THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- The first half of the episode was dedicated to Millia x Pam yuri coupling, while the second half reveals Sylvius the Ripper, the new "submersible" whale. :) So, will Pam be able to keep her promise of catching 15 ships for Tatiana? Heh, what a way to keep the viewers occupied with later episodes of the show. :P |

Love to see old characters on screen. Color setting in Silvyus almost look like Silverna. 15 ships is enough to make a fleet. For Anatory. I think there is a conspiracy behind this. And Sophia is mastermind for sure. lol |

And Sophia is mastermind for sure. lol Hehe yeah, Sophia and Tatiana are totally up to something. Yeah loved seeing them and the Silvius was so perfectly done, also both the coloring, as you said, in and out of the Silvius, and the sweet return of those black Silvana uniforms. Seeing Tatiana and Alister in command and Tatiana piloting her vanship again was so awesome. Also, they nailed the nostalgia at the Silvana music kicking off when Tatiana went out and the music when they got to the Grand Lake. And the new characters had plenty of great stuff throughout too, I loved the part where Giselle was digging into the picture of the Silvius, great moment for her character and she had some good character moments in the flight too. Fam had a number of really good moments throughout as well and her finally getting schooled by Tatiana was exciting to watch and did a nice job applying some limits and room for growth for Fam. And can't forget Dio was great, sneaking things in all over the place with what he knew of the Silvius and several serious bits not to mention his remembrance of his certain old friend. Tatiana's non-reaction to him and Dio's reaction to it when he butted in was amusing since they know each other and then they surfaced for him to land. |

Then there's this distinctly hinted at tragic event that occurred at or around the last Grand Race that seemingly claimed the life of the previous ruler of the Ades Federation (Sara's mother) ten years ago that ruined the peace and re-sparked the Ades Federation's war on the other nations. |

Was I the only one who shouted in glee when Tatiana gave the so called "genius", Fam Fan Fan some schooling on how you really fly a vanship? : ) On the episode, I definitely liked the second half MUCH, much better than the first half. Between seeing some old faces like Tatiana, Alister and that helmsman (who I think was a former mechanic), the awesome use of those listening posts for navigation after Fam had blinded the bridge, Tatiana's flying lessons, Tatiana totally ignoring Dio etc, the second half was definitely filled with awesome moments. Can't wait for the next episode. |
Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to give out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends. |

To me Fam is way to overconfident in her abilities, but I've not seen any evidence that she rubs it in others faces or or is a pain in the ass about it. In fact, in comparison to Tatiana, I'd have to say that Tatiana was the one who desperately needed to learn to chill regarding her flying skills when we first met her in the original Last Exile. Yes, the first half of this episode was slow, but I thought it was important. Without it (and a few things from the previous episode), Fam's declaration that she would assemble a fleet of stolen Ades Fed ships for Millia would have been rather random and out of the blue. Instead, we see that Fam's been building up to this sort of commitment for some time. |

I rated this episode 5/5 just for the mention of Lucciola. He was my favorite character and I was worried they weren't ever even going to bring him up in Silver Wing. So I'm glad Dio still misses him. (I also liked the line "when something tastes good, you have to show it on your face!" I was like ;~;) |

I enjoyed the episode, though the homoerotic tension can be a little more than eye-rolling at parts. It was good seeing some familiar faces again, and I do like where the story is going. What disappoints me, however, is how strong the supporting (returning) cast is over the new, main cast of characters - Fam has yet to convince me as a solid protagonist, though I'm starting to warm up to Giselle considerably. It seems by next episode we'll finally get some fleshing out on the situation with Dio and the Sylvius that is so desperately needed. Also: what's the antonym for sausage fest? |

The timeline of this series is quite straightforward. 600 some years ago, according to the Guild calendar, there was a huge exile of people from the earth to the space colony Prester. The first series takes place all on Prester where the two nations are on separate spherical balls connected by the "grand stream" as seen here. http://marcdaniel.blogspirit.com/images/thumb_prester_lr.3.jpg About 100 years before the first series, humans began to leave Prester and return to earth. Probably 6 different ships came back to earth, one for each of the cresent moons as seen in the second series. "EXILE" seen in the first series is the last ship that had not left Prester yet. Claus and co. activated the ship and they returned to earth aboard the ship. Skip forward a couple years. The last exile ship returns to earth and finds that there's several kingdoms already on earth. The kingdom of Turan were the first humans to come back from Pester. They noted that Turanians (whatever they're called) displaced the original human population on earth that had not left in exile to the colony. It is a definite that the crew of the Sylvius knows Dio and that Dio knows them, it's just interesting why he's keeping quiet. In the first episode, when he took over the Queen's ship, right before he flipped it upside down, he said that "he had permission from your grandfather as well as queen Sophia." A clear indication he is working for Sophia. Also probably because it's "fun". My take on things is that Sophia and Tatiana are plotting to steal 15 Ades ships so that they can form a fleet for the Anatoray Kingdom. Dio's role was to scout out a good group of sky pirates to do the job. The series is going to focus on Fam and Gisey but the main driving force of the story is going to be the Anatoray characters plotting in the background. I literally rewatched all of Last Exile just this week to figure out what's going on in this new series. 8 years is way too long for them to expect you to remember these things. EDIT: Dio's reminiscing of his friend made me D: Such pity that bitch Maestro Delphine vaporized him just for kicks. |

I STILL want to know how Dio managed to survive that ludicrous fall from the first series; I hope it'll be explained here. It's been known that he survived the fall, as could be seen from a piece of Murata's official artwork based shortly after the first series' end. Anyways, it would be really cool to see Claus and Lavi again - I'm sure they've gained legendary noteriety by now with the people of Prester, and it would be really neat to see their well-earned veneration among its peoples. I don't know if lending Tatiana a hand would be on their agenda as well, but we'll see. |

To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't be surprised if they left Claus and Levi out of the series, or had them on the side in the minimalistic way. This series isn't about them and they should have settled down and lived a quiet life if they had the choice. I would be more happy to see the mechanic crew of the Sylviana. The gay guy and the crybaby always made me smile. Then again, since Al is in the OP, we might see everyone come back. Only time will tell. |

Claus and Lavi's father didn't have a chance because they were swallowed up by exile. Alex and Dio only fell/crashed from the Grand Stream. I'm more curious about where this story takes place. Exile "returned" in episode 1. Is that the return to Earth or Prester? In the new Manga and the end of the first season they left Dio behind. He shows up in the official art work at their farm but we don't know which planet thats on. In the new manga which states it takes place on the same stage as Fam, shows guild ships on Earth. Did they come by a different exile or is there another travel method that would explain how Dio got there without Claus and Lavi. I want answers, a week is too long to wait for such a good series. |

Can this dribble get any more infantile? Asking for a friend! The wonder team (Fam and that other uber chick, no one cares about) are just the bestest ever! This show is a feminist wet dream come to life, every male characters are mindless drones, even Dio was cucked out of existence! Of course every female character is the bestest ever! On every subject! So far the three male character with some air time are lame, idiots prancing around doing god knows what, one (Teddy) is nothing more than a spineless cuck, carrying around a bag with some tea set! Really a tea set! Full with everything you'll ever need to make a nice delicious cup of tea while being homeless and on the run from future space n@zis. He able and ready to just jump at any order that delusional tyrannical "princess" commands him to do. Teddy tea time! And then we see little poor cuck boy Teddy making tea for everyone. Rene, what's the point of having a little brother around? He doesn't do anything, he's not even a comic relief character. Dio, oh boy, what have they done to our dear Dio?! Is he suppose to be retarded now? It looks like it! |
