Ok, If after first episode a wasn't sure about the new series, now i'm really exited! Again, didn't read manga, so it's all new for me, and very-very interesting to watch, can't wait for the new episode!

Can't understand how this lazy sloppy ugly and badly paced Anime got produced. Really like a cheap knock off of D Gray Man. Terrible shame.

I barely remembered how this arc went. I definitely remember the orphanage, Timothy and the deadly boob grab haha. So when that Level 4 appeared, my mind instantly thought "oh shit" so that's a pleasant surprise to see that level 4 again.

If memory does serve me correct, this was actually a really short story arc so I can see it ending next episode or the week after. The Third Exorcist and the Mystery of Kanda Arc has a ton of material in it so I hope the Phantom G Arc ends soon, otherwise those two final arcs are going to be rushed.

Anyways, great episode. The comedy in this was nostalgic and the action scenes were good. Shit is hitting the fan and I love it. I've already gotten use to the voice actors in this. Allen and Kanda wasn't bad to begin with but I already put the previous VA behind me. I am impressed with the artwork and animations of this show too, though at some parts were really bad, like Dragon Ball Super bad. It seems like they don't try too hard when the characters are standing in the background, so the overall quality dips a lot and as assholes of the internet, such as myself, will point it out. Jesus, some of those were cringe worthy. Like last week, I enjoy the remastered versions of the OST greatly as I always felt that D. Gray-man always had top notch background music.

this.
I just finished rereading the whole manga so now i remember pretty well how things really go in the chapters and oh my god everything was... so rushed it almost pained me? they did keep p much all the 'important' things but man.... i mean i guess i can understand that they're trying to show as much plot as possible in just 13 episodes but still, being a dgm fan this pacing kinda pisses me off :/ I just hope they wont rush the alma arc this much

anyway at least Timothy is finally here, i like him a lot

and about the drawings and the animation, ughh.... with the exception of the close ups of the characters faces everything looks just so ugly... i'm sorry i'm complaining this much but i had such high hopes after all that beautiful promotional art.... it really felt worse than last ep

I'm already pained enough as it is even though I don't remember everything :( I just went to check some chapters and it feels even worse now. It might not be "important" but some parts still contribute to characterization and/or drama. I hope they are rushing now to show a good alma arc.

Ikr! I was so hyped after that nice pv!

I don't understand either... like they finally decided to produce a 2nd season after 8 years so you'd think they would at least be serious about it and have enough budget. Pacing is bad ok. But there is no excuse for that sloppy animation. The first season was so much better on that aspect. Even though it's the same studio...

The pacing was actually alright, unlike the complaints here. U can't 1:1 the manga with the anime, especially if it cover till a certain part of the story. It's not a bad idea to drop some foreshadowing which is irrelevant to their current season. What's the point of foreshadowing something if it's even unclear when the next season will be aired(If there will even be a next season). And anime-only viewers would most likely forget the foreshadowing anyways, unless they rewatch the whole season again, when the next season will be aired(which not everyone will do depending on how busy they are). Also not every dialogue need to be incl. Especially for this arc. Those characters weren't interesting enough to begin with to give them every dialogue the manga gave them. If the manga portrayed the character to be not important, why would the anime treat them any differently?

Overall this episode was decent IMO. It covered atleast the important part for what anime-only viewers need to know. Animation was meh for me and I think I already got used to the VA after the first episode, so it was okay to me.

Loved it. Always enjoyed the DGM pacing for arcs and how it wasn't always just 3 episodes to solve the mystery, lets see how many episodes it takes for them to finish this arc, hoping its not one more.. also first boob joke in the series lol

I agree with the people here who are saying the Timothy arc is one of their least favorite (I found him insufferably bratty in the manga, same with the anime and LOVED it when Allen called him out so thoroughly and that Kanda never put up with him (or anyone really lol))

I also think they're probably trying to get to the stuff with Alma. (which is a fan favorite arc, myself included)

Did they miss the whole Link vs. Kanda about the Black Order conversation? And Marie talking to Allen about how he and Kanda are "the same?" I'm not sure when that happens, but I know both happen around this arc. Even if they skipped them, I'll live with it.

Overall, I was just really happy to see it all animated.

Anyway, I liked this episode more than the last one where I felt that how they rearrenged the scenes was pretty pointless, this episode I could at least see the point of it even if I'd have liked to have seen a more direct adaptation of the manga.

I think it was pretty good, kinda remember about the Phantom Thief G arc and it was not that important. The VA's change already didn't bother at all (we didn't see Lavi). So all is good so far except those pointy noses in ED, really feels so weird ...

The pacing for this episode is quite good even the rearranging and cutting scene. The pacing is fastest than I though but at least still not in the super rush adaption category IMO.
The broker part being omitted. Probably because first season has already introduce it (episode 29 and 30) so no big deal.
I'm glad we still got the blood scene and Marie cutting off his poisoned finger.(Poor guy) At least there won't be too censor in term of bloody scene.
I'm surprise that level 4 still basically sound the same as last season, although same design(albeit more bad look and creepy), didnt expect to sound the same.
No problem on the VA part, pretty good overall IMO.
That eye in the starting opening animation is freaky epic.
This episode is clearly the budget-saving episode. The animation quality is really up and down for this episode. The episode would have been epic with top animation quality(especially the action scene).

Overall, still an enjoyable episode. (although also have disappointment). Hopefully next episode will have great quality since its the final for this arc. Also hoping episode 4 will have great art since it will most likely only involve in introducing characters and stuff without much action. Prologue of Alma arc most likely start on episode 5. There might introduce the Noah in episode 4 the fastest with the pacing and rearranging of stuff.

GoldenDevilGamer said:
Some of the art was so lackluster at times. And I don't even need to look at the manga to realize how many chapters were adapted. IIRC, they adapted 7-8 chapter, though the key points were focused on so I guess it's not too bad. I never really liked the Phantom Thief arc, but the anime should've adapted it properly. By the look of the episode count, they might adapt up to

They might end the season around chapter 208. Chapter 209 start of the new and current arc. If the studio want to tease that arc, they might end at chapter 209(since its a short chapter).

Tim's arc is good! The animation just doesn't show how dark it should been!
Animation is honestly too colorful for this season where it's heading into possibly the darkest arc in the series

I agree that the animation quality should of use a darker color tone to show the darkness of the new season. Still, since there main focus is Alma arc, I think the animation quality for Alma arc should be good and at least consistent(hopefully).

You are not only one. I also love this arc in the manga. Although it is not best arc, it has its epic and enjoyable moment. Remind me of earlier arc and why I love D.Gray Man even before other epic arc(Noah ark, HQ invasion, etc) The manga art and feel makes it even better experience for reading this arc. :)

Wrong. There was level 2 Akuma in the manga. A lot of the changes were fine. This arc is probably one of the worst in the lastest of arcs.

Even if its not the best arc theres no need to rush it with like 40 ch. material left...
They should have atleast showed us the directors betrayal and that she is a "BROKER". With that pace they are gonna stop in the middle of the Searching for A.W arc which sucks for anime only viewers.

Glad to see that a level 4 Akuma can still kick the shit out of the main characters, would have felt inconsistent if Allen somehow could take one out easily after how hard the first one was. Definitely looking forward to finishing this arc and moving onto Kanda's though.

We finally meet Timothy. Yay! :D

I never noticed before but Timcanpy has feet, like little upside down triangles that are probably "claws" so that he can walk lol that is so fucking cute. I love that little golden bastard.

I'm glad they're so much stronger now. Remember how much the level 4 Akuma smashed their old base and the other exorcists? That arc made me feel like everyone was going to just die. I was kind of frustrated with how ridiculously strong their opponents were and that they only had a select few really strong exorcists.

How's the pacing bad? We learned everything we need to know. This is a small arc and won't have any relevance for future arcs, so why would we need more dialogue of characters we don't care to begin with? I assume u read the manga, do u honestly care about that police guy? Did u really need to know the daughter of that police guy thought Kanda was a pretty guy? Do u really need to know those irrelevant things? IMO, u don't. It's just dragging the current arc and decreasing the amount of episode for the awesome arc which comes after this. I won't spoil anything for none manga readers, but I assume all of the episodes will be for the next arc, beside the final episode which will end in a cliffhanger. For now the pacing is good. The only problem is the animation.

I'm actually liking this pace, it's highlighting the important parts and leaving out the ones that don't help the development. The animation could be better (i'm assuming once the bluray/dvd will be released the quality will increase too?) but i'm not complaining. It still hurts me to see Allen get hurt. Even in the previous anime i feel like he takes the brunt of the attacks. I also like the subtle bickering between Kanda and Allen, it's really adorable :3c

Well, I enjoyed it more than last week's episode. The noses don't stand out perpendicularly anymore. However, some scenes look well animated while others look Toei produced. Such poor inconsistency in a 13 episode anime for a known series.

As I expected, they compressed and rushed a lot of the stuff of the Phantom Thief G arc. While it makes the entire episode really rushed, it that means they will adapt the Alma Karma arc properly, then I don't mind, since this arc wasn't that important.

The art is still very bad in some scenes, kinda dissapointing. Well, at least the Level 4 Akuma looked terryfing, they nailed it appearence. Also they did justice to Link badassery.

Next episode the arc will be finished and we will move to the Third Exorcists and the Noah.

Pacing was definitely rushed and they skipped a major detail to me involving Timothy and the director/children.

Also.. I cannot handle how blue the sky is. It is a bit off considering how "dark" the first season was in color palette. I also don't remember such colorful looking Akuma or the level 3's looking so odd..? Out of place? I remember them being more knight looking

Ehhh? He can't be dead...I say he'd fake his own death for show, no body to autopsy and all that. He might go undercover or rogue as the intended effect but he's too bad-ass to die off-screen.

What ? A level 4 ? But not too long ago, they had so much trouble with this...Are they going to be all right ? Well, I guess Yuu's with them now, Innocence and all, so it should be ! But how can you take that thing seriously, unlike the previous lv.4, this one is so colorful...

This episode felt more like introduction episode than the first one...which is strange, the art was better (at least their faces were with normal shape) and we got some cool action scenes, which hooked me up. As for the pacing, it was rushed and they missed some scenes I was looking for (for example the scene between Kanda, Emilia and her dad). Though the scene with the akumas wasn't emotional as in the manga...

To me, I do have to say that this felt pretty rushed, and i expected it to be since it is only 13 eps, but it still was kinda painful. The little details were left out concerning 'expressions' since it was rushed. like for instance when the director was getting ready to say that allen should be executed if he turns into the 14th, he got cut of by allen immediately as allen finished his words right away. But in the manga, the director stops himself because he was scared and hesitant of telling everyone to kill allen, and it showed in his facial expressions, THEN allen finished his sentence. Also when Link got possessed, it showed allen in his normal attire, but after link finished talking , allen was suddenly wearing his clown crown attire, and that irked me since it was completely out of nowhere in literaly a span of a few seconds.
regarding the animation, a lot of the fights look pretty nice animated, while others looked a bit stiff and choppy? and some facial features 'sometimes', only 'sometimes', looked a bit off, especially when facing to the side. I do hope that after this ark, things start smoothing out. its made by the same company as the first few seasons, so i expected more effort...
and i'm fine with the new voice cast, especially considering i dont really remember how they sounded, besides allen, since its been well over 6 years since i watched the first few seasons.
Its just the little stuff the kinda bothered me. @@
