| I think people need to keep in mind that this map only takes into account the number of unique viewers for the first episode of each given anime, which means the results may be moderately to widely different if we were to make the same map with the number of unique viewers for the last episodes. And as explained in the article that OP linked, the wide range of preferences in Africa and Asia is due to the limited viewership on those continents, because no one gives a fuck about Crunchyroll over there. We have tones of this released by Polish publishers (and only very few yuri), I would say it's basically the most popular genre and many new publishers start with yaoi to make a good profit at the start. We even have one publisher (Kotori) which specializes in yaoi manga. I like yaoi so I don't complain, but I was really surpsised when I discovered these facts. You can just go and simply buy a gay porn manga at the book store, it's weird. |
