Oh damn, I like what they did with the OP song to make it more fitting for this arc.
I also liked what they did with the music to make some of the scenes more dramatic from Hayato's point of view.

Looks like he encountered Koichi and the others but Kira's mind games has really gotten to Hayato. Killer Queen's third ability is truly terrifying.

Ok, Stark700, two questions:
1. How many chapters (roughly) this episode covers?
2. How do you watch episodes so early? Even in Crunchyroll JoJo airs in 1 hour from now...

This was out of this world good. This season is the best JoJo season for me. Brilliant. All the characters, all the tension, all the despair. Since last episode I'm also trying to find a solution along with Hayato but damn not even close. I am sooooo curious to see how this arc is gonna end. Kira is an awesome villain!

Also DAT OP!!! COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!

Part of me wanted this to be done and the other part thought that nah they won't do this. Am I glad it happened.
As for the episode. It was tense. And sad. I legitemately cried when Reimi and Hayto were crying. I like how there was reused animation for some scenes to emphesise that the morning was repeating (still kinda eh because reused animation, I really hate it).
And the cliffhanger, boy, hype is just about to break in.
it would be absolutely dumb if they redrew scenes to get the same message across.

Ahaha that op ! Good to see that David Production still has a soul, I began to doubt they'd pull it off with the lazy animation throughout Part 4 but now I'm sure they'll do a special op for Golden Wind as well.
Otherwise nothing much to say, well adapted episode, the tension was handled well and I like the fact that Hayato went in for the finishing blow, dumbasses in other series wouldn't even make sure their enemy is truly dead, that always triggers me.

Shining D? What is this, Hisoka? The fuck is this title? it's called Crazy Diamond is Unbreakable.

FUCKING YES! They changed the OP to match Bites the Dust!!!

The music was spot on in this episode, especially when Rohan died for the second time. And this whole looping concept is making this climax feel extraordinarily special.

But the best part was when Hayato became a savage and made the teacup spill on Kira. And Hayato's a smart kid (and strangely smarter than most JoJo characters). That part when Koichi, Josuke, Jotaro and Okuyasu met Hayato, it took a long ass time for them to recognize the kid, lol.'

And another intense cliffhanger!!

For those wondering, this episode adapted 4 and a half chapters (which is slightly below DiU's average pacing of 5-6 chapters). Last week they adapted 3 and a half chapters so there's two chapters of Bites the Dust left, 9 chapters of Crazy D, and 3 aftermath chapters for a total of 14 chapters left to adapt in 3 episodes. Do note that Crazy D was a very panel heavy chapter with less dialogue than average, so it'll be easy for them to adapt 10 chapters in the next two episodes.

5/5

I need a gif of Hayato's head-turn death stare when he runs past Kira. That was badass for a kid.

There was a lot of scary imagery for a Jojo episode, especially watching all the main characters explode from Bites the Dust. (Poor Okuyasu gets his jaw and teeth decimated.)

That BtD opening is better than I was hoping it to be, it was so good!

I love the way Hayato acts in this arc. He recognises his own weakness and uses the tools he has access to to try and conquer his fate. Unfortunately for him it seems like his luck simply can't compare to Mr Lucky Shadow.

Well you know, the translators have been doing that. They've been giving names they think are cooler, I think. The Enigma Stand was called Misterioso in the translations. There must be others too, but that I forgot.

Sure was good, but me not being into the show too much kept me from accepting it fully. How good Kira appears to be is false, to me, that don't accept his current Deus ex Machina, plus other writing conveniences in the story that I don't know the (infamous) Trope they belong to, is called.

As someone that already know the outcome because I've read the manga this still is making me incredibly hyped for the final battle and they are handling this final arc really good so far, nice background OSTs that makes the situation more sad and making a new opening like this.

Trademarked band/song names. Enigma is band from the 80's, Crazy Diamond is the name of a Pink Floyd song (Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Shining Diamond keeps the reference but helps with any legal issues). Echoes is a PF song too, Reverb in the CR subs skirts the legal issues while keeping the name similar as a synonym.

It's like that since a huge fucking while, I don't know for part 3, but it's like that since the beginning of part 4.

It's there due to the possible copyright. Better be safe than sorry they say, right.

Kinda surprised it took you 36 episodes to notice it, ahah. The japanese text is actually the real name; "Crazy D(Diamond) is Unbreakable".

I doubt this is the final form of the op. We still dont have the crazy sound effects we have from the previous jojo parts.

Think positive. We didnt have the sound effect version of crazy noisy bizarre town and chase. Sono chi no sadame, bloody stream, stand proud and end of the world have those versions. I want to think positive that Great days will have different op versions from episode 36 up to 39. Although it might be wishful thinking.

To each their own, it's a pity that you can't enjoy the show as much as I seem to 😉.

I won't go overboard on my opinion (mainly because I don't want to see a repeat of the shit from last week's thread, but also because your entitled to your own opinion), but I don't think Kira receiving Bites the Dust counts so much as a Deus Ex Machina. Here's my reasoning:

  • One of the main themes of JoJo is overcoming immense odds/fate through clever use of your wits and the powers available to you.
  • The author is more concerned with making something that's interesting to read and will bend logic and seemingly established rules to get there.
  • We've seen before that the arrow has a will of its own and at worst will respond to the strong will of others to unleash their potential. This is something that'll be more prominent in the next Part.
  • Kira is written to be a lucky man who's undoing is his own overconfidence.
  • It's the end result that decides whether something is truly a Dues Ex Machina and IMO Bites the Dust doesn't meet that criteria. A certain other thing next part however...

I won't act like JJBA is the best written thing in existence (definitely not), but in a lot of cases these "flaws" add to the series' charm. If you don't feel the same way that's cool, this is just what I think 😜.

I was about to skip the OP like I always do, but then it started to turn weird as hell. Lol some parts were going backwards, in a haphazard order though. It could have been even more weird if the song was going backwards too lol. It fits this arc given time is going back again and again.

This is all too much for an elementary school brat. He has seen five people die, and one of them died twice (I don't think they went back four times like Kira was supposing). Poor Rohan deals with a lot of shit. Now he has died more than once. Too much death for a mangaka. Hayato had the right idea: kill Kira and have Bites the Dust undone. But Kira is unbelievably lucky. That really was pretty unbelievable lol. Now Hayato has to go back in time again to come up with a different approach to get Bites the Dust undone. He drew too much attention towards himself this time so he'll have to control that.

Didn't really like the change in the OP for Bites the Dust, because I didn't feel that the song matched with the reversed OP,but I found the visuals great during the reverse.Aside from that, the episode was amazing with Hayato trying to deceive and kill Kira with Stray Cat.Kira's luck though saved him because his clock that he took from his burnt hand saved him from the air bullet. Now,Hayato looks completely broken after losing again against Kira.Next week the last arc starts!3 episodes remaining!

Well, it's sad that you're not enjoying it like most people. But the majority's liking this time-loop structure, and it makes the final arc feel more than just a simple fight between who's stronger, but it's a fight about who's smarter.

Yeah, why not? killing kira > dooming a random person to die

Heck he could literally shout it out loud, kill half of morioh and ruin kira's perfectly calm life by writing fate in such a way that kira would be better protected by Hayato never having had Bites the Dust on him.

That would be pointless though, as Kira himself doesn't remember anything when BtD comes into affect. It would just rewind an hour, and then only Hayato would remeber killing half the town. To Kira nothing even happened, and as such it won't feel like he is trapped in a loop.

Kira has no hand in this? Did you even watch the anime? Bites the Dust is an independent talent, that acts on its own behalf. Kira can activate or deactivate it, that's it. Get your facts straight before you come at me please.

However Bites the Dust would be a danger to Kira in that timeline, as fate would imply that Hayato'd kill half of the town, meaning bites the dust would deactivate itself, refreshing fate, giving Hayato a fresh start to work with.

Kira will most likely deactivate Bites the Dust, meaning Hayato won. Where's the bad writing that you're seeing? In a skirmish there always has to be a winner and a loser. lol

"Oh I must be lucky."
> cast ignores a car with a wide open door
> bites the dust doesn't prevent hayato from killing kira which makes zero sense because bites the dust protects kira from hayato bringing him in danger
> "fate"
> stuff happens without a reason which is impossible, fate would have put hayato in situations in which it was possible

And that's just this episode. Araki does whatever is easy to do, or whatever is "funny haha so weird". Part 4 is filled to the brim with unnecessary stuff, stretching scenes for the sake of non-existent tension etc.

"Kira will most likely activate bites the dust" Can't spoil anything for you, but no, that wouldn't mean what you imply it would, it would only mean what I imply it would.

And if you're using the shit I said as a reference in terms of bites the dust, that's stuff that's possible considering the logic, but which araki would render impossible, because he just loves breaking established rules. Literally, araki just does whatever makes the story move on even if it doesn't make sense. I will now go into spoiler territory so:

I have an answer to this but it requires a mild spoiler for next week since one detail of Kira's new ability hasn't been explained

The most killing more people would do is reset to the morning without any progress being made. There's no way he could kill Kira either since his one shot with the cat plant was wasted.

No. It would mean the main cast wouldn't die by default, and that he could use them against Kira.

Honestly don't see where you're coming from - tact and planning are emphasised in this battle. Despite not being done as great as later parts, intelligence trumps power. Rethinking his plans, doing everything over fresh from the start, would mean everything.

Basically what you're saying: he can't win by being smart. period -> he can't win. That doesn't make sense and you know it.
