THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Another most amazing episode of Hyouka. The best of this episode is for me Mayaka Ibara. She is my #2 girl in the show. I like her expressions a lot and character.

Mayaka Ibara, OK time to say why I like her and it’s only due to the following,

THAT FACE! THE FACE! Oh such a nice slutty face. Sorry no offense but she makes me think like that with that faces and more so with the other one in the spoiler
I don’t know why but it does and not in a bad way at all.
In fact I loved all of her in the spoiler
from her other faces. Her interactions with the group and most of all towards Satoshi in the spoiler
It shows in her face that there is something with her towards him.

About Eru Chitanda, OMG and OMG at the spoiler
that Houtarou x Eru date! OMG I AM BURNING. So sorry but obsession of her is obvious with my profile update. Casual clothign! The frilled blouse! That blush! That date! Can’t think of anything else in that scene. It was nice. Moreover Houtarou’s wake up face and the cafe in the spoiler
looked very nice.

My second favorite of Eru is the maid part in the spoiler
now that was also Moeru worth. The visuals there were nice.
Eru’s smiling face was great at that part. In fact from her first appearance here Eru’s face still captivates me. I liked how she started talking to Houtarou here and again she got close to him. Of course he blushes. Kind of awkward reaction from Houtarou and Eru here. Nice to see Eru thinking and handling a box. Seems she has no problems with manual labor. Loved seeing Eru and Houtarou side by side so close. No often do you see people close like that and give out a reaction like that. Usually they are shy or hysterical. Lovely Eru face in the spoiler
I liked how it was executed compared to her normal face here. Got to admit loved the part in the spoiler
how Eru blushes and goes fast close to Houtarou while he is reading a book.
Eru with her thinking pose here and worried here, it shows more facial expressions of Eru and here too is no exception. Loving how Eru drags Houtarou again in the spoiler
no often do you see this with blushing going around. Loved the look Eru gives out to Houtarou here. It looks appealing to me since it has a small blush. Nice face of Eru here.

About the mystery, it’s very intriguing in the spoiler
a headless girl haunting around due to a book? Sounds right! The visuals in the spoiler
surrounding the mystery were nicely done once again like the last episode. Marvelously nice. Best for me is in the spoiler
this was a reference to that short about the girl who looks like a dog? Right?
Anyway Eru was nice to see the way she was curious about that book. Another visual of a time line. Most impressive. A second favorite surrounding the segments of this mystery is in the spoiler
gorgeous paintings and dual blushing from Ibara and Eru! Hnnnnnnnnnnnggggghhhh, that’s too much with both of them since I like them both.

About the ED, delicious yummy and MOEru passion of some innocent Yuri visuals of Eru x Mayaka since they are holding hands in the spoiler
It shows that both girls are spiritually connected. That should be obvious from their sexy white lingerie in the following,

A bonus to many males. They look so sexy and revealing. So much more reason to watch these girls now. Well the ED got me hooked on that. It is to say the ED is visually, Yuri and innocently incorporating the white color good. Might edit later.

BTW Nice art in the spoiler
like the coloring.

FINALLY DONE! Image Stitches, modded images and Image Dump done:
http://ecchiking99.blogspot.ca/2012/05/pics-and-image-stitches-of-hyouka.html
There is some very nice stuff of Ibara and Eru.

GIFs from the ED in the club:
http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=437933
Lots of nice stuff. To see.

PS: Any request For GIFs is much more preferred by me due to time. I am nice and don’t bite. So PM or MSG of anything in this episode. I will see what I can do if time is short on hand.

Enjoyed the episode. Eru's character seems a bit erratic, she isn't logical. I'm assuming it's a false persona, but I'll probably be proven wrong.

I liked the ending, wasn't the annoying cutesy type of song. Was the cool type of cutesy song. I did some half-assed speculations, but they probably won't amount to anything; they're half-assed speculations.

Hopefully shit develops more in this episode; Hyouka could be a great show.
IMO the ED is what will captivate males like me who are after some spice to say the least. ED will also boast male audience more. I don't like that. I really want more girls to watch this show. Oh well not much can be done about that but a more romantic ED would have gotten more girls is what I am saying. Instead it's more of what I mention about the ED already.

So, it's been about a month since the Classics Club has been reformed. Eru does to spice things up by doing some club activities. After all, what's a club without fun right?

And here she is, our fourth main character of the series, Mayaka Ibara:

There are some various clues that are presented in this episode as well as a delusion that played in Oreki's mind. After piercing the clues together from what they know, they concluded the theory that the book was being borrowed for this reason:

This was a rather easy mystery tbh. Anyways, somewhat interesting episode, especially the parts where you can use your brain to figure out the mystery before Oreki figures it out. Oreki vs YOU the viewer. Well, w/e, by the looks of things, it looks like an episodic series rather than a direct linear storyline. I'm looking forward to what happens next though.

I'm not too sure on what to think of this series because it's sort of boring but interesting
at the same time, like how there's no background music for most of the moment but It's still getting
my attention to the point where I actually like the series. This series is just messing with
my head, but I definitely love it for the mystery aspect of it all.

Better than the first episode; the new girl is kinda annoying; but the cliffhanger at least has potential for what she seemed like she wanted to say to him ever since he solved the mystery; likely a problem of her own that she wants him to solve. Hopefully it turns out good since the show has a lot of potential; would be a shame to put it to waste.

Started laughing my butt off when they were in the library and Mayaka started asking them if they'd be interested in her mystery - Houtarou trying so hard to refuse and Eru all but possessing his body like a demon. Several times in the library and back in the club room I noticed his body language screaming "To Close!" Houtarou, sorry, but Eru already has her claws in your soul - it's to late to run, and you can never hide.

That's the way I see it - Eru is the driver here and she has an agenda. The first two episodes were just setting the stage.

Yeah, Eru is WAY too pushy to be considered normal. Pushy to the point of being extremely annoying. I mean, try continuously sticking a book in front of someone's face....

I personally find Eru disturbing, not cute. Shame.

Wow, I'm in love with the series; even if it's only the second episode of this series. Definitely one of my favorites this season!
Not sure if it's possible to solve this sort of case as fast as Houtarou did though, still quite interesting to watch.

Can't wait to see how the relationship between them develops. Hopefully, it won't develop too quickly... since I like the current Houtarou, and it'd be sad to see him lovestruck :<

Not sure about Mayaka though, except for the naughty faces she had at the beginning of the series; which Yumekuichi mentioned as well... in another way though.
Hopefully, she could improve the Houtarou x Eru relationship from Eru's side... or Houtarou's. Work either way imo.

Too bad that Commie failed with their first version of the episode. Left me and my pizza slice without anything decent to watch..

Man I'm really loving this show. The art style and animation is still stunning, characters are likable, and really like the music. And while the little mysteries we have now are pretty trivial the plot is obviously going to lead into something bigger so I find it silly to drop this show so early. At least wait until the main plot starts up and see what that's about before dropping it.

This also. The mystery of the classic club itself should be the main plot.

Also the my eyes burned at the sight of the ED. I feel offended by it. I hoped that this series won't resort to fanservice but omg what was that?

I can see why some may find this anime boring, but that's simply because you're a passive viewer and not an active watcher. Those little small brain teasers are quite fun to follow along with. I didn't predict everything perfectly in the end, but the Art room was one of my ideas and it was definitely fun arriving to that simple conclusion.

Then again, that moe blob is enough for me to deem this watchable. The ending did throw me off slightly though - it felt a bit out of context.

I thought this last episode and I think this episode reaffirmed my thoughts, Chitanda is pretty annoying. I can't see anything in her at all, apart from the eye affect. Oreki is handling her pretty well though and manages to keep scenes with just him and her to be interesting. I think Satoshi does a better job of sparking life in the group and keeping Oreki moving forward. It's pretty funny how he manages to get Oreki to do all these things. Still baffled and enjoy how

Style and animation effects during the scenes was nice and OP looks great.

I love it but I find myself rewinding many scenes and I don't see that changing.

You've got to love the "ki ni naru" scenes, I'm always grinning in those and it's just fun to watch how Oreki reacts to her. Heck, even the book scene was fun.

I really like the new girl Mayaka, she doesn't like Oreki and she shows it without hesitation, good girl.

Eru @café was so cute, I've waited for the pony tail.

Do we really learn in the next episode what she wants Oreki to do, seems a bit soon?

And those eyes are enough reason for me to watch it.

People like you piss me off to no end. A slow episode means you drop an entire experience, only after seeing 10% of it.
It makes no sense to do that. If you've watched it for 2 episodes, you can watch it for one more. I always watch 25% of any anime I'm "on-the-fence" on, before deciding what to do. If you drop it before even 10% has gone by, I really don't think you should be watching anime in the first place - or be talking on a site where people spend A LOT of time on anime.

ANYWAY.

Once again - loving the chemistry between the characters. It seems that both Ibara and Eru are playing big roles in the story - I think that they will end up with their respective interests in the end. Eru with Houtarou, and Satoshi with Ibara. That would be so cute~!

Anyway, Ibara is a nice addition to the mix, and I wonder why she doesn't like Houratou so much - it seems like it's something from their past... Eru was once again ridicu-cute, but it seems she has something big on her mind - and it seems like all the little things being dropped here and there will pile up for the final mystery - the one in the synopsis.

synopsis said:
They begin to investigate a case that occurred 33 years ago. Hints of the mystery are buried in an old collection of works of the former members of Classics Club. The collection is titled "Hyouka."

The animation kept up to the first episode for the most part, so I am glad to see that - it really adds to the characterization of each of them, and makes them more believable. KyoAni has to be my second favorite animation studio, right before White Fox, and right after Bones.

Talking about the story again, the smaller mysteries are also entertaining, and while they're nothing amazing, they're not something easy either. If you were given this kind of problem in real life, you wouldn't be able to solve it so easily. I think that's the point. They have these smaller mysteries to flesh out the characters and relationships, all while dropping the hints and links to the main mystery hinted at in the synopsis.

This is my first KyoAni anime I've watched from the beginning, and I like what I'm seeing . I can't understand why others are disliking it so much - the score itself is also baffling me.

I can see this having an 8.5 - anything else is yet another horrible rating conceived by haters and MAL.
Once again, this is my first KyoAni anime that I have watched while airing. I have only now actually watched K-OM.

Why is something that's a waste of time for the characters necessarily a waste of time for the viewers? ...I guess I'm in the minority here, because I love "boring" slice-of-life (life is boring, so it follows that any given slice of it should also be).

One of the interesting things I found about this episode and the previous is that YOU (the viewer) could get the chance to solve the mystery with the clues BEFORE Oreki or any of the other characters can solve it.

Can I insert my comment here on how putting your own rating as the one that should be rated on a public site is... quite aggravating, I would say.

I mean sure, I often complain about how a series is overrated or underrated. However, how did you come up with detailed numbers... like 8.5?

The ED got me hooked too.Perfect.
The Art of Shipping is no mere game. It can be small skirmishes to huge nation size wars.
Of course some will claim their ship is the BATTLESHIP but they all do. This is why battles occur because of factions fighting each other to justify their favourite ship.
And thus SHIP to SHIP combat occurs almost anytime even now.
Beware, Threading into the Shipping battlefield will be bloody.... What are you waiting for?

Can I insert my comment here on how putting your own rating as the one that should be rated on a public site is... quite aggravating, I would say.

I mean sure, I often complain about how a series is overrated or underrated. However, how did you come up with detailed numbers... like 8.5?

I cannot rate it an 8.5 myself - but it's better than an 8, and not quite good enough for a 9. Hence an 8.5.

Like I said at the bottom, these are my opinions "I can see this..", and this is my first KyoAni anime - so no bias. You're free to disagree with me, but I love this anime.

What score do you believe it should get?

A slow-paced episode but somewhat interesting regardless.
I'm upset, some people in this forum are treating Houtarou as just a mere love interest for Chitanda. This guy has potential too!

Great ep. Building up to the main plot.

It's a 21 ep series so if you're that impatient for it to get going, just leave and never post here again. No need to read one-line posts of people dropping it because they have the attention span of a 5 year old.

Aside from that, Mayaka was great. Love her personality, and I can see many great moments with her and Satoshi.

Lastly, the art and overall quality of this series is just amazing. KyoAni shows they can pretty much do any kind of art style.

I'm pretty disappointed in how fetishistic the ED is. Guess there's just going to be fan service in every show Japan puts out nowadays, no matter the content.
So wait. If there's "fan service" in the ep, people complain. If there's no fan service in the ep but there's one in a 1.5m ED, people still complain.

How about this. The next time you see two girls walking down the street talking to each other, just complain. That's the message I'm getting from people with issues on fan service.

Be glad it's just the ED which you can skip.

snip snip snip from people with issues on fan service. snip snip

You don't know what I think about fan service or anything else about me other than my thoughts on this ED. Kindly take your overemotional reply elsewhere.
