Fairly sure his speech was par for the course. Most inauguration speeches run about 2,000 words or 20-30 minutes.

On a side-note that Rabbi that spoke had the most stereotypical Jewish Accent I've ever heard in my entire life.

It should be 10 minutes tops. In the UK there isn't nearly as much pointless fanfare.

And what has he achieved as president? Nothing. He has done nothing. The epitome of incompetence.

It's over. Drumpf is done for. This marks the end of his presidency.

There is a perfectly made parody of these kinds of speeches made by two comedians in my country, shame it's most likely not translated/subbed otherwise I'd share it.

Also I love people flaunting tweets around which are taken completely out of context especially since they're from 4-5 years ago.
I don't know what the dude will really make of the US and global affairs in general but there's not much we common folk can do other than assassination attempts all Gavrilo Princip-style.

Considering that every Communist nation in existence was pro work as opposed to what people think about it letting you be lazy (It was actually law in them, if you don't work you don't get any food) and Marx was one of the strongest anti-gun control advocates in all of Human History, Trump is closer to being a Communist than Bernie who is a socialist.

Also him having Pence as his VP, who wants to fry gays, makes him even more of a Communist as Homosexuality is against Communist values. :^)

Bernie was never a socialist. Even though he still called himself a socialist, he still was in favor of capitalism, just not the current model of capitalism. He was just basically a SocDem, a la Sweden.

A huge mistake that Americans (especially rural ones) will come to deeply regret.

Yes, yes, yes....call me salty and all your other memes, we've been through this already, I don't care.

It's one thing to believe in "Change" and "Hope" like people did for Obama only to realize not much of anything did change...

But when a man promises literally impossible things and people take his word for it....you will have no one to blame but yourself.

The jobs will not be magically coming back....big businesses don't give a shit about Americans except making a bigger profit.

And those profits can't be attained if they have to pay Americans a "fair" wage.

There is NO SUCH THING as "making America great again" unless you are purposely being ironic.

The insane part is the majority that did vote for him are being UNironic.

Quite frankly I feel utterly ASHAMED as an American that this ass clown is the fucking leader of the world.

And for all of you NON-Americans who think "who cares, I don't live there".....you're fooling yourself.

You should know by now how VERY important the President of the United States truly is.

I just want you to know....the majority of Americans DIDN'T vote for him....by more than 3 million votes to be exact.

So, all I can say is good fucking luck to everyone....the shit show begins and will not be ending anytime soon.

"Pro work" is far fetched.
Yes an enormous amount of expertise and organisational skills went into Communist states of the 20th century, but let's not forget that these nations were creating communism while using the surplus of intellectual, spiritual and economic resources left for them by their monarchic/imperialist ancestors.

For as far as USSR goes, considering I have parents and grandparents who lived/worked/mingled with Soviet Russia, work ethic was indeed strong, and education was incredibly advanced and demanding.

But the dream wasn't meant to last, because Communism wasn't meant to prevail. In fact, the Soviet Union already back in the 1960s on official state level announced that it is revoking its Marxist revolution ambitions, that Stalin was a bitch, and that USSR must now seek peaceful co-existence with the capitalist west, thus technically back in 1960 Soviets already trashed Marxism.

Neane93 said:

This comparison is incorrect. Marx by definition was an anarchist, since Marxism and Communism ultimately seek to create a society without a government. If you don't have a government then of course you can't have any forms of gun control or any control for that matter.

Trump is defending the principles and values upon which the United States of America were originally created, as intended by the founding fathers.
The founders of the US were not Marxist or Communist, hence they were not anarchists, because they recognized the importance of minimal government as a NECESSARY evil. That's why they created a very complex government system divided into several branches that would keep each other in check, which was unprecedented for that period in time.

The US was nevertheless built on very strong capitalistic principles, with the American Dream giving citizens of the US the ability to climb from the status of a nobody to the status of a billionaire, for as long as enough personal effort is contributed to personal success. (The Evangelic Christians and the Tea Party movement pretty much share the work ethnic of the Soviets in that regard.)

But the big difference is the European society lives in a class-mentality environment due to their feudal history. For Europeans seeing a "rich guy" is no different from seeing a privileged member of the aristocracy, therefore people of wealth traditionally had a negative reputation in the collective European mindset, and the Communist Revolution in a way was an attempt by the poor to overthrow the wealthy, and to prevent the wealthy from ever again coming into existence. Communism is built on the principle that wealth is bad, and everyone should be equally provided with food/needs, but not over-provided and not under-provided. There should be no rich and there should be no poor.

This is fundamentally incompatible with the US way however, nor with Trump. Because the US, unlike Europe, pursues the American Dream, and the American Dream basically says that "Being able to become rich is actually cool, and everyone should try to achieve that in his life."
People who migrated into the US over the span of several centuries had done so to attempt becoming wealthy, because they knew the US socio-economically is built exactly for this purpose, it doesn't have the class antagonism of Europe and it doesn't block or impede personal material growth. (which Marxism/Communism for example does)

Neane93 said:

I'm not entirely sure where you got the idea that homosexuality is against Communist values. Marx himself based his works strictly on economic factors and narratives, not on moral or sexual ones. Studying Marx I didn't really find much emphasis on family-related rhetoric.

I suppose the only reason you associate anti-homosexuality with Communism, is because Russia is very traditionalist when it comes to these things, but that's likely because the collective mindset of Russians evolved under a very strong influence of Orthodox Christianity, and even when the Russian Empire became the USSR, and officially trashed and prosecuted religion, the Russian society by large remained deeply spiritually connected to their Orthodox Christian roots, and more-or-less followed their traditional religious laws whilst yelling at the top of their voice that they're atheists. Pence and the Tea Partiers are anti-gay for Christian reasons, and Communist Russia was anti-gay also for Christian reasons. But Communism itself is anti-Christian because it's anti-religious.

Aptly put. The people are to blame for their own misfortune. Having absolute faith in a government without vision and actions on their own part is a recipe for disappointment. Whether that government be Democratic, Republican or outside the bounds of Democracy and a Republic.

JustALEX said:

Three million is 1% of the population of the United States. One percent difference I'd say is hardly a majority. Though I'm fairly sure everyone is aware of the results by now.

I beg to differ, he's just any other man, though with a lofty post, like any other man he will grow old and die at some point. In fact I would say some business leaders have more pull than he, and what happened to all that bullshit you would scream on a president having limits to power? That was your selling point for Killary after all.

Though I like how you are admitting in your own mind that the US is an imperialist power.

As to the amount of power the US wields Russia and China have force projection that keeps the US from doing as it pleases, but keep crying a river, I'm sure some here are enjoying it.

Bernie was never a socialist. Even though he still called himself a socialist, he still was in favor of capitalism, just not the current model of capitalism. He was just basically a SocDem, a la Sweden.

And that's the hilarious part. This country seems to have been always tired of anything that lessens competition even the slightest bit for the benefit of people. Theodore Roosevelt called strikers at the turn of the 20th century "un-American" --people who were protesting their shitty wages and working conditions and wanted a few socialist policies so they wouldn't be dying with dust in their mouths.

The fear of socialism and socialist policies is so...paranoid? Palpable? It's probably because these people have this view of the world that you should survive in this world with your hard work alone and that will get you through even the toughest situations. That isn't the case for many people.

So to me, this is a black and white situation: Either except that people will fail no matter how hard they try because competition means that some people will forever be losers and it is not their fault (working class whites and blacks living in the inner cities know this better than anyone else), or these conservative, little government interference people should realize that their insistence on a system such as capitalism does need a few checks and balances to ensure that the fewest amount of people die in squalid poverty. Or screw the poor. I hate people who lie to themselves almost as much as people who twist history to serve their own purposes.

I mean, for all their talk of lack of big government, I certainly don't see much in the way of helping your neighbor. Similar corruption occurs on the local level as the federal level. People are shits on every level of society, it isn't Local > Federal or Federal > Local.

Though keep in mind that the traditional or orthodox version of Socialism was primarily Anarchist in nature. Socialism itself just means that the workers own the means of production instead of the bourgeoisie. The Soviets IRL were closer to state-capitalists rather than socialists.

What you're talking about isn't necessarily socialist policies, but rather socialist concepts.
