EDIT: anime that you've recently WATCHED or rewatched, that just became your favorite.
In my case, unfortunately, no. I've been dropping anime a lot lately, or have been rewatching a few.
Although, a few months ago, after rewatching Kaiji (last time I watched it was years ago) I gave it a 10.

Most recent thing I watched that I really enjoyed was Vividred Operation. Didn't expect to like it, because of its infamous reputation for buttshots, but once I ignored those I rather enjoyed the story.

I don't watch things "seasonally" though, so I forget what season it was released. I just know that it, Tales of Zestiria the X, Black Bullet, Gabriel DropOut, and Moyashimon are among series I've kinda recently watched and really enjoyed. I think Moyashimon's probably older.
Avatar character is Gabriel from Gabriel DropOut.

If we're going by within the last year as recent then mine would probably be, Drifters, Restaurant to Another World, Hinamatsuri, Little Witch Academia, and I sort of liked Recovery of an MMO Junkie.

Ashita no Joe. Is a grand story about the entire life of it's main character, detailing all of the excruciating pain and suffering, expressing every thought and every action with genuinely emotional realism. Joe and Rikishi rivalry was one of the best rivalry I've ever seen.

I finally fell for Romeo x Juliet. Watched it over 8 years ago and just now found the heart to give it a spot in my top 10. What really won me over was seeing how Juliet grew as a character. I felt as though she had some of the most dynamic growth and the themes of the show really centered around her decisions.

Recently, I have finished Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Now it is my absolute favorite anime of all time. As for 2017- 2018, I give Made in Abyss a 10. Now I plan to watch 3-gatsu no Lion, Rakugo and A place further the universe. So who knows, may be I will have even more favorite anime series soon :)

Most recent favorite of mine us Hinamatsuri from last Spring season. Although, I only justa few days ago put it there after some reconsideration.

80 percent of the anime in my favorites actually came because I've watched them in 2017 up to the present day. Shouldn't be surprising though, I haven't yet reached the point where I can say I've watched too much anime to have a rigid set of standards due to overexposure. This medium still surprises me.

Sora no Woto ended up in my top 10 after I rewatched it two weeks ago. I'd always thought it was a good show with strong atmosphere and a well-realized setting. However, after my second rewatch, I did realize that the characterization, the design choices and the messages it try to convey are as strong as the atmosphere.

Well, not a favourite per se, but I watched Fruits Basket years ago, and whilst I kinda liked it and I didn’t like it at the same time, and the latter won over, so I dropped. Decided to pick it up a month or so ago, and well, it’s been great fun, for the time being I definitely think about it from time to time.

That's surprising. I assumed that because of the show's low rating, it'd be nobody's favorite.

It almost became one of my favorites. The visuals, I LOVED beyond measure...but the writing I thought was shit, so I only gave it a 7.

Isekai Smartphone? Very interesting. I thought everybody either hated that show or was just sort of "meh" on it. Could you tell me what made it one of your favorites?

What's understood for "recently" to begin with?

Last month, last semester, last year, last 2 years?

Among my top 10 my most "youngest" favorite is from December 2016 (End of Evangelion), so I don't know it it counts since it's been over 1.5 years from that.

Recently watched everything GITS SAC, it became a favorite real quick.

There are so many different things to love about it. To put it simply my favorite thing about it: It doesn't treat you like an idiot, things aren't needlessly explained to you, and as a result of it's writing every conversation in it actually sounds like a genuine one.

@HopefulNihilist I see you couldn't rate GITS 1995 because it was confusing, there's a couple videos that can help you compare and contrast (+ explain) your personal take on it.

0-9:53 of this video explains the backstory in incredible detail (bio has timestamps for averting spoilers), HIGHLY recommend
This will help you just understand the movie in general, also in INCREDIBLE detail

It's a time investment, but so is 3 movies and 52 episodes if you don't include Arise.

Thanks, but I'm not interested. I was more confused with Ghost in the Shell more for having difficulty following the plot. I plan to rewatch it. Though, if I have enough interest in it, I will check out those links.

All good, something to note though, all GITS series are independent from each other but are all still based on the same story, and SAC actually has the time to flesh everything out. So if you have the time and have nothing to watch pick up SAC. It's one of the few things that made me retroactively like and understand the original film more.

I HIGHLY recommend watching the Heaven's Feel timeline then. Not sure if you knew but there are 3 different timelines that follow different plot lines, it's not just a different version/reboot. Unlike SN/UBW which repeats the most mundane things (still great though), the movies don't do this.

Specifically added to my profile "favorites", then:

Hajime no Ippo on April 2018 as most recent

Outside the top 10 franchises and using the time I watch Hajime as the furthest point, but still qualify as recent, and I would consider as a favorite then

Franchise:
Shimoneta (top 30)
Hinamatsuri (top 30)
Golden Kamuy (top 40)

Sora Yori (top 40) but I completed just days before I started Hajime

May not seem much but they're in the 90th percentile out of all the franchises I've watched
