I'm pretty sure it's hard to find anime in some Middle Eastern countries because the content is offensive to Islam.

I know Middle-Eastern/North African localization can sometimes be at the level of 4Kids, just no actual laws prohibiting it as far as I know except maybe in an Islamic Republic like Iran or something. People there usually just make their own fansubs and bypass the restrictions anyway.

I know that about a year back some American police were blaming Soul Eater when a girl tried to kill her mom. Worst part was they didn't even bother understanding how much that mom must make that girl suffer to make her feel she had something in common with Crona.

You'd be surprised to know the number of places that sell anime and anime related merchandise in some ME countries.

How is it offensive?
Edit: Actually I know it isn't offensive. Just because something doesn't support your own religion does not mean it is offensive. Most people that follow Islam do not find anime offensive. Only the extremist, but even then extremist of all religions would probably find it offensive.

No actually, I remember there was this ISIS involved guy on Twitter who was answering questions from random people until his account got reported for obvious reasons. Someone asked him what his favorite anime was and he said Bleach and Attack on Titan, strangely fitting.

Complete bullshit. Only one thing I know that everyone deserves. And that is the right to watch good anime and drop the shitty ones. Have a nice day(you probably don't deserve that :P)

Russia since 2008 have a tendencies to criticise anime at government level and considers it more dangerous than Western animation, which labeled as "bad" too, but not as bad as anime.
Recently Russia banned any sexual content with characters under 18 years old. It causes massive blocking of sites with anime content even if it's light ecchi or fanservice. It's noticeable that hentai pictures or whole sites getting banned in Russia way more often than pages with similar Western content.
Also, there were propositions to make all anime "18+" (R) rated, even kodomo ones.
Russian government have special dislike for anime, as something that, in their opinion, should be completely alien for russians (but it's not, which irritates the government).

It's possible that anime will be completely banned in Russia during next 10-15 years, if this country continue to make the new iron curtain, and the church will get more and more influence there. Western stuff will become banned too, but anime and manga tends to become the very first victim.

They did, until Putin's rule in mid-2000s started to restore conservative USSR-alike regime. At first it was almost unnoticeable, but since 2011-2012 Russia becoming more and more like mix of China and islamic countries, with orthodox christianity instead of islam. Russia is still far from totalitarian isolationist theocracy, but Putin's government obviously took course to it.
