author if he/she destroys that ship by making one of the characters end up with someone else. Because of this most of the stories have no closure in romance. Which sucks tbh.

In all seriousness, it does seem to be a much more popular ship among the show's female fanbase. Maybe just a metaphorical middle finger to Deku I guess? Do the Bakugo-Uraraka shipper even ship Deku with anyone? I have noticed girls are much less likely to ship the MC with other characters if it's a guy for whatever reason.

I shipped them for maybe 20 minutes after I watched the Tournament arc and that's it. I'm sure people ship them because of the typical hot-headed boy with the sweet girl. Similar to people who like to ship the MC with tsundere girls I suppose.

I think most people of the ship are well aware they will never happen, its just for fun.

Because it's a fun ship? A lot of people have already mentioned their infamous tournament arc fight
and that it's a more interesting and complex relationship than Deku/Uraraka. It's fun to see how their relationship could develop rather than just going along with only what's presented in canon. That just tends to be how shippers are. I've seen other ships that have less of a canon basis than Bakugou x Uraraka ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

When it comes to BnHA, ships and shipers tend to be plainly retarded. I mean, Bakudeku is the most popular ship in the fandom (or at least the most popular in Japan, masochism is a thing there). Like, really?

As for these two, it doesn't really make sense since Uraraka doesn't seem to be the kind of girl who'd fall for a vicious idiot.

Honestly, I think it's because Uraraka x Deku is pretty boring and Uraraka has the potential to bring interesting development for Bakugo. But lmao she'll have to be developed herself before she can be involved in any kind of pairing. I respect all kind of ships and this one makes as much sense as the Todoroki x Momo pairing.

I've read somewhere it's because Uraraka is the only person Bakugo respects because he calls her by her name or something he acknowledges her strength and fought seriously whereas Deku came up with some strategy instead of just having faith in her. And she seems to understand him, why he sulks and gets angry all the time (remember she called him out on his "yeah actually you're scared of Deku" shit). But seriously, having one fight and almost zero interaction is not enough to be an interesting pairing.
Besides, Bakugo is an annoying piece of crap. He doesn't deserve her.

I think because she is one of the few girls his age who really stood up to Bakugou. And they fought, and she did really well against him... Sometimes shippers will grasp onto small things and expand it from there.

Actually, I'd say... A majority of katsudeku is not focused on abuse. It certainly doesn't support or condone it either. Any such "condoning" is in the vast minority and quite rare to find. Usually in weird fetish stories lol.

A lot of them are it's recovery stories-- ie, Katsuki realizes he has a fucking problem and decides to get some help fixing it. For example, in one such story, Izuku takes Katsuki's advice and jumps off the roof. He barely survives, ends up with horrific injuries, and Katsuki is literally crushed by the guilt-- he ends up going to therapy and becomes a decent fucking person who would do literally anything to make it better again.

Other stories exist where Izuku and Katsuki remained friends as children. Often it's "For Want of a Nail" type stuff. What if Katsuki did let Izuku help him up? What if Izuku was the one that fell over? and so on.

Another kind is simply stories that don't involve Bakugou being an abusive dick. Like, at all. In these, he is often still abrasive and hot-tempered, but nowhere near the point of telling people to commit suicide because they don't have a quirk. More like a... Tsundere.

And by the way, I don't really even ship KatsuDeku. I don't mind it, but it's not really something I go out of my way to find. Your ignorant comment stating all katsudeku shippers think abuse is ok, was just too annoying to leave.

Katsudeku is a problematic ship. Its fucked up to ship a guy with someone who bullied him for years and who happens to get butthurt when he becomes stronger. If you ship it, you’re subconsciously glossing over the abuse Bakugo gave Deku. Also, fanfictions don’t count since they’re not canon and it doesn’t make it any less abusive.

Relationships in real life and fiction should be mutual and healthy, not full of anger, hate, and abuse.

No-one glosses over anything. I don't read stories where it is. I don't imagine in my head, Bakugo being a twat to Deku. I imagine them both growing the hell up and getting over it, together, with a lot of work on both sides part to regain trust. Or at least to be civil.

Anyway, if that's the angle you wish to take, then one can very easily state that Horikoshi wholeheartedly approves of abuse.

Reasons:

1. spoiler:

2. no-one seems to care about Bakugo being a bully. Literally no-one. Not even Izuku himself.

3. Endeavor and the blatant emotionally abusive crap he does to his son

4. Mitsuki (Bakugo's mother) shouts and screams and smacks the crap out of her son and it's played off as a funny joke.

As for Bakugo.

Bakugo has an inferiority complex the size of Australia. Since he was a young child this has been displayed. The first example you can see is when he trips and falls, and Izuku offers him a hand up. That's just first of many examples.

Does that excuse his behavior and actions? Not at all.

But to call him "butthurt" is hilariously ignorant, and makes you just almost as bad as he is. Since you are dismissing someone who has a pretty damn obvious mental health issue as merely being "butthurt".

The definition of an inferiority complex:

"an unrealistic feeling of general inadequacy caused by actual or supposed inferiority in one sphere, sometimes marked by aggressive behavior in compensation."

Often includes feeling like you're worthless. No confidence as well. I think a lot of his anger and rash personality is an learned behavior, and not all of it is genuine. He can be calm and collected when he wants, or needs to be. But otherwise, he's trying to prove something to everyone else.

This article and this article also provide some great insight into his mindset.
I particularly like the one about emotional intelligence. Bakugo is book smart, indeed, but when it comes to dealing with his emotions and interpreting other peoples', it's like a very small child. Similar in a way to someone with Autism, (depending on how you choose to interpret it.)

Another interesting thought is that he may have a superiority complex, this here goes into great detail on that. Ultimately this is not that much different from an inferiority complex.

To close:

Relationships in real life and fiction should be mutual and healthy, not full of anger, hate, and abuse.
yes, 100%.

It’s just a fun ship to imagine. Uraraka is one of the only characters that bakugo seems to genuinely have any respect for, other than her the only ones that come to mind are All-Might , and Kirishima. And that speaks volumes.

Also there are a lot of people who are saying it’s just to Cuck deku but I’m pretty sure the majority of people don’t have that in mind.

Bakugo is such a polarizing character and Uraraka is just the opposite. I think it all began because Uraraka is the only female character Bakugo had a significant amount of interactions with. So with him, the shippers were grasping at straws. He doesn't seem to give any girl in class 1A the time of day other than hurling insults. TBH urarakaxBakugo makes as much sense as GarraxSakura from Naruto Lol. I do think the fan art that comes out of it is adorable with that I've accepted it. It falls in line with the good girls want bad boys cliche. Besides, what's the alternative?

BakugoxDeku
BakugoxKirishima
BakugoxTodoroki

Because people like shipping ig, they find it fun.

I guess since Bakugou and Uraraka are like polar opposites, they could also develop each other and make the ship more meaningful. Deku and Uraraka is kinda flat nowadays, I can't even see Deku being shipped with anything other than his passion to be a hero.

I don't really ship it but the art is cute af sometimes. If you wanna learn about it and see some cute and good art as well, I suggest checking out @ superevey on Instagram. Good art and they have highlights on why they ship Kacchako if you'd like to see that.
