I don't know why I forced myself watching this all the way through to the end.
That anime had nothing loveable at all...
characters are nothing special, you won't remember their names, even after 12 episodes...
the story is...well the story was about...a girl taking photos...

it was definately a show about feelings, which wants to catch your emotions, but seriously, all it did was making me fall asleep! Go watch Clannad or Ano Hi Mita hana... for a very emotional anime.

I regret watching this.

Clannad & Ano Hi Mita Hana is too emotional compare with this one.
Beside you can't compare with Clannad on this, Clannad is Romance-Comedy-School based so it's both fun and enjoyable.
I did enjoy the both VN & Anime, but don't feel like I can watch Clannad again. :)
Ano Hi Mita Hana ehmm.. I don't really know what to say it was tearjerking in the end.

The ending was actually good, not the best ending.
I know they can continue with one more season.

I have to agreed with the story here, it's really weak but somehow I did enjoy watching it, better be happy than getting sad.

The side story episode with Cat was just boring so skip that part.

Very slow paced anime.
Very artsy.
All star cast.
Holds good morals.

It was a very well done anime. Really only for people who like watching slice of life however.

Liked that 'Popura' thing with Kaoru's father. Reference to Working...? Naaaah...

bit of sidenote
Ano Hi Mita... heh I liked it and it was tearjerking - but all the time I had feeling that it's artificial and forced... oh his life sucks and he sits in home how bad (that main emo-guy) and now move along to another story
not to mention different genre and overall mood of those two

and now let's return here
I already told that it's anime of 2011 for me - and this episode supported my statement
nice ending of the story - everyone meets, shows their passions - nice kind and fluffy
especially I liked evolution of Maon in entire series - loved way she did that performance (with bit of comparison to previous one) and later that "conflict" she had ;)
rest of cast good as always :)

bad it ends :( I don't know if I would like to see another season - it would be great to see those girls and their city once again, on the other side it seems that this series is complete
ah one minus (kid of) :] ending... I loved usuall ending and it wasn't here :(

I can't help but agree with you. Most of the show was a complete snooze fest with very little meaning that got to me.

Some afterthoughts:

I really wanted the show to be about Potte finding the past of her father and finding herself through that, but all I got was just picture taking of unmemorable scenes.

The only part I really liked was the confession in episode 10 I think. That had some drama to it, but because of the character not being fleshed out there was no reason to even care about why her confession didn't work out.

I loved the sister's driving.

I give this series a perfectly average 5/10. I can't like it. I can't dislike it. It just merely exists.

Clannad/AF & AnoHana is Drama type Slice of Life while Tamayura is Iyashikei type.

Iyashikei is Japanese for "healing", a term used for anime and manga created with the specific purpose of having a healing or soothing effect on the audience. Works of this kind often involve alternative realities with little to no conflict, emphasizing nature and the little delights in life. Even though many iyashikei creations seem to have a strong escapist basis, the goal is not only to offer a means of getting away from daily worries, but to let the audience embrace a calming state of mind. Other tropes often associated with Iyashikei are Arcadia, Ghibli Hills and Scenery Porn and often involves the subtler kind of Crowning Moment of Heartwarming.

If you want to compare, compare it with (something recent) Ikoku Meiro no Croisée or Usagi Drop

So back to my usual one liner hit and run comment.

I have to be honest here here since I have high expectation for the show, the only memorable episode about the show is the Promise of the Bamboo Light episode, the rest of the episodes just give me this "heat instead of warm" and "pressured instead of healed" feeling that hard for me to explain where did it came from which totally defeat the term of Iyashikei.

7/10. Bias score, considering the amount of cast imported from my favorite show.

I think this is one of the intentions of Tamayura, show the importance and the beauty of the little things in life (what exists around you and what happens) and, besides that, the importance of having (and chasing) your dreams, no matter if they change. In my opnion, the series was very good in that regard. =)

Ever since Aria, i've been missing this kind of show and Tamayura, although not perfect, surpassed my expectations.

I will give it an 8/10. I'll miss the girls, the townspeople and the town (which, imo, like Aqua, of Aria, was almost a character by itself - another great thing of the show and of of the major reasons i can only compare it with Aria instead of other sllce of life anime).

lol at people calling it a snoozefest. it's not meant to be anything BUT a slow-paced easy going relaxing slice of life show. If you went into it expecting something else you need to get some background info first - see: satou junichi, king of Aria.

It so happens the show also has cute characters (although some are annoying), a beautiful soundtrack, amazing art and it is heartwarming!

Awwooo~!! I'm going to miss this precious sweet little anime so much!!
Every week it brought nothing but happiness and smiles~ And very often sometimes tears!

Everything about it was beautiful and touching and I hope that others enjoy it in the future just as much as I did!!
It really deserves more credit, I can't understand why it wasn't very popular!

I will forever be jealous of these girl's friendship and the lovingness of this town!;w;♥

Very nice anime very calming and nice.
I just get so relaxed from watching this it's a shame it's over i really liked it.

People in that town where very nice helping out a few people who slipped of the way and got themselves stranded.
Still makes me wonder how she got of the road in that first place with the speed she was driving and then there is also the way she asked for help.
Which seemed she needs it a lot.

This anime is really comfortable and its softness is great!!! I didn't watch prequel OVA, probably I'll watcch them...
Every chara is cute and finale coincide with real year end it's a good idea!!! Sayomi and Norie are too funny, and Maon is so kawaaiii.
I give it 7/10. One point over the average for a monothemhatic slice of life: it's a good result!!!

I won't say this is the best anime of the year because it's not, but it's certainly my favorite. Say what you will about the pacing or the story; this series was never meant to pander to adrenalin-junkies or drama-loving audiences anyway.

Tamayura isn't dramatic or tearjerking, but warm and empathic. It's not intelligent or deep, it's simple so it can reach its viewers. There's no grand, elaborate process for Fuu or any of the other girls to discover themselves because that's how things are in life: little by little you realise things you hadn't known before, and continue to do so day by day. That's what makes Tamayura enjoyable.

I can understand why it may not appeal to some people but I don't see what drives them to finish watching it if they didn't like it in the first place. Were they expecting some sort of dramatic turnabout?

May you turn a wrong turn at a detour, you might later see precious things that you won't notice. May you fought with a close friend, you might later notice how much those friends mean to you. Mundane things like cycling down the roads with your friends... are they really that mundane?

Cherish your memories, cherish you friends, cherish your time and those that joined in. Take a snap shot with a camera, look at it again... you may find warmth that you wont find again.

Very nice anime.

From an amazing episode 1, to some very strong episodes, and to the ending. Each episode carries a nice message.

To the people who didn't like it. Isn't it obvious when you have slice of life you take the risk of a slow paced anime where nothing happens? I mean even the description would give away that.

Anyway for what it is it did a pretty decent job. It gets a 7 in my book, nothing special but heartwarming in its own way. It is nice to not have a lot of drama sometimes.

This was a beautiful example of how an anime can be emotional without unnecessary and most of the times forced drama. Sato Junichi made a great job with this simple yet so heartwarming story, I really liked it and I'll miss it like I miss Aria, I hope he'll do another similar work in the future or why not, another season of Tamayura.

8/10.

Heartwarming, relaxing, slow paced, touching, stress reliever. That would most describes this series

It does not need to be spectacular, nor it does not need to be deep. The slow pace and relaxing is something I really appreciate away from the fast pace reality. Like all the worries, and problems are swept away.

I like the funny moments, the giggles and smiles it broughts on every episode I watch. The relaxing bgm helps improve the mood. I wll never forget this show, as it shows that despite we have f*cked up world we live in, there's a small part in the world as peaceful as the place in tamayura.

A nice way to end the season.

This was a beautiful little anime, the 'healing' worked, it really soothes my heart with it's cute little ways.
The characters were all loveable, minor and main alike. They all make up this wonderful and admirable town. My favorites have to be Potte (Taketatsu Ayana was a huge plus) and Kao (I hope to see more of Kao in season 2, she needs more episodes dedicated to her, I mean Maon got like 3).

As much as I liked it, it sadly had some boring parts though and some minor problems here and there, so I'm gonna give the anime and the OVAs an 8/10. Might rewatch if I need something calming, and I also can't wait to see the 2nd season :)
I really do need to watch Aria soon :D It's pretty much the same team and it's supposed to be THE 'healing' anime after all.

Phew finally got through this one month later, I guess part of me hates watching a good thing come to an end. It was nice to revisit the reminiscently slow and relaxing pace of Aria. The exhibition was interesting, really displayed everyone's talents and passions. Norie really seems serious about making sweets, Kaoru has finally found something to follow with her aromas, Maon is more confident with her storytelling (albeit sad endings o_o), and Fu's pictures are heartwarmingly simple. Komachi's photos were...uhh, good too :p that lunatic.

I like how they wrapped things up. The idea that things won't always go as planned, but that with a new perspective what was a disappointment before may now be something wonderful. That can even be tied into Fu's father, since that was a long running idea throughout the series. The idea that even though he's gone, he's left a legacy for Fu to be able to look for the beauty of the world through her camera lens. I also like Fu's thoughts on what it means to take photos as well. It really did speak to me and makes me want to go out and start taking pictures too.

Overall it was simple and cute with some nice messages and things to reflect on, albeit a bit boring and hard to watch sometimes. I can't really say it made me think as much as Aria did, but it was still a pleasantly easy going series and I'll be sure to check out More Aggressive in the near future. Overall, I'll give this a 7/10.

Anime series that does not have as an objective to represent the hard life of every day. It is mostly a gentle and relaxing slice of life, which has gained a lot of sympathy in me.
Sweet ending, and I liked it, did not finish as often happens in other souls without making sense, each episode has aimed to give a deeper meaning to various situations, gorgeous!
Designs are simple but cute, cute and well-made backdrops.
Cute characters, very nice OST. I can not wait to see the second season.
Final rating that goes from 7/10 to 8/10.

Good episode. Komachi had her little victory over Fuu, and everyone grew up a little over the course of the year and found and settled in the path that they like. I also liked how it portrayed the small town life where almost everyone knows each other and don't hesitate to help each other out.
Even though I thought the last few episodes were sometimes a little boring, this was overall a pretty good and relaxing series that always made me forget everything else during the time I watched an episode. It gets an 8.5/10 from me. Can't wait to watch the next season.

Didn't like this one and mainly it was because it was so darn wishy washy, corny and moeish to a point of annoyance.

Which took it to the point of feeling pandering and when you pander the show feels disgenuine.

Plus it didn't feel like it had anything clever to say. Most of ideas were the kind of "no shit" type.

Glad that the We Exhibition turned out good for them, and also New Year happened in this ep.kinda awkward watching this ep 2 days before New Year

Gotta love what Potte quoted in this ep that someday your precious moments will go on separate ways so treasure it while you still can with your camera lol.

As a series itself, it's relaxing, there are some cheesy moments, average art at its best, Maon greatly developed in this series from a whistling character to an aspiring recitalist, Norie still a shotacon, Potte finally realized the treasures behind photography, Kaoru finally realized what her true goal is after worrying on it due to her friends.

Overall not as great as what the previous director produced but still good I guess 7/10
Now onto the next season
