| I wanted to check what anime are kept in the Plan To Watch lists the most without being watched. A fast and simple way to fetch the data was the number of ratings / number of members. This is imperfect because some users finish without rating, or drop it without rating, but more granular data seemed harder to fetch, so this what we're going with. The cutoff is top 4500 most popular anime. So not the entire database, but almost everything you'd care about.
Ignoring OVA, ONA, Movies, Specials, Sequels, Reboots, etc. most interesting results I get are: Hyouge Mono — 17.2% members rated  Ginga Tetsudou 999 (TV) — 18.8% members rated  Master Keaton — 21% members rated  Baraou no Souretsu — 21.4% members rated  Urusei Yatsura — 21.5% members rated  Dirty Pair — 21.7% members rated  Oniisama e... — 22.3% members rated  Texhnolyze — 22.4% members rated  Devilman — 23.6% members rated  Kemono no Souja Erin — 24.4% members rated  Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu — 24.4% members rated  In top 1000 anime, Texhnolyze is the most shelved, and continues to be so until #2323. | Oh hey, this is something I've been interested in recently too, taking note of random series I find that have more people who've marked them as PTW than completed. No surprise that it's mostly older, longer series. |

| I don't think it's the best metric, since I myself don't rate some shows I've completed, but either way you shouldn't add the people who have PTW when calculating the percentage of those who rated the anime, but rather Ratings/(Completed+Watching+Dropped+On-Hold). By comparison, calculating like this, the number in Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu becomes 57.69% of it's members rated it. |

| If you're reading this and you still haven't watched Legend of the Galactic Heroes yet, please try it at least. Texhnolyze is a very tough watch so I definitely get why most people don't actually watch it. |

| @KitsuFrost Fantastic Children is 24.57% and right after LoTGH, but I had to stop the MAL post somewhere lol. Penguindrum is at 35.7%, not that bad compared to the list. Aria the Animation is 30.81%. Flag didn't make the cut of the top 4500 threshold unfortunately, but it would have ended up 22.26% between Oniisama E and Dirty Pair! Likewise with Gasaraki, didn't make the list and would have been 25.44%, so would be beyond the 11 I wrote Before that we have Gallery Fake (24.63%), Shirokuma Cafe (24.67%), Boogiepop og (24.99%) etc. Really good guesses though! |

| @SignsOfSuicide Erin is truly a gem lost in time! I feel most see the cover and assume that's a children's show and leave it be, and the ones that don't have it collect dust in PTW oh well. Hyouge Mono I actually watched 3 episodes of just to see why is that the one least likely to leave its PTW status! It is quite fun, a little more comedic than I'd have preferred, but there is quite a bit of fun history tidbits that I appreciate 🙂 |

| I expected Legend of the Galactic Heroes to be right at the top... It definitely ranks the highest out of all of these on my personal list. I've checked out the first few episodes of Dirty Pair and Galaxy Express 999, they were cool but didn't exactly grab me, open to giving them another try. Didn't know about Hyouge Mono and Erin, they do look interesting (highly rated, too). Thanks for these. I wonder if these are just famous and respected enough for most people feel the need to watch at some point, but just obscure and unavailable enough to not feel peer-pressured into actually starting them. |

That said, I'm interested in most of these (I've only seen Texhnolyze and LotGH), so if I had an active PTW, I'd have most of these entries added there, I guess. @Auron by the way, where is Casshern Sins at? :) The profile picture in this thread reminded me of it, but I don't expect some crazy results. |

| I don't even know what Baraou no Densetsu is, so that's a surprise I guess. The others are on my ptw except for LOGH and Texhnolyze, which I already watched. |
