It has been announced that the upcoming TV anime "Space☆Dandy", Bones' 15th anniversary project, will be simulcasted in North America via Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block and in Asia (excluding Japan and South Korea) via Animax Asia.

Funimation will release and simulcast the English dubbed version in North America. This will be the first time Adult Swim broadcasts an anime series simultaneously with Japanese networks.

Odex, a Singaporean company, has secured the license for broadcast on Animax Asia. Australian distributor Madman is preparing the series for release in Oceania. Licensing for South Korea and Europe is still being arranged.

The key part is Animax Asia has the simulcast because it covers the whole South East Asia as well as HK and Taiwan. This would cover the area with the biggest number of anime fans outside of South Korea and China.

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Pretty cool that Funimation is simulcasting the series in NA alongside the Japanese airing.

And looks like other places aren't missing out either. Simulcasts be everywhere :O

This is what the creators wanted and boom they made it happen. I guess they want this to be the next Cowboy Bebop.

Funimation will release and simulcast the English dubbed version in North America. This will be the first time Adult Swim broadcasts an anime series simultaneously with Japanese networks.

I am thinking of the original Japanese text:

一方、北米は、1月のほぼ同時期から、カートゥーンネットワークのヤングアダルト向けの放映枠アダルトスイムとなる。アダルトスイムは日本アニメが数多く放送され、なかでも『カウボーイビバップ』は過去10年以上、ほとんど途切れることなくリピート放送されていることで知られる。北米での放送は英語吹替版となり、吹替版の制作は北米でのパッケージ販売や配信などを担当するファニメーションが担当する。

Since it was talking about "Cowboy Bepop" just before it mentioned dubbed version in North America, it kind me makes me wonder if it is talking about Cowboy Bepop instead. But then perhaps it was indeed written to mean the simulcast will be of a dubbed version, but would beg the question: So if someone wants to see the show in its original Japanese dubbing, he would be in for disappointment?
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

If it's simulcasting on Adult Swim it's going to be dubbed. I'm guessing the subbed version will be put on their website like they do with every other show they license. Plus there's always the less than legal methods.

Stupid? Probably not.
Silly? Maybe.
Brain dead? Probably not.

This was made by the same people who made Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop and animated by the same company that animated Fullmetal Alchemist, Soul Eater, and Eureka Seven.

According to ANN and Funimation's website, not only is it going to be simulcasted, but it will be simulcasted DUBBED! In fact, it's apparently even airing before it airs in Japan.

I have never heard of something like this happening before. This kind of coordination and cooperation with the west is just amazing, and I really appreciate the effort Bones and Funimation are putting forth with this.

I will definitely be watching the show when it airs. Not just because I'm excited for the show, but I want to show my support for this kind of action and business model in the future.

He is very much so a comedy director, cowboy bebop and samurai champloo had tones of completly comedic episodes and there are cases where some of the filler comedy eps were some of the best eps in the seires, such as the ep of cowboy bebop where old moldy food became sentient or samurai champloo's episode about the drugs

He makes some really funny stuff
